  1. That hump pack looks ok, only thing is the connector of the hump pack think you'll find its a three pin plug but HPI use the two pin connector so like Ziggy says you will have to make a small lead to converter the connector over. Only place i've seen a lead is with the HPI hump pack linked to earlier in the thread, only way to get it is to buy the HPI hump pack but it costs £18 so is expensive unless you want a spare hump pack.
  2. Yes i saw the base settings for the T15 engine on the Rush Evo on the HPI dvd that came with the car, at least you can find the base setting correctly by closing your HSN and turning out three complete turns. The G3.0 engine on the Firestorm is different, HSN should sit flush with the top of the needle housing not the main carb body. Instructions don't give any information about number of turns out from closed or anything, so in my eyes someone can set the needle slightly wrong as the needle "feels" flush with the needle housing for perhaps nearly half a turn which can make a big difference to the mixture.
  3. Cheers guys, I'll look into getting a warmer plug, i did think about a warmer plug especially as it ain't too warm at the minute! Not too sure about winding the needles all the way in, the manual warns against this as they say it can damage them i guess some people are heavy handed! Both HSN & LSN are flush with the carb body so should be set to factory settings. Cheers,
  4. cheers guys for your continued advice, When i say it cuts out at high revs it seems to be right at the top of the rev range, getting up to high revs doesn't bother it apart from a standing start where it seems to bog down. I got a HPI DVD with the car and it goes through setting up and tuning, same as the HPI tuning videos that are posted in the tuning sticky in this forum. I got the impression from the DVD that if it was too lean then it will cut out about mid-high rev range instead of near max revs, also the car(Rush Evo) they featured the engine seemed to "scream" when too lean but mine sounds normal. Perphaps the best way forward is to keep it on the base settings and see if it loosens up any more, also change to 20% tornado? Thanks.
  5. thanks for the suggestions guys, i'll have a run out with it tomorrow. Alex, i only leaned out by a 1/8th turn in the beginning. I can remember reading somewhere that MS fuel is quite oily so i'll try tornado next see how i get on with that, would swapping to 20% help matters? Ziggy, yes i checked the fuel and pressure line, i've never seen any bubbles in fuel line once its been primed, only oil seems to come out stinger. It had me stumped especially with the manaul saying to lean it by at least 1/4 turn on the HSN. When i lean out the HSN by 1/8 turn from base it doesn't sound like its running lean and there seems to be smoke at WOT but it just cuts out at high rpm. Anyway thanks again for all your advice
  6. Hi, I'm new to Nitro and i'm after some advice with my Firestorm tuning. I completed break-in of engine but now when i try to tune the HSN the car cuts out at high revs. The base settings are both HSN and LSN needles flush with the carb housing, i turned the HSN 1/8th turn clockwise from base setting to lean it out but the engine cuts out at high revs, thought this is sign of being too lean so i returned it back to base settings(1/8th turn anti-clockwise). At base setting the car doesn't cut out at high revs but still seems to be rich i.e. spitting oil out of exhaust, bogging down before accelerating and plenty of blue smoke. The manual says to lean out the HSN by 1/4 turns (upto 3/4 turn from base setting) but i can only seem to run on base settings. So was the car setup wrong at the factory or is there another reason, just seems odd that it won't lean out from base settings. For the record i'm using Modelsport 16% fuel and the engine has a standard R5 cold glowplug. Any ideas or suggestions would be grateful. Thanks,
  7. Hi, My mate just gave me a 6V Rx hump pack and charger for my new HPI Firestorm, only problem is is that the hump pack and charger are 3 pin while the power "loom" on my firestorm is a red 2 pin plug. I've tried my local stores and looked at Maplin but can't find any 3 pin to 2 pin connectors. I know i could make one up but don't fancy changing the connectors on the Firestorm. The bit i'm looking for is shown in the following pic: HPI Hump pack Does anyone know where i can get one form please? Sorry about the newbie question!! Thanks, Stiffler

Hey guys thanks for the welcome, Although i've yet to run the engine, i've been playing about testing the radio gear. One thing i have noticed is the fact that the steering trim on the TX needs to be set way to the right to get the front wheels aligned straight, is there anyway to adjust the steering servo linkage seen as the alighment is out so much? The instructions cover setting up the throttle linkage but not the steering. Many thanks for your help.
