  1. Well they're only about £12 for a replacement so it's not the end of the world
  2. Well I'm a bit worried because I was cleaning it out and a little piece of metal fell out. I'm wondering now if a bit of a stone got in and broke something. Will see when I get the new battery and charger. If that doesn't help then its gonna look like a motor swap is due
  3. Yea I already recalibrated the transmitter and that went as the instructions say it should. I'm wondering if it's because it's the USB charger and I've got it plugged into a twin socket with USB outlet. Perhaps the USB outlet is no good. I'll just have to try a few things, don't really want to have to swap the motor out as its one a few months old
  4. Hopefully it's that. Perhaps I've let the batteries run flat and it won't charge them right. I'll try and see if the new charger helps when it arrives
  5. Yea I took it fresh from the charger but I'm wondering if its because its that trickle charger it came with. I have 2 NIMH batteries and have tried both now. I have the Quantum Flux + on order with a 3S Lipo and the Overlander charger so I can charge the NIMHs up with that when it arrives. Could I have toasted 2 batteries already?
  6. Need a bit of help with my Maverick Quantum. It seems I have lost drive. I turn on the transmitter, it beeps. Then I turn on the car and it doesn't beep anymore. I can steer but no forward or reverse. Have I cooked the motor? Has the ESC packed up? Any help would be appreciated
  7. Fitted a new suspension arm to the Quantum MT. Was a straight forward job really. Just need to clean it up now. What are your best recommendations for cleaning? Just soapy water and keep it away from electronics?
  8. Just realised we've snapped the front suspension arm on the Maverick Quantum. Apparently this is a know weak spot so ordered another set. If they go again will have to consider one of those fancy material types
  9. Yea identical apart from inhave yellow and brown wires for some reason. Any way it was a doddle and I shouldn't have been so concerned about fitting it. I've had a look at the old one and really it just seems like the plastic servo horn is a bit chewed so maybe if I can get a new metal horn it might be good for a buggy build in future. I'm keen on putting a Tamiya kit together like a Neo Fighter or something but then I've nothing stopping me from just splashing out on an Arrma Typhon so I'm torn between what to do
  10. Replaced the servo in my daughter's Maverick Quantum MT. I don't actually think there is much wrong with the old one but it wasn't tightened up well from factory and the servo horn looks a little chewed up so I'm hoping that the all metal parts with threadlock applied will sort it all out. Was scary installing a servo for the first time as I've never done it before but after letting it settle into position and a few trial runs it's fine. Just letting it all cure now and hopefully I can fix up the old servo for a 2wd buggy build in future
  11. I think I have identified the issue in that the servo did not have thread lock installed as the servo horn had dropped away from the servo. I can get it running again but I'm concerned it may have stripped the thread now. New servo and thread lock has been ordered
  12. Took the Quatum out again and the servo went again. All the steering is loose and wobbly so I've ordered a 20kg full metal servo to arrive tomorrow. Never installed a servo so hoping it goes in easy enough
  13. That's what a lot of EV batteries will end up as. They go in your loft and attach to solar panels as a trickle storage solution. They're supposed to be good for a few decades.
  14. You might be surprised but one of the worst things on the market now are Air Pods and other such wireless headphones. They're just too small to be of any use and the batteries expire far too quickly. Then they're all glued together in such a way that makes them far too difficult to do anything with.
  15. I wonder what specific requirements someone would have for a Grasshopper besides bouncing it around the garden. 🤣🤣
  16. Nothing in stock anywhere. Only thing they've got in on modern 2wd chassis is Neo Fighter buggy. In terms of buying a buggy why would one choose a No ESC model? Is this because you would be expecting to install more powerful motor and electronics?
  17. I can see why people like kit cars. I had no clue what I was doing and was just undoing screws and bits and putting them all back together in reverse order. Reckon I'm gonna just pick up a cheap Tamiya buggy to get my hands used to tinkering in and around an RC car, they're a bit different to the toy Nikko I had 20 odd years ago.
  18. Lost steering to the Quantum. Dissassembled and reassembled the servo and it seems to be cured. No idea what happened just assuming something wasn't tightened up at the factory and needed sorting.
  19. I just disassembled it and reassembled it and it's working again. No idea so I assume something was left untightened at the factory. I'm yet to run it again in anger as I'm drying it off so I can dust off the grass and dirt. I have a feeling it was the servo horn and I have a feeling it might go again as the thread doesn't look great. I think maybe some wet grass got thrown up and gunked up the works. Either way I've got some new tools on the way and will look to pick up a servo or 2. Price wise there isn't much between any of them if you're getting a recognised brand. Oh and body pins. In a blind panic we lost one at the park so now I've 150 on the way
  20. Well we took the Quantum out today and had a blip around. Problem already we have lost steering. I think a bit of wet grass got into it. I think the servo is knackered. There is no resistance in the servo when you try to move the wheel, they just flop around. No damage to any of the steering arms or anything
  21. Hi, thanks for your reply. I've read similar as well and think maybe I'd be better off picking a better model like you recommended. By the time you've fitted oil shocks and what not you could have just bought a better model and saved money
  22. We finally settled on the Maverick Quantum MT in pink. It's the brushed model that comes with a 2000 mAh NiMh battery, I ordered an additional 3000 mAh NiMh battery with it from Modelsport. Should be here for Good Friday so will give it a little run out and install the cheap ebay headlights I ordered. The kids are gonna love it.... honest!! This one is going to the 10 yr old girl. The 12 yr old now wants to build a Tamiya kit with me so we are looking at a cheaper one that she can do herself with a bit of input from me. Probably gonna be the Rising Fighter as its a cheap and simple build
  23. Oh I've already got my eye on the Arrma Typhon 6S haha.
  24. I've no problem with a 2WD buggy personally as if I'm not far from Southport and might even consider joining their race club providing they cater to beginners. I don't know how I feel about spending £500 on a Losi or Schumacher lol. It'd be mostly for the kids so primarily a basher like a truggy really. I've not ruled out the FTX Carnage mind, just the daughter likes the fluoro pink Maverick. We've even considered a Tamiya to do the self build but price wise and performance wise I'm not sure what we would be getting.
  25. Hi and thanks for the reply. Something that has bothered me with all the FTX models are that opening at the bottom of the chassis that might allow dirt and grit to get into the motor and gears, as well as the receiver being battery hungry and that's why I'm leaning towards the Maverick Quantum at the moment. I still haven't made a purchase as it is partly for my daughter who is most keen. If we are using it a lot then I'll be tempted to buy myself something much better down the road anyway.
