1. FOR SALE 36cc Rovan Baja I’ve had this car from new and only had a few tanks through it. It is in very good condition with some upgrades and a huge amount of spares to keep you going for a long time. I am selling as a ready to run kit and ideal for someone wanting to get into the hobby. Upgrades on the car: · Killswitch – Switchblade 2 · Mesh mod to the engine (to prevent dirt/stones getting in) · Outerwears to air filter, shocks and pullstart · New orange rear chassis plate · Near plastic rear chassis plate cover · New red/orange clutch bell carrier · New orange rear pin brackets · Aluminium wing pegs · Metal steering servo horn · Rear metal bumper to protect exhaust · Front chassis reinforcement bracket · Hardly used rear Mad Max wheels and tyres – brand new Mad Max front tyres · Windows/doors to keep dirt out · Home made quick release rollcage The car has been meticulously maintained by me. The diff has been filled with the correct oil, the gearbox has been coated with the proper red and tacky grease, all crucial metal on metal bolts have blue Loctite. Fires up first time easy, runs like a dream, tuned perfectly. Still on the original spark plug but comes with a brand new spare one. As well as the car you will get: · The transmitter with phone mount glued to the bottom · Barely used set of quality allen keys · Manual · Metal wheel nut remover (comes with plastic one too but it sucks) · 8 rechargeable AA batteries with a Vapex fast charger with LCD display · Electric screwdriver (absolute life saver) with USB charge cable · IMAX fast charger for the car battery itself · Car stand · Plastic 5L jerry can with some mixed 2 stroke fuel in there · Bottle of (some used) 2 stroke oil suitable for car · 1 litre leak proof top up fuel bottle (easier to fill than using jerry can when on the field) · Temperature gauge · Stanley field carry box (ideal for carrying tools to the field or wherever you’re using it) · Stanley spare parts box Spares including: · Complete brand new orange bodyshell and wing · Brand new pull start · Brand new spare foam filter · Brand new rear suspension bracket · Brand new spare clutch · Piston stopper tool · Oil for diff and shocks · Brand new spare spark plug · Brand new coil pack/spark plug igniter · A bunch of new and older bolts/washers/nuts · Brand new diff seal · Brand new turnbuckle ends and ball ends · Spare fuel line I think that just about covers it. Lastly please watch this video to see it running: https://youtu.be/F-11iG54BkE Price: £500 OVNO Cash on collection and collection LE17 only due to size and amount of stuff it comes with. No refunds due to nature of the hobby. Can be seen running. Only selling as I don’t have the time to use it due to new career but it was a lot of fun. Invested a lot of time and money to get it nice and robust with plenty of spares to keep you going for a long time. Good set up for a beginner as it has everything you need, but some mechanical knowledge is preferable as these are not toys and can be quite a challenge if new to the hobby.
2. Hi I'm having issues with the ball ends popping off my baja. I tried this metal one which didn't help, still popped off and the nylon ring thing inside it came out with it. Is there a better solution other than getting a sym steer kit? I've seen some ball ends which have a groove to put a small Eclip on them but can't find any of that style for a baja Thanks
3. My Baja has the pigtail style pipe on it. I'm not THAT fussed about the loudness of it, but I do feel a bit inconsiderate when I go to a quiet (but large) public park. Kids can be heard playing in the distance, couple dog walkers. Then I stroll in and fire up what sounds like a chainsaw on steroids! I've cut the pipe near where it bolts to the engine in order to do the flex join mod. See pic: So this does give me access to play around a bit. I could get the Rovan clamp on silencer but I've heard its not that great. I have 2 potential ideas 1. Install a screw going across the tip of the pipe. Apparently this works for motorbikes, the screw 'cuts' the airflow leaving the pipe end and apparently makes it quieter. 2. Pack the pipe with something such as wire wool or proper exhaust wadding. Problem is I dont have enough access to ensure the wadding is only at the sides. So I might end up restricting the pipe too much. Thoughts?
4. I made this vid a while ago, could be useful to someone. Absolute best mod I've done for my car, keeps it very clean
5. Thanks I posted it there too. I've been on the forum a while now I just don't post much. I have a Rovan AS1
6. Title I live in Lutterworth South leicester shire and I'm looking for a good open place to take my 5th scale petrol (after lockdown) Anyone know any good places? Prefer gravel/dusty type surfaces with some light jumps

8. Actually there is one more thing, this random spacer thing, its plastic. It fell out at some point and I have no idea where it goes. 2 other conical shaped ones fell out also which had a little notch in it. I figured those out though, front lower shock mount spacers. This single one though I have no idea. Ive put it next to those other spacers and the wheel nut so you get a sense of scale Also a random but funny thing I found. In the rear drive boot I found an E clip (same size as the spur gear clip) just laying there in the boot! I double checked it hadnt come off somewhere important but it hadnt, must have been in there from the factory. Edit: I thought maybe it was a fuel tank bushing but nope, its plastic even though it looks like rubber Also if you use Whatsapp it would be great if we could chat on there
9. Wow you're a Baja god. Thanks a lot man. Its a new Rovan AS1. I took it apart to use proper grease in the transmission and to fill the diff. I also did the mesh mod (hence engine out) on the engine itself and the pullstart. Ive also fitted a front chassis brace and put some outerwears on the shocks and checked their oil level. On disassembly i didnt do it very neatly hence the confusion but its almost back together now, hoping to run it on xmas day. Thanks
10. So basically i stripped the whole car down to inspect and locktite bits that needed it. As the car is now the engine is out, the clutch carrier and spur gear plate thing is also removed. I have these bolts remaining and I cant remember where they go. I do have the main carrier bolts and spur plate bolts slid into their holes ready to go on, as well as the flywheel cover bolts (except the 2 which go in from under the chassis) Could someone help me figure out where these bolts and spacers go please? From what I gather, 2 of them must go under the chassis and into the bottom of the flywheel cover. I think the large spacer goes under the clutch carrier? The long bolt I have no idea The 2 large headed hex bolts I think go on the centre rollcage mounts maybe? Im lost lol, my own fault for not being organised
11. Looking for an unmolested one in VGC and preferably few if any upgrades
12. Battery cars are basically toys, petrol cars are real mens machines
13. So what has broken on it so far and how many tanks have you had thru it?
14. Hi Im currently pricing up upgrades I want to get. Im stuck now on the rx battery. The one it comes with I have heard only lasts about 40 minutes, so I'd want to upgrade it. I have no idea what charger the car comes with, i assume some basic trickle charger? In which case I want to get a better Nimh hump pack which will fit in the standard battery box, and maybe a fast charger too depending on if its required. Ideally 2-3 hour run time would be good if such a battery exists? Any recommendations? Thanks
15. Hi I'm going to buy a rovan 305a soon and I am compiling a list of essential upgrades and want some suggestions. So far I have: Front metal skid plate to reinforce the known weak spot on the chassis Front and rear shock tower brace to prevent the top of the shocks popping off Pullstart, clutch cover, air filter and shock covers Killswitch (which one?) Better rx battery and better charger (which one, I have no idea? Blue locktite Thats all I have so far
16. Im looking at getting my first 5th scale 2 stroke but Im torn between Rovan and King Motor. Specifically the King Motor 001 OR 002 (worth the extra?) Vs Rovan 305A OR Rovan AS1. From RCmodelz I've heard anecdotal evidence that KM has better engines but inferior plastics and Rovan engines are trash and break very quickly.
