I’m looking for a small hobby-class RC and was reading quite some on this. I’m new to the hobby, just have a couple of RC toys, which are quite some fun to play with my daughter (6y) at home. So wanted to try something more serious. But not yet ready for 1:10 - simply too big and too powerful for now. I think 1:18 with road/gravel usage would do as a start.
Obviously, need an RTR, have no accessories yet. And I don’t expect I’ll do moddings or upgrades - just want the car and remote to work for some years.
So far I shortlisted 4 different models
- LaTrax Teton for about 150€
- ECX Ruckus for 130€
- Maverick Ion MT for 85€ aka Himoto Mastadon
- WLToys A979 for 50€ aka Amewi aka …
So wanted to ask the community - hopefully you’d have an answer.
Does it pay off to go with the most expensive thing in this size?
Assuming the price is for quality, driving fun and worry-free run for a couple of years.
Or it’s rather overpay for the brand and from user experience I wouldn’t lose much by going with Ion or 979?
What would you recommend, especially if you had a couple of those in your hands?
