  1. They look pretty aggressive electrics!! Many thanks Mond.
  2. Hi folks. I'm a bit confused with the internet's offers for HPI Baja conversions, so I hope someone where can help. I'm looking for a winter project, having done a couple of electric conversions on the 1/5 scale I thought it might be fun to do a Kraken, with the end goal being an electric 4wd truck. My workshop is not up to making parts myself so I'll have to be a spanner monkey, which is ok, not as much fun as it could be, but hey! So, is there anyone out there who can suggest sites or suppliers for the parts needed? Many thanks.
  3. Hi there. I'm looking for some very general advice that I can use as a starting block. With a 4wd truck, what basic steps will help with turn in corning? In other words I'm suffering under steer getting into corners. I've managed to tune all my small trucks to do just what I want, but this 5ive (e) is a different beast! There are no servo issues, no saver slack. The last toe setting from yesterday is pretty neutral, all shocks are around 50%. As I say, I'm looking for basics, something I can build some knowledge from. Many thanks.
  4. Hi there. For a while now I've just used M3 threaded bar for making turnbuckles/linkages, I really dislike kits and rtrs that come with solid plastic bars, you have to have some adjustment. The latest car to hit the garage was the Losi Tenacity DB, it's a lovely little thing, drives really well. Needs some replacement parts, but that was expected from the start. Replace the solid bars with something adjustable and I was able to get it handling really sweetly. Anyway, this isn't a Tenacity review... The question is, can anyone suggest a source for M3 rods that have right and left hand thread? Preferably with some kind of hex in the middle? I really can't be arsed with searching every car manual to try to match lengths, I'd sooner made my own. Or, I'm quite happy to thread rod myself, however stainless is an absolute nightmare when trying to cut threads, does anyone have an answer for this? Many thanks.
  5. Hi folks. Is there a place where unwanted transmitters and receivers go to die? Traxxas, Spektrum, Tactic, Core etc...... ?
  6. I was lucky enough the other day to pick up a Losi Tanacity DB, and have to say I’m quite pleasantly surprised. Of course the servo needs throwing out and replacing, and I had to swap out the received to get it on my controller, the off it went, really well. Very easy to drive. It really could do with adjustable front rods, it needs tweaking for my driving so I’m making some up tonight. And, white the shocks do a decent job they’re not great quality. Has anyone found any swap out shocks for one of these? Cheers.
  7. I have finally tracked down an alloy steering setup for the Super Baja Rey, GPM facing of all people. I notice they also sell 17mm hex and 20mm hex adapters for the big Rey. 17mm I understand, but 20? Where would I find a source of 20mm hex wheels? I would like to replace the wheels as they’re a bit stiff, but I haven’t anything the same size. Ant ideas? Many thanks. ?
  8. Hi folks. My DBXL has been on the bench for months now, I've been waiting for a steering upgrade. It arrived a couple of days ago and while fitting I thought I'd give it a good service. It's not had a hard life at all, it's had very limited time running or tarmac, it has mostly run in the garden on grass. To my surprise I've found all 4 rims have cracks add 2 tyres have substantial tares. Has anyone else had similar problems?
  9. I need to add a winch controller to a TRX4, I don’t want to add the weight of another battery so I need to power it from the driving battery, shouldn’t be a problem. Does anyone know of any deans splitters? I’ve had a bit of a look but can’t find any. Yes I can make one, but it’s a fiddly blooming job! Thanks.
  10. Limb risers. Excellent, thank you. I shall go and have a gander. Cheers!
  11. I have two trx4s on the bench at the moment one for someone else who wants a cool looking flatbed truck body, it won't bother him how difficult it is to fit as I'm doing it! I've seen a couple but they don't appear to fit the wheelbase all that well. All ideas welcome. As for mine, I'm sticking with the D110 body, I've seen the bonnet to roof ties on images, (I don't know the correct name) but I can't find any for sale through my suppliers, Amazon, Ebay etc. Anyone know where I might get a set of these? THey're not essential I just think they look good. Many thanks.
