  1. yeah, good point. It is even harder to explain to someone that I am into electric rc cars, as they tend to think of rc toys, at least if you say nitro or petrol they know they aren't kids toys. Trying to explain that my electric cars go up to 60mph and are faster than most nitro's and petrol rc cars confuses people and they probably think yeah... whatever! When people actually see what these models can do they are often amazed and begin to understand what the appeal is.
  2. I don't know the condition or how new your stampede is. Before you embark on a conversion remember that the VXL Stampede is just over
  3. Yes the Tamiya Superstock is a 540 motor and will work great with the stock ESC. Just because its 23T doesn't mean its slower than the 12T Titan. I did GPS time trials in my Rustler and both were about the same 25mph-27mph on 6 cells stock gearing. The claimed 35mph figure is only acheived by over gearing the motor on asphalt on 7 cells. The Titan 12T motor is kind of unusual because it is 550 size and generates more torque than most 540 12T motors. Bearing in mind you have a Stampede (a pretty big truck) you need a motor with torque. A high reving low turn motor designed for light weight buggies or touring cars may not be the best for your truck. I bought a 12x2 motor for my Rustler once and I had to gear down so much that I gained no top speed advantage over the 23T superstock. To get over 30mph in a truck you are better off going brushless to be honest.
  4. Those Titan motors don't last long I'm afraid, but they are relatively cheap! If you can push the boat out to about
  5. Will be ironic if customs charge, as B-P-P always put "warranty return" on there stuff which gets new stuff through customs in my experience. Not sure what you paid for return postage but you could have got a new MM motor for $70 from B-P-P.com including free postage. I guess you thought castle might have repaired it for free??
  6. I can't beleive how many components were effected in the crash! Very unlucky Happylad. The few high speed crashes I've had I have got away much more lightly than that. I have hit curbs, bridges and posts and posts seem to be the worst!
  7. 1) I would say at least 15 times (although I never counted). 2) At least 5 mins (May be a few minutes more but I wouldn't like to say at least 10 mins) 3) Never noticed.
  8. Well, I managed to take my car out for 15 mins in the end despite the wind!! Still, I think I will try not to keep them fully charged for more than a week unless someone knows any different
  9. Yeah, I mean 50mph 1/18th is OK in theory but you must need the eyes of an eagle as even 1/10th gets pretty small at the distances required to get those speeds.
  10. Hex is good enough for RC in most cases (at least in 1/10th scale) I think, as generally you don't need to apply too much torque to the fixings. Torx is widely used in 1:1 automotive industry though and is better than hex.
  11. Alas, you are not the first, nor I doubt the last, to post about wheelspin taking money for out of stock items.
  12. Good Choice on the E-Firestorm It is a good beginners car that can easily be upgraded as the chassis is very capable of taking more power. One minor downside is that there appears to be no after-market wheelie bar that fits properly without modification - maybe HPI will bring one out when the "Flux" brushless e-firestorm is released.... Electric power had moved on so much in the last 15 years! You will be amazed at the speed and power attainable from brushless set ups should you choose to purchase one. The stock set up does about 20mph, wheras with an after market brushless system for less than
  13. Last weekend I fully charged my 3S Lipo with every intention of using it in the week, as I was off work and thought I would get to take my car out at least one day in the week. Well, what with the bad weather and other commitments I haven't had chance and this weekend the weather is not looking good either. I know that your supposed to store Lipos at about 40% charge, so I am wondering if I should discharge my pack until I get chance to use it again? Or will it be allright for another week. I am not realy too sure how long you are supposed to keep them fully charged... 2 hours? 2 days? 2 weeks? What's the damage if they are kept charged instead of at the optimum 40%? Thanks!
  14. Don't forget it will take the same time for the light to travel back to the observer, thus doubling the perceived delay to approx 2.6 millionths!
  15. BRCA rules aside, the 8000 is a bit big and heavy compared to smaller LIPOs that will give all the performance you need in competition. For bashing though the 8000 is great especially in a Stadium truck like the E-firestorm or Rustler A 4000 would be being pushed pretty hard with a Mamba set up in a Stadium truck.
  16. Just make sure that you have a lipo capable charger!
  17. I have the Max Amps 8000! Great battery for bashing. The motor or ESC will overheat before you run out of juice on most performance set ups I should imagine. In a B4 you are looking at a minimum of 40 mins constant driving (if the electrics can take it). Usually I get two 20 mins sessions out of a battery in the B4.
  18. I wouldn't use a 11.1v lipo with the LRP motor though. They aren't rated to that voltage. 3.5T LRP is a good tc racing motor but not good for rusty bashing. The VXL motor is better for the Rusty.
  19. Yes, but mainly because I want an over rated motor for the job so that it wont get burning hot in 10 mins not because I want to break any speed records. Do you see any reason why it wont work?
  20. Nick is right, 3S mamba it so fast it is uncontollable and realy only best for speed runs (up and down). For any other sort of driving 6 cell / 2S will serve you well. I am not sure what power you are used to - brushed presumably. I think you will be suprised how quick it is! Speed is addictive though, to be honest I would not be in RC if the cars only did 20mph
  21. Try it and see. It wont do any harm to the 6 cell pack or the ESC. It might cut out early though when under load. The ESC is just looking for voltage drop below 6V - volts are volts if you see what I mean.
  22. Try it with 6 cells first, lets see if the transmission holds up. I assume you are getting the 5700? You can connect two 6-cell packs in series with the right leads/connectors though. Ofcourse a decent 3S Lipo will give you best performance.
  23. Yeah, the VXL motor is supposed to work well with the MM esc. You can run it on 4S if you disable the BEC as well. Some guy got a 4S VXL/MM ESC combo upto 78mph! Trouble is I don't know where to get the motor seperately from. I prefer to buy from B-P-P if poss as they offer free shipping and tend to avoid customs, another reason I am hoping B-P-P will offer the new MMM motor when it comes out.
  24. Not yet... Kind of waiting to see how much the Mamba Monster Max is - maybe Castle will sell the motor seperately. I think the motor is based on a Neu 2200Kv and will probably be good value. I might get a 4600Kv MM to tide me over.
