  1. Hi all, I have a Kyosho Nitro that crashed and has damage to the prop shafts (maybe wrong terminology) and also the clutch mechanism (also maybe wrong terminology). I think I have the spares required and I've tried to repair it best I can but have run out of time and patience (and knowledge) and would like it professionally repaired and checked over. Could anyone recommend someone in the Hampshire area (I'm near Winchester) say Basingstoke, Southampton, Portsmouth, etc... Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi, thanks for your replies and help. So, I checked the tank and fuel lines, all are fine there appears to be no air leak (that I could detect without any specialist equipment!), there seems to be no leaks and fuel is flowing if I blow from the exhaust end. I managed to get it started again yesterday and taking a closer look at the fuel lines, it did look like it was slowly going into the carb, but all I can get out of it with each start is about 30 seconds, and I think that's only because I drop a drop of fuel into the carb, once that burns off, it seems to die again. The only thing i didn't to was to bleed the fuel through right up until the carb, I guess I could do that. During the 30-odd seconds it runs, it does seem to respond correctly to the control, but it just dies off after that period of time each time. Above was mentioned a retune to factory settings, any idea how I'd go about that? Thanks again for your replies and assistance.
  3. Hi, thanks for a quick reply and your help. Good things to look at, interestingly, the tank took a pounding and one of the two bracket bits broke off, I wonder if there is more damage than I had noticed, maybe a hairline break or something like that, I'll check. I guess it wouldn't take much of a split to lose the pressure so I'll check that out. I've already ditched the old fuel and replaced with new, so that should be fine. Glow plug looks fine, I checked it with the igniter thingie(!) A couple of questions... 1) How would I clean out the carb? Is there anything I can use? 2) How would I 'factory reset' the tuning? I'll need further help with the linkages as I can't remember how to put t=some of them back, I've got the carb one on, but the other bits I can't remember and was struggling to get them back in the right place. Truth is I wanted to get it at least started to see if I had engine damage after the crash, but the engine does start and runs, allbeit for a short period, but as I mentioned, I think that is more due to a problem with the fuel feed than anything else. Thanks again.
  4. Hi all, Following a bit of an accident I had with my Kyosho Inferno ST 3.0 (smashed it into a post), I've finally got all the bits to put it back together again. I've managed to get it started by dropping a few drops of fuel directly into the carburetor and warming up the engine and I can crank it and it starts, but then it dies again. It looks like no fuel is being pumped from the tank into the engine. I've got no idea why this may be happening. Unfortunately I'm not that good with nitro/fuel engines so I really don't know what to look at. Would I be correct in assuming that it's the exhaust that pumps air into the tank, which in turn pumps the fuel from the tank back into the engine? If not ,how is the fuel fed from the tank into the engine? As part of the bash it took, the exhaust does have a small dent in it and I'm wondering if this is the problem. Any ideas what to check or look at? Maybe it needs some adjustment somewhere? Thanks in advance for any pointers.
  5. Just to add my limited experience regarding the engine not starting and having to heat the engine, I found that if I do not pre-heat mine, it will simply not start at all. I purchased one of these and the problem went away and started pretty much straight away
  6. Thank you all for your comments and replies, I've ordered what I think are the correct bits, will put it all back together and see if I can get it going again. Once I get the bits and fit them, then I can test the engine and see if that fires up, if not, I think its toast 😞 Of course I'll check all of the above to try and determine why this happened in the first place. Thanks again., much appreciated.
  7. Hello all, thank you very much for your replies. Yes, this is intact: Thank you for all the pointers, I was thinking it could be 3) but it shouldn't have got stuck at full throttle? This is the state of the clutch (or what's left of it): How could I check it is still working (without firing it up)? I'm not very mechanical, are there any things I can try before putting it all together and checking? Fail safe? This is my bad, I wasn't even aware of this functionality, I guess I need to RTFM! So, I'll order this and this and put it all back together and obviously check over the throttle servo and see if I can fire it up 😞 I still don't know if the engine died too. Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it.
  8. Hi all, First, hello, first post here, and my first nitro RC. I have very little experience with nitro RC's so please be gentle! On my second outing something strange happened and the RC went into full throttle out of control speed off into the distance and eventually hitting a post. I need to figure out why that happened, but first I need to find out if it is salvageable. The front suspension popped out, no biggie, I popped it back in, seems OK. The fuel tank support (one of them) broke, I can fix that. The front prop shaft has bent, so I'll need a new one, looks like i can get them off eBay. Now to the difficult bits... When it hit the post, it was still full throttle until the engine cut out (I do not know why yet, the engine could be toast also) but where the RC actually died when it hit the post there were bits of metal(?) on the ground that, after more careful inspection, seem to have come from the part in the image labelled IFW110 and/or 97053. I think some sort of clutch mechanism (?). While I can see that these parts are available separately, which is great, I'm not sure I'll be able to put them together myself and make it work, is this part available as a whole? I've seen the engine available, but it comes without this part on it. Basically the parts inside seem to have completely shredded themselves (the 97053 bits). To a lesser degree, the exhaust is also dented, but hopefully this will not impact performance too much? Finally, due to my ignorance around engines, if I try and turn the engine, it won't move freely? It seems to stop a little when trying to rotate, but I think that is normal? I guess I'm trying to gauge whether this needs to go in the bin or not at this stage... Then I need to try and understand what caused this in the first place, Any pointers on how to tackle all of this? Thank you in advance for any help!
