  1. Sorry to jump in OT in the Ops thread but you haven't got a link to the 6S Lipo battery you're using in your Arrma Typhon have you? Just looking at options. Thanks.
  2. No idea on it's value sorry. Best bet is to check for sales on here to see the prices similar ones have gone for as well as do a search on eBay to compare prices on there. Price will obviously be reflected in condition as well. Other option is to start a thread asking "what's it worth" if that's allowed. As for the added extras you could always remove the easy items like the wheelie bar and battery status monitor for a few extra pounds. Won't add a lot to the Savage used price imho.
  3. I know what that's like. I've loved and lost so many R/c vehicles over the years I must be mad. Some I wish I could have back and others I know I did the right thing getting rid of when I did as I put the money towards other "toys" or hobbies. Have you got much money in the Savage or is it mainly standard? If it's modded I'd highly suggest you sell the mods separately and go back to stock as you'll make more money selling it like that as well as increase the chances of more sales. It is a decision only you can make but personally I do think it makes sense to sell the Savage if you've no where sensible to use it and you're hankering for something new & exciting. Like a new truck build.
  4. This R/c nitro 1/10th scale car started off as a standard Thunder Tiger TS4-N Sport that my father bought me as a Birthday present. Over a few years I added pretty much every Sabattini aluminium upgrade part, carbon fibre part and titanium part that was available for the car. I changed the body from the standard Subaru Impreza body to a new-age HPI Impreza body with some added details like miniature bonnet pins, real mesh grills and a custom paint job that I did myself. I also at that time added some expensive genuine 2 piece alloy wheels which were CNC'd in Japan so cost a pretty penny. Later my lovely fiancee bought me a Pro series .15 Nitro engine to which I added a better air filter, self modified exhaust manifold and Sabattini exhaust pipe. This was coupled together with a two speed gear box so it was a pretty fast car by the end. Unfortunately by the end it was also a pretty expensive car so it was relegated to being just a shelf queen as I didn't want to damage it which is a bit sad really. In the end I sold it on for someone else to hopefully enjoy.
  5. Very well done on the MAN Craig. Pictured under the right conditions you'd never know it wasn't a full size one honestly. Like the Savage too. ?
  6. Welcome aboard. That thing is huge. ?
  7. Thank you to everyone that's contributed so far as I do appreciate the time taken to respond. I did find Hobby King online but wasn't sure where they were located, ...is it UK based then? Are you guys who are using them based in the UK? To give you an idea on my budget ~ What I'm looking at trying to get is a suitable mains powered charger (suggestions appreciated) with (x2) Lipo 3S batteries (11.1V each/XT-90 connectors) OR (X1) Lipo 6S (22.2V with XT-90) battery for around the £140 mark tops. I like the idea of having just the one 6S battery purely so I'm not trying to stack batteries on top of each other or side by side. Been trying to find the size of the battery tray for the Arrma Typhon as I don't want to get batteries which don't fit in the tray or allow the lid on. Will be ordering the car this weekend so I guess I may just have to wait until I've got it before getting the batteries and charger. These are the batteries Modelsport UK do as part of a package deal with the car although part of me thinks they're awfully expensive for what they are especially with the discharge rating being fairly low. Link: https://www.modelsport.co.uk/index.php?product_id=404161 This seems more like it and better value but then again I'm still unsure if the size would be a problem: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-battery-nano-tech-5000mah-3s-65-130c-lipo-pack-xt-90.html?___store=en_us This is more complicated than I thought it would be and we're only talking about batteries for goodness sake. ?
  8. Hello all, so my first proper thread and really hoping I'm not posting one of those threads that comes up all the time with the regulars sick of helping. ? I'm no stranger to R/c vehicles in fact I've had many over the years but also sold them all at one time or another. Even so I could do with some help please from those more knowledgeable than myself especially with regards to going fast using brushless electric systems & Lipo power. This Christmas my lovely Mrs bought me a Tamiya Hornet (re-release) kit so as soon as I could I went out and bought the kit familiar to me to get it up & running; namely an ESC with a 15T brushed motor. That car is not what I need help with but just wanted to give you an insight into what has rekindled my interest in R/c cars again. I'm considering buying an Arrma Typhon 6S BLX 1/8th scale buggy after researching a lot of options including 1/10th scale short course trucks and the like. It will mostly be for running on road which is why I started looking at people on Youtube with Arrma Typhons and came across people doing high speed runs, ...this is now the route I'm looking at going. So for starters the buggy will be standard although I will put in the higher toothed pinion included to attempt to get to the "on box" claimed 60mph+. I'm no stranger to high "ish" speed R/c vehicles but I'm not going to try to run before I can walk so will start off like that. My only experience before now with Lipo batteries is with my old quadcopters, in particular a "Hubsan X4 Pro H109S High Edition". So I've been informed that for high speed car runs I need a battery with at least 5000Mah and preferably 60C minimum. Sound right?? Looking at Modelsport UK for example with their Arrma Typhon deals including batteries they're best deal includes (x2) 3S 5000Mah Lipos which are 35C (with XT-90 connectors). My question/s is/are; Can anyone tell me is it better to run one 6S battery or two 3S batteries or doesn't that make a difference? Any recommendations for firstly; where to buy batteries and secondly; what type to suit high speed runs? Please bear in mind the batteries I'm after would need to have XT-90 connectors fitted please to suit the Arrma Typhon 6S. My budget isn't huge for this so I don't want to waste my money on Lipo batteries that aren't up to the task. This section seems quiet but I'm hoping to tap some knowledge from some hopefully. Thank you.
  9. Yes exactly. The Lancia I had adorned a shelf in my bedroom just above my Tamiya Madcap for a long time but I never spent anytime on getting it fixed up and running. Thought about it years later after I'd sold it but at the time didn't even realise it too was a Tamiya. Just too young to notice the details of it I guess.
  10. That reminds me of a "Lancia Martini" rally R/c car I had when I was maybe 12 or 13 years old back in the early 1990's. Not my picture below but it was the same car and you can see the chassis looks the same or at least similar to the one you posted... I bought it used from a jumble sale but never got it working and in the end I think I sold it at a jumble sale myself. Wish I'd have kept it now (along with tons of other R/c things I've sold. ?
  11. As Jumper said I don't think particularly any R/c car on the market in kit form is really that hard to assemble providing you can follow/read instructions and use basic tools like screwdrivers. Sometimes in the past the biggest problem could have been setting up the ESC/receiver but even that's a doddle in most cases nowadays with built in "bind" buttons & one button set ups. Have you thought about where you are going to run it Rondo89? I love the 1/10th scale touring/GT/rally cars and the like but sometimes when I've had them in the past finding good areas to run them can be a PITA. Even the rally ones with raised suspension heights can be problematic. Albeit the one you're looking at is a slightly larger scale so should be a little better.
  12. Thank you AJ. No stranger to forums but this is my first R/c forum. ? Tbh trying to learn more about brushless systems as it's a system I've not had in an R/c vehicle before other than my quadcopters/drones.
  13. Hello everyone, Just joined here as I thought it'd be a great place to learn more about one of the hobbies I love. I've had plenty of R/c vehicles including lots of Tamiya electric models and some nitro models, ...more recently had some decent quadcopters including a Hubsan X4 Pro H109S High Edition but decided to sell to fund other "toy" purchases. Hope to contribute to the forum where I can. ?
