  1. can you forward me some pics too please, and the amount you would want for both frame and air shock?
  2. Has anybody got a spare starter for this model lying around? I can pay via paypal or cheque. Any help very much appreciated EDIT i have bought one from an ebay seller.
  3. im not having much luck with this car.. took it to the store to have a quick check, and it turns out it was the idle screw that had come out too far, meaning the carb was slipping out of the barrel... got it fixed, no worries, it looked to be on a winner of a day. then the damn pull start won't retract the cord....now, i've searched and apparently a new starter for this car is 21 quid! so i'd like to rebuild it. i've opened up the pull start to reveal lots of small components. I thought HPI would include an instruction for sorting out a buggered starter, but no...I'll have to build it from scratch....so, anyone got any tips as to how to fix a starter?? it's alien to me. obviously the spring returns the cable. how do i put the unwound spring back in, and repair it?? thanks again
  4. I got some cracking macro shots done, however unfortunately forgot my camera I will have some piccies uploaded for you guys tomorrow. I really appreciate all the help i've been getting; this is obviously a great community! :)
  5. I suspect my problems are because the carb has been damaged. After some close inspection, the rubber retaining piece that also acts as a seal for the carb and the throttle linkage is broken, part of the sleeve has come off. I can happily move the aluminiun carb butterfly (not sure if this is the correct term) out of the housing - this is reciprocated when the throttle is depressed on the control, the butterfly moves noticebly out of the housing under throttle. Also, i think because of this the butterfly has pivoted around causing me the problems with high or low idle etc, although i can't be sure. Can anyone advise further, looks like the carb will need a rebuild, and retune. This explains why i've had so much trouble. I will try and post some pictures of this problem so you can see what I mean tonight.
  6. I am going to return the car to factory settings, making sure the hsn is flush with the mounting, etc etc. It is a pain though only having 45 minutes worth of ignitor time before needing another 8 hour charge. I might buy some more in anticipation of the weekend! The hot air over the engine probably gave the engine enough breathing space, that gave it a chance to fire up - good tip. When i tested the carb with the radio throttle, it appeared open in neutral, then the butterfly closed when I pulled the throttle (rather than opening letting more fuel/air in), does this mean something is incorrectly set-up somewhere? Nearly there though, it was defintately working last night, perseverence is key with RC cars, i remember now
  7. Well i got it running briefly, after MANY pulls and different combinations of things...heating up the engine, emptying then refilling the tank, etc. It idled correctly, then cut out as soon as the throttle was nudged on the remote, it started about 6 or 7 times... Then of course the plug ignitor died again, so tomorrow beckons... Think i'm going to go to the local shop to get it sorted out, i must be missing a switch or something on the remote. or maybe i have done something to detune it...who knows
  8. Thanks for the answers guys, I have drained the tank and left the plug out. Going to leave it overnight, then give it a dry start tomorrow afternoon. I won't be doing it now as the glow plug ignitor has drained itself after my attempts at starting her this eve! Will report back...
  9. Hi i'm new, so hello to all I bought a second hand firestorm recently, and luckily for me the seller assured me it had been run in. It has minmal tanks on the clock. Very clean looking, it looks like new. Had a run in it yesterday when i got home, and it ran ok, although a bit lean as kept stalling at high rpm. No problems. Only stopped as glow plug ran out of juice. Didn't cane it, just wanted to get used to the car and the controls. Today i can't start it for the life of me... Fuel is ok, and is primed (16% just to keep the engine sweet) Batteries are all charged, including glow plug ignitor Glow plug works fine (tested off the engine) I can't think what i'm doing wrong for it not to work, and i'm slowly getting more and more frustrated. When the plug is in the engine, the starter is very tough to work, like it is jamming. Could this be engine failure? The engine spins freely when the plug is unscrewed/off. Can anyone offer any help? I hope it's simple. If i can't figure this out, then i'm lucky enough to have a model shop relatively nearby. Thanks in advance, Tommy
