  1. Hi All Looking for a bit of advice. A couple of months ago, I upgraded the rubbish tyres on my Vorteks to Proline Trencher MX28. Since then I have had major issues with the wheels rubbing on the body. I considered trying a set of belted tyres to eliminate ballooning that makes it worse but there would still be rubbing at full lock. I also considered buying extended body pillars but I'm not keen on making it look even taller and besides I can never find any in stock. Eventually I found these: https://m2cracing.net/shop/shop.php#!/M2C-3472-17MM-HEX-ADAPTERS-5MM-FOR-ARRMA-BIG-ROCK-GRANITE-SENTON-3S-TRUCKS-WITH-6MM-AXLE/p/478044526/category=136127902 But the shipping from America is insanely expensive. Does anyone know of similar products that don't cost $100 to ship to the UK? Or has anyone done anything different to overcome the clearance issues? Thanks! Matt
  2. Mostly. The lilac, magenta and purple parts were airbrushed on, then finished with blue and white spray cans. The acrylics I used through the airbrush didnt stick very well and havent shown through as much as I had hoped but overall I'm happy and I mostly got the effect I was looking for. Thanks for all the comments!
  3. Hi Made my first attempt at painting a body shell earlier as well as treating it to a new set of wheels, spoiler and roof guards. Made a few mistakes but overall pretty happy with the result, just wanted to share.
  4. I'd be happy to fix myself but its one of those issues that is difficult to know what is actually broken. The ESC flashes red as if in low voltage protection but I tried with 2 different fully charged batteries. The controller would turn the wheels left to right but wouldnt accelerate or brake and then while I was running through all my logical troubleshooting steps the controller became unpaired and refuses to connect again now. So realistically it could be transmitter, receiver, ESC or motor that is the issue, hence sending it all back for a proper investigation/warranty replacement.
  5. Hi All So about a month ago I brought an Arrma Vorteks 3s BLX. Its been amazing, I absolutely love it. However, it is now broken and looks to be going back for a warranty replacement. So I am hugely addicted to this experience now and I know a bit more about what I do so I think it may be time to pick up a second vehicle. I have narrowed it down to a few models and I wondered if anyone had any advice to help me pick? My use case is mostly bashing, I'd like to go a bit more extreme on the terrain than I currently do and potentially a little bit of skate park action, so I'm thinking monster truck of some description. The shortlist at the moment is: Arrma Granite Arrma Kraton Follow up question is: if the Vorteks and Granite are based on the same chassis, is the only difference the larger wheels providing more clearance? As it seems crazy to buy a second car if a new set of wheels will do the job. Thanks! Matt
  6. Just wanted to pop back and thank everyone for chipping in with advice. I ended up grabbing a motor off amazon so it would come over the weekend and it has sorted the issue. Unfortunately, its a 12T rather than the 15T the car comes with so I've ordered some standard replacement ones assuming that it makes a difference 🙂
  7. Heya, yeah I got the 3s BLX. I didn't see this reply before so I took it out a couple of times, I am honestly mind blown by how fast it is, got a bit of a learning curve to drive it properly but its addictive! I'll get some blue threadlock ordered and watch the vid you shared, thanks again!
  8. Thanks for the suggestion, I have tried more than one fully charged battery unfortunately
  9. Hi The kid and myself took our Maverick Quantum XT's up the woods this morning for a little blast about. After about 20 mins, mine stopped responding to forward and back inputs, then about 30 mins later so did the kids. I think I've narrowed it down to ESC or Motor, just wanted to see if anyone had an opinion as I am still working this all out. I have: * Tried multiple batteries, the car turns on, steering inputs still work fine * Pulled the servo apart and rebuilt, all seems fine - not sure if this is actually relevant as I assume that part just does steering * Pulled the ESC apart as much as possible but it turns out all the wiring terminates on a board thats fully sealed so I can't dig any deeper there * Checked the connection between the pinion and spur * Checked wiring between the ESC and motor for any visible damage * Swapped the connectors on the bit that controls the servo (receiver?) the steering input works on the trigger when the connections are swapped but the forward/back does not work using the steering The motor doesnt spin at all, so either the ESC is not sending to the motor (it lights up when pulling the trigger so think that bit is ok), I am suspicious of the wiring to the receiver as when I swapped the pins it still didnt work. Only other thing it could be is motor. I've tried to be logical about it, any other ideas? Also apologies if I got any terminology wrong. Thanks in advance.
  10. Went for the Arrma Vorteks in the end, excited! 😁
  11. Thanks again folks. Quick follow on question, I've done a bit of research and I wonder if I'm also getting the wrong type of car for what I'm using it on. I thought stadium trucks and monster trucks were the same just with different body shells but I've now read that the stadium trucks have lower ride height and I think part of the reason I break mine all the time is because its not designed to withstand what I put it through. I mostly use it in my garden where I have set up a bit of a track with a couple of small jumps in (literally just a paving slab on a couple of bricks so not high). However I also live next to a car park and a park with a skate area in. In order to do this sort of stuff should I go for an MT or is a stadium truck ok, I just have a rubbish weak one? I decided on the Associated MT10 but its not in stock anywhere so my fallback is the Arrma Vorteks, although I have read elsewhere that it has low GC and is only really good on the flat. The Arrma Kraton appears to be about the same price and imo doesnt look as good but seems to be a better all rounder?
  12. Thanks for the great response, I hadn't considered that almost everything would need to be replaced. I think I will get something else, your recommendations look good, I particularly like the Arrma Vorteks and the Associated MT10. Anyone out there in the market for a slightly scuffed Maverick XT? 😄
  13. Hi All I am completely new to the hobby and after 3 weeks of tearing around I am completely hooked. However, I now have a conundrum and am looking for a bit of advice. I have a Maverick Quantum XT which initially felt great and was so fast. I've had some issues with it, over the past 3 weeks I've bent or had 3 different drive shafts pop out, bent 2 pillowballs and 1 axle bit (the part that connects to the drive shaft). I'm already at the point where it feels like its not quite enough so the question I have is: Do I sell it and spend a fair bit more money on something better specced, or do I mod it? Can I get the same or similar performance by modding what I already have. I've noticed I can replace a lot of the plastic parts with aluminium ones which I assume will improve durability and I've seen some guides for other cars about changing from brushed to brushless, presumably at that point from nimh to lipo etc. I quite like the idea of modding what I have but I don't want to pay for it if it would just be better to buy something else in the long run. Hope that makes sense, thanks for reading!
