  1. Greetings! I recently dug out my old Lazer ZX and would really like to get it running again. The only problem being that I need a few bits and can't find a decent supplier for this model. Any old Kyosho fans out there know of a good place to source parts? Tried the usual Ebay but finding little for the old Lazer there. I was even prepared to buy another car as a donor but, surprisingly, not a classic Lazer in sight. Are these cars quite rare or sought after? The bits i need are a pair of front C-hubs as one has snapped and the other looks like it's heading the same way. Also require the front alloy steering hubs as both lower kingpins have snapped off inside them and it looks way too small to try drilling and tapping them out. Also a set of kingpins for the aforementioned reason. It may be possible to adapt the above parts from a Lazer 6 or 7 to fit as they look similar and parts are more readily available. Any Lazer 6 or 7 owners out there who could send me some close up pics of the front hub assembly please? Seems such a shame for this old classic to continue to collect dust for another 30 years so any help would be hugely appreciated. Cheers! Jonny
  2. Thanks Viper 👍🏼😀. Yep, the more i look into brushless and LiPo the more i'm tempted... I can see that my initial thoughs of this being a fairly inexpensive hobby were maybe a tad naïve hehe!
  3. Holy moley you weren't kidding when you said waaaay more oomph! Just watched some youtube vids of folk running brushless with LiPos... Ludicrous speed!!! One guys rc buggy hit 107mph! Yeah, after 30 years i think i may just ease myself back into the hobby with a brushed motor 😛. Don't think my reactions (or eyesight) are quite good enough to deal with that amount of mental hahaha!
  4. Thanks for the welcome chaps! Praetor, ChisT was spot on, it was from Transformers The Movie (the classic animated one, not the migraine inducing Michael Bay nonsense of recent years) but it does sound like something R2 might have said hehe! Impressive list of cars you have there! What on earth is a custom scale crawler? Having fun reading through the very helpful guide threads on here seeing just how much the hobby has advanced in 30 years. Think i'll need to invest in a brushless motor and some NiMh battery packs as i fear my old NiCads will be deader than disco .
  5. Hello! For those wondering if i've gone mental, the title to this thread is a universal greeting quoted from an 80's movie... See if there's any other old nerds out there who can name it hehe. So, i'm Jonny from Glasgow and have just returned to the electric RC car hobby after 30 years! Used to race an original Kyosho Lazer ZX but have just purchased a second hand Yokomo Super Dogfighter 2, keeping it old school! I have loads of question but i'm not a forum noob so will head off and do some searching before i get a telling off by the admins... Only joking, i'm sure they're a lovely bunch! Looking forward to getting to know you lovely lot and hopefully, in time, getting along to some meets/races. Cheers! Jonny
