  1. Ok, I found how to edit the title. Had to alter the contrast on my screen a bit to see the "Report, Share, Edit", drop-down text.
  2. Schumacher Cougar Laydown. Came to me used, but very clean looking. Basically a plug and play, including one lipo, for £190 including a small tub of spares. 2 more of the same lipo arrived on the same day, and an alternative shell the other day. OMG, I haven't painted any body shells in years! 🙄 Heh, it won't stay that clean for long. Apparently it was raced mostly indoors, and infrequently. Which is why it got sold on. So I'll have to thrash it up and down the road for now. Race tires are on the way too.
  3. Hmm, why am I seeing a difference in the tire beads? https://www.racing-cars.com/cut-stagger-yellow-slim-pr-u6759?returnurl=%2fsearch%3fq%3dcut%2bstagger%2byellow https://www.racing-cars.com/cut-stagger-low-profile-yellow-pr-u6770?returnurl=%2fsearch%3fq%3dcut%2bstagger%2byellow The second, low profile, has the sidewall set back from the outer lip of the wheel rim. Seems to me that will allow a different kind of flexing than the other one, even when glued.# ( I worked in the full size tire trade many decades ago )
  4. Thanks peeps. And now it's goodbye from my hello thread! Unless someone wants to say hello, obviously.
  5. Oh! Hahaha! How did I manage such a humongous erroneous brain fart!!!!!????? Associated! DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuh! 😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋 Actually it's prolly because I love the early Associated RC10 and was talking about them elsewhere on the forum. And now I see I can't edit the thread title. Can a mod delete the word for me or do I have to look like the numpty I am for ever?😋 Apart from that, thanx for the tips you guys. This Cougar has Minispike 2s, not glued, all round. Probably ok for grass or average dirt, so I guess I'll use them to play around until racing re-starts, hopefully in early summer, and order in some of the recommended types. in the mean time. Hmm, I'll have to get more dirt tires anyway as these won't survive tarmac bashing. Cheers guys. 😋
  6. Hello! . That's it really. 😁 . . Haha! No, but, well, I did post something on here in 2019 apparently. I'm old but new on this forum. Re-starting a bit of racing and also crawling with rocks. I also fly RC gliders/planes a bit.
  7. Hey guys, I just acquired the above mentioned machine and hope to re-commence racing in a few weeks (lockdown ending?). So I'd like to hear a few suggestions for tire choices to run on the world famous Tiverton RCCC Astroturf track. I have a feeling that the pinspike fronts that came with it will be a bit too grippy, but I don't actually have any experience on astro. I've previously (years ago) raced on dirt, grass, asphalt, floors and carpet. Also, this has a plate type slipper, so I'll ask, would a ball type be preferable? Someone mentioned it, but they may have said ball diff. Cheers, Cheapo. 😁👍
  8. Hehe, I just bought one of these on a whim while browsing a local-ish Action Model Center in Torquay. For £109 all in, I know it's effectively toy grade, but with 4 wheel steer options, and about 75 degrees of articulation it's all fun so far in my living room! I've already thrown out the foam mouses from the tires and softened the suspension a little. There is oil in the dampers but the chassis and shell are so light that it just bounces off the floor when dropped from 12 inches up. The on/off switch is actually soft neoprene or something, you have to squidge in and hold it to switch it. And the central lower half of the motor/diff housing is removable, presumably for servicing or repairs/replacement. There are four different sizes of ballraces in the spares selection and I've already seen the inner/outer drive hub ones, so the others must be at the inboard end of the drive shafts and in the gearbox. Hmm, hang on, I'll check. Nope, can't get the steering hub carriers off as the drive shafts coming out of the diff casing have pressed in metal pins for the PLASTIC STEERING DRIVE CUPS. So I can't move the carriers out far enough to separate the diff/motor casing!! I'll do it if I have to, but not right now thanks! Anyway, despite having a goodly bunch of ballraces, it's still a toy with plastic drive cups with no optional metal upgrades. Do any of their others have metal drive cups? Maybe they'll fit.
