Looking at the diagrams for my engine on the cml website I have a post 2016 with the blue collar on the carb inlet. The backplate appears to be shared with the hyper 30 but I think I’ll need the non p/s crank looking at the exploded parts diagram. I can’t afford to buy anything more for it this month so I’m gonna wait til the backplate arrives and see how it goes! If I have to change the crank am I going to need any special tools to do the job? I have the usual hex drivers etc but no flywheel pullers or suchlike. I’ve taken the backplate off and can see that the pull start has a funny coupling that pulls itself back inside the starter shaft once its fired up ( not too dissimilar to how the cold affects your willy ?

Evening! Have been lurking on the forum working my way thru the 900 odd pages in the nitro section, thought I’d better introduce myself! Had a couple of RC cars about 5 years ago - hsp backwash to cut my teeth on then a hyper 7 .28 when I realised everyone else’s cars were better than mine! Lost everything when i moved house tho which was a bit of a head ****! My girlfriend and I bought her son a hsp backwash for Christmas and I bought myself a hyper ST as I didn’t want to be teaching him how to get running and tune the car etc and not have something of my own (and better!) to play with! Looking at tweaking mine a bit so I’ll update as I go

I'm glad to have seen this, I've not long purchased a Hyper ST witrh .29 macstar engine. Couldn't find much useful info on the cops starter thing. I've ruined two pullstarts and because I'm an idiot I accidently threw the broken pull starter away last night ( I lobbed it in the fire only to realise my mistake as soon as I let go haha!) I cant seem to find a cops pullstarter but have wanted to convert it to rotostart for a while but nobody seems to list a cops compatible roto and I didn't really want to waste my monmey if one isn't gonna work. Last night after realised my mistake I ordered HE30022 - the non pullstart backplate as now I cant use the car til back of the engine is sealed. Do I need to change the crank or will my new backplate fit and work without any other items needing to be purchased? Thanks in advance
