Hi mate, I hope you're having better luck with your trucks than I did with my Quantum+ XT Flux. I sold mine on eBay this week as I wanted to cut my losses with the constant repairs.

I'll give you my honest opinion, I don't think they are terrible at all, they just can't handle 3S. It's just too much power IMHO and despite the ESC and motor being 3S capable I'd say the chassis, suspension  arms, rods and everything else just isn't really capable of having the extra force put through them. All my drive cups got chewed up and I've only really put about 15-20 battery packs through it in the time I've had it.

Mine was a rocket ship on 3S, really quick and got amazing air on the jumps but the truck would just be destroyed on landing. A little cart wheel was enough to smash the shell to pieces and break the wing mount. I highly recommend the HD wing mount as it is really flexible and not brittle at all, I'd say that's a pretty essential upgrade once you snap your wing mount because you'll just snap it again if you buy the standard one. Then the metsafil HD suspension lowers. I should have bought them immediately because I've been through 5 lowers in my time. If you just catch a kerb when sliding a corner then it's game over for the standard lowers. Also my rear Turnbuckle rod ends seemed to get warped so look out for that.

Again I'd say the culprit was me running it on 3S when the truck really isn't built for it. Keep it on 2S and it'll probably last much longer

    Hi bud!

Yeah, ours seems to be alright for what we do with them to be honest. I have heard the 3S is a bit too much for them, but we only run 2S as it's plenty fast for us.

I know they do HD drive cups as well as Metsafil do them I think now too. I had one of mine go, but I had a spare so just replaced it and no issues since thankfully. The little lads MT seems to be stronger than the XT, but they're both alright overall for us. Haven't had too much bother with them, and I enjoy fiddling around with them when I have the time. I did see the HD wing mount, but full transparency, I've just not ran with a wing on for ages haha. I have the Metsafil HD suspension arms, but haven't used them yet still, just waiting for the current ones to snap and then will switch them over.  My rear turnbuckle went on one side, so I bought some random beefy ones off eBay,  you can see them in the photos above. I have heard that I believe Traxxas ones fit and are much stronger, and I believe there are some HD versions and Metsafil versions flying about now too.

Just picking this thread up now I found it very helpful as a noob coming into RC with the Maverick.  On the above do you find your centre drive shaft loose I.e. it slides up and down the chassis?

also when I turn my wheels it doesn’t always turn the shaft, do I have a problem?

finalys come here to do the chassis brace mod you mention and your thread has stopped 😞

Haha, to be honest, we're noobs as well when it comes to RC. I didn't expect this truck to be rock solid like it seems a lot are at the price range, and the way they are driven. We've not had too many issues aside from when I have bad landings then things break, but that's my fault, not the truck or build quality I'd say. I'll check on the centre drive shafts later for you as I can't remember as I haven't had them out in a while and they need fixing up from the last session we went out on, just haven't had the time. You may have a problem, it just depends which wheels aren't turning. I found one of the pins on the centre shaft came out and we lost FWD on one of the trucks one before, or it could be the diffs slipping.

As for the centre brace, yes I've done that, and not updated the thread. Been less active as I've been mega busy the last 10 months with work and other things. For the brace, just buy some tubing, cut it to the exact size, stuck wall plugs in the ends and then use some bolts to stick it to the chassis. It's fairly simple to be honest, and I have to say it's made a massive difference. I'll see if I can get some photos soon.

Other updates, snapped a body post on the MT, body tower on the XT, the rear wing mount on the XT, and cracked the shell slightly too. Both need a good clean as I haven't had them out in a month or two now.

Hi,  what D was here did you use?  I have M5 15mm but they are bigger than the wheel bearing and I read somewhere it shouldn’t be, so seems if I have the wrong size?

    thanks in advance

I have no idea, I just took a few M5s from my work. The idea is just to fill the gap a bit better as someone else said.

Not sure on the grub screw bit as I don't see where you've asked the question. Seems to be a few posts flying about on it though?

  4. Hi All,

Just debating on selling my Ender 3v2 3D printer setup. I bought it about 10 month ago and used it quite a bit originally, but the last 6 month or so I have hardly touched it due to lack of time. I pulled it apart to fit some upgrades to it. It works fine, but I need to get everything into a external case (which I have printed already) and it's just taking up a load of space. Probably not best for someone brand new into printing, unless willing to take time to learn it all. Will come completely disassembled, but can revert back to OEM for additional cost.

Honestly, I'm in 2 minds with it still, but looking at sensible offers (looking for £500ish + buyer pays PayPal fees/shipping)/trades (looking for a PC/gaming PC parts, or maybe even a basher truck Arrma or something) more than likely. Literally spend a few hundred on upgrades plus the original printer as well as a load of time invested into writing the Octopus program.

