    Rain

Another weekend of mostly rain! Did briefly get out for some woodland crawling but the tyres quickly filled with mud reducing traction! Maybe the rain will stop soon????
  2. Will take the TREAL Axial SCX24 Brass Black Diff cover Front or Rear ~ 11.2 grams £14 posted if still available?

    Rain

Does feel like all it has done lately is rain! And with this amount it will take a long time for the ground to be properly dry. I don't mind cleaning but like Strugglecuddle7 said, it can sometimes feel a bit frustrating to use a fast car for a short time and then have to spend an hour or so cleaning and protecting to try and avoid rusty bearings! I tend to use the crawlers more when it is like this in a local woods as that tends to stay a little bit more dry and the crawlers take less time and effort to clean.
  4. Guessing there are better players in the game as far as QC and revisions of weak areas. Losi revised the LMT axles to try and stop them breaking so some manufacturers do try and make things right. On the flip side my SCX24 Deadbolt is over a year old now and I still see recent reviews of the later cars such as the Chevy C10 where people complain about the charger so I guess Axial decided to just carry on with the same flawed charger. The good thing these days is that with all the YouTube RC content, it is hard for common issues to be ignored!
  5. Definitely some good advice in here but wondered how common problems are with RTR vehicles? I can't think of a good comparison at the moment, but if I bought an automatic watch, I wouldn't really expect to have to take it apart to make sure it was put together properly. I think my issue is with the wording of RTR when it should be RTR** (when you have checked screws, grubs, gear mesh etc etc) 🤣 All of which someone who is brand new to the hobby may not be comfortable or willing to do.
  6. Relative newbie here who like a lot of people is getting back into RC 25 years plus since my teens. Loving how much fun I am getting out of the hobby again but I have found that 'RTR' and more to the point QC seems to be a bit lacking these days. Maybe I have been a little unlucky but so far: -Axial Capra - radio not bound with receiver -HPI Jumpshot Flux - pinion and motor screws not snug causing spur to be eaten on 2nd run -TRX4 - 2 x tyres that were not even close to being balanced and wobbled like mad -Arrma Big Rock - wheel hub fell off (know this is common) -SCX24 - DOA charger (common fault which still seems to be an issue) My nephew is also into RC now and his FTX Mauler had a grub screw pop out the drive shaft in the 2nd use. I realise that there is a lot of moving parts and electronics in modern vehicles but the hobby feels like you need to know quite a bit even with a RTR. Have I been unlucky or is there an assumption with the hobby that you will probably have some kind of issue even with a brand new vehicle?
  7. Well 4x12 'works' but it would probably be better if I could have found some courser 3mm fixings.
  8. Still waiting for some fixings to arrive. Went for 4x10 and 4x12 to test so will let you know how they go. Didn't want to go too long since it will be eating into the casing and I have already shaved it down a smidge from an accidental wheelie on tarmac!
  9. Thanks for that - will teach me to skim read! Just checked mine and they do appear to be 3x15 so not sure why they dont fit still. Will have to try and find some 4 x 15.
  10. Can you give specifics of what size you used? Doesn't seem to be much meat around the holes so don't want to enlarge them if possible.
  11. Thought I would add the wheelie bar to my flux and ordered HPI 115495. Gone to fit it and the screws which mount to the back of the motor surround don't thread in what so ever? Thought I was going mad at first but neither side works and they just push right in to the neck!? Have HPI changed something on the design for the Flux versions and I have managed to get old stock?
  12. Thanks for the information! New spur arrived and I have now re-fitted the pinion and motor with a smidge of thread-lock on the grub and motor screws. Waiting for it to try and will test later today!
  13. New Flux owner here! Having some issues already and think the spur or pinion have parted ways. Only got to run it on 1 x 2S pack on grass and then a 2nd pack this morning lasted a couple of minutes before power died and I could hear the motor spin. Anyone aware of any issues with these? Quite new back into the hobby from a 25+ year break but already own a couple of other cars. I did see Greg at RCDriver have an issue with the motor moving but that was on a 3S pack after some jumps. Mine has only been run on the flat so a little disappointed with the initial experience. Waiting to hear back from Modelsport to see if they want to me to start having a look.