  12. Thanks for the advice, I honestly hadn't thought of velcro. I'm lucky enough to be able to print all sorts of brackets and things, so I might give the magnets a go, then order another body and set of posts, and do it how you've suggested!! Can we get Shoe Goo in the uk?
  13. Hi folks. A two part question for this one. I want to remove the body posts from a couple of crawlers. I'll glue some lexan offcuts behind the body holes and go the magnet route. 1. What filler would people suggest for filling the post holes? It'll need to be flexible like bumper filler, would that be any good? Yes, I'll be externally painting, 2. What glue would you use for sticking neodymium to the lexan? Many thanks.
  14. How would I run an esc from the mains power? (UK) Finding a power supply to kick out the number of dc volts needed isn't a problem, but what amps would I need to looking at? Many thanks.
  15. Correct, I want to drive a bunch more servos. I’ve poked my nose all over the pace, I realise now a hub is just that, no ‘real’ intelligence, and to drive the servos I need a decoder? I’m not sure about the last bit. I have both here to test with now but the usb programmer hasn’t turned up yet so I can’t test anything. Is the sbus decoder the wrong direction? And, will I be able to access the 1-8 or 9-16 channels from the 7PX?
  16. A friend has four dogs, yes four (loonatic), they’re all quite small and love to chase things. We had a great afternoon with them charging after the Nomad, but when captured the tires got a little ripped. I was expecting it, but maybe not to the exptreme they thought was reasonable! As above, the first nylon printed wheels were tested a couple of days ago and handle surpringly well. I was very surprised. I broke one today resting over a jump, but that’s not the end goal. I’ll put up a pic tomorrow if I have time. I haven’t yet borrowed a dog to test them thoroughly!
  17. I do like Losi stuff. It’s a shame the Eight is actually 1:14. Up top for the marketing department! thanks big gaz, I may well take it from you, I have to meet at the track next week so gauge the lie of the land so to speak. I think I’ll hire one for the first day, I may not get on with it. Or the people! I’m not a big fan of people!
  18. I've been invited to a local indoor track to run 1:18 Buggies. I have a few trucks but have never owned anything in the 1:18 scale. I've searched around for 'the best' 1:18 buggy and they all point to the Associated 18b which of course it no longer available. Is the latest Reflex on a par with the old 18, or should I be looking elsewhere? Many thanks.
  19. It's more to do with being dog proof!! I decided in the end to print some, they actually turned out ok. Absolutely no grip on tarmac but good fun, pretty amazing on grass and dirt. Now for final testing I just need to borrow a dog!
  20. Anyone know of any solid short course size tires/wheels? I'm looking for the kind of thing the smaller cars use for drifting. Any ideas? Many thanks.
  21. A quick test the other night with a savox micro servo appears to produce the same results without any modification, so I've ordered a couple more. I'll update the post when fully tested.
  22. HI there. Another TRX4 question... All three mini servos in the TRX kit (can't speak for the RTR) have some sort of resistor or diode on the signal wire, does anyone know what this is and does? I'd like to replace them and want to know if I need to replicate this or not. Many thanks.
  23. Hi there. Could someone with sBus experience please answer one very simple question? When do I use a hub, and when do I use a decoder? There, simple as that!
  24. Yeah, enough channels but it doesn't appear to support an ESC. I played about a bit with the transmitter last night and it does appear to do what I need, I can control up to 4 additional servos in a binary manner, or -100 / +100 on buttons, so as long as the sBus thing works as I think it does I should be ok. Whoop!
  25. Hi folks. A quick TRX4 question. I bought the premium kit which has been great to build. Before starting to build I bought the Landrover D110 body for it. It doesn’t appear to fit with the larger running boards and inner wings on the premium kit. Am I missing something or have I bought the wrong thing? Many thanks again.