    Spec as follows:

    • Ender 3v2 3D Printer and all OEM parts
    • Spare Glass Bed
    • Spare E motor
    • Upgraded/lengthened wires for external electronics case
    • Raspberry Pi 3b for Octoprint
    • a few Noctua fans
    • Upgraded fans
    • BTT TFT35 Display
    • Various LED strips including some addressable ones
    • Various screws/nuts
    • 3D Pen by Geeetech
    • Upgraded Metal Extruder x 2 (one on the machine and an additional)
    • Capricorn tubing (still sealed not installed)
    • New long length thermistors (need new hot end to fit)
    • New long length hot bed wires
    • 3 in 1 hot end (requires more extruders to be able to use, basically can run 3 filaments, but you need to change the Marlin code)
    • BTT E3Mini Board
    • BTT Octopus board
    • Webcam
    • Various connectors/tubing/heat shrink tubing
    • Additional ribbon wire
    • Additional Dupont connectors
    • Cheap wire crimpers
    • Kapton tape
    • Various electrical switches
    • Few spools of filament (black, blue, white, think I have a glow in the dark that needs some larger steel nozzles in order to print it)
    • Printed new external case for octopus board/pi to sit in with TFT mounted on top, unsure of entire fitment as it was the first one

Worked it out and everything parts wise is over £450 plus the cost of the printer. Literally a massive box of stuff for Ender 3v2 and 3D printing.

Can get more photos, but my storage is pretty full up on here, so DM me if you want more. Thanks for looking!

I managed to snap the rear wing mount and, as sure as night follows day, this is a part that isn't in stock anywhere. Luckily I've been able to order a HD one from Portugal of all places.

Other problem is that the rear axles have bent and the wheels wobble everywhere, I've managed to bend them back into shape but am resigned to buying the HD universal shaft and axle for both the rear wheels. I've also ordered some larger M5 washers as the shims behind the 14mm hex are supposedly the reason the axles bend so easily.

There isn't much support for 14mm hex wheel sets so I think I'm going to drop it down to 12mm and get some different wheel and tyre sets to try.

I've also noticed that all of my drive shaft cups are starting to get warped so they'll be another upgrade down the line.

It isn't a terrible truck but there are a few points of failure and there are just not many upgrades available. I'd have bought aluminium suspension arms if they were available but it seems nobody produces any.

Yeah, I snapped the rear wing mount and just never bothered to replace mine yet. I have one, just laziness at this point. Mind I also snapped a tower as well, so probably will replace them both when I get some spare time.

Yeah, the washer hack is a must, even before running the first time. Your truck should have came with HD axel and shaft upgrades as I believe they started sending those out as normal.

I think this gets a really bad rep., but for the price point it works for me. I dind't expect it to stand up to heavy hard bashing at a skate park, but mine seems to break just doing little jumps. Little lads MT version however seems spot on and hardly broken anything *knock on wood*

    offers?

Amazon Prime a case of lager 😄

Why you selling? I thought you just got this not so long ago lol had it been earlier I probably would have taken it off you as I just built a PC for my son with a B550 lol

Ok thanks for the advice. Is a tyre upgrade normally worth it? More grip would be good.

    Any recommendations?

In my opinion, if you want more grip, then yes. But it depends on where you're running it for which type you'd need.

XT handles like rubbish compared to the MT on the field, and that's down to the tyre treads.

Haha, I just saw your post on Facebook. 3s now 😄 Great photo. What camera you using? 🙂

Yes, the BMX track. No, but it's much better than my big empty fields 😄 my son is getting bored I think. Need to find some place to bash properly with some jumps now I think.

Hello from London! It's been around 2 months since purchased MT Flux. Love it so far! Managed to drain about 50 battery packs and no major problems, replaced front lower arms to Metsafil, oil in shocks to 500 ( front) and 1000 ( rear).  Quantum+ springs (9 coils), M5 washers. Lovely little car! Have a great weekend!

All this Hobao talk is kinda wasted on me, as just not buying anything other than a crawler of some kind, and thats not saying the Hobao is anything but great just not for me no more, need to shift the Maverick 80HD, more than likely the jumpshot and Vantage, then see what i will get kinda liking the Gmade buffalo kit, i should also sell the blackfoot and maybe the carisma f-150 but more than likely keeping them TBH i dont think i can part with the Blackfoot, even if i rarely run it

Not liking the Quantum Flux then? lol

Looks like a great deal, just ordered one myself! 😄

Aye, not bad is it. Decent little kit by all accounts when I've opened it up. Nice case too which was the attractive bit for me (like to try and keep things somewhat tidy!)
