  1. Hi, Thanks. Don't think I'll be making any to sell on unless i make a proper jig/design to work from cause it looks good but it isn't 100% symmetrical, just made it for myself. Plus I have a 7 month old daughter so no spare time to make stuff at the minute.
  2. Decided to get a Power HD 20kg servo for the the throttle/brakes. Realised the abs is working just not strong enough for the hydraulic brakes. Tried out the brakes on a wet road and they work great, the car is a lot more controllable, stopping power is much better.
  3. Another upgrade; front brakes. They are a bit fiddly filling with fluid but not too bad, seem to work well, not tested driving hard yet. Also had a problem with my exhaust so put the ghost pipe back on with a silencer (a bit long now though). Fitted the rear bumper too. My throttle servo stopped doing abs, any suggestions on an upgrade?
  4. Added a bit of vinyl i had lying around.
  5. A bit of progress, managed to get hold of some aluminium but not enough to do it all. I may do the sides in plastic cause i want to make some fenders for the rear wheels anyway. Painted the cage too. Trying to do it with free stuff where possible otherwise i might as well have bought a truck conversion kit.
  6. I've lowered the top of the windscreen a little, I think it looks better, less toy like and a bit more beetle Before: After: I'm thinking i might try using ABS sheets to make the panels, I can build up sections using multiple layers for the bonnet snd glue it all together with solvent weld. And maybe use some netting/mesh for the windows.
  7. Thanks, I was wondering if i should lower the windscreen a bit to make it look a little less goofy and more Beetle like. I think I'll have a go at balancing the flywheel, but its more balanced than it was having broken fins. Ive only removed the fins on the front side, the rear ones are still intact so hopefully engine temps should be fine.
  8. Hmm not sure if I want it to pick up dents but it may be cool, it would be easier to work with though. Another little mod i just did was to lighten my flywheel seeing as the original pullstart decided to give up the ghost and damage some of the fins on the flywheel. It definitely seems to have made a difference, just tried it in my back garden. Just an FYI you can over tighten the flywheel as i found out, cause the flywheel was fouling on the crankcase and the car was really slow. Took it off again and re-tightened it less vigorously.
  9. Got all the welding done, just some tidying up before painting. I'm pretty happy with the way it has turned out so far.
  10. Got most of it done now, need to go over all the welds then clean them up, finish the rear mounting point and paint. Any ideas for making panels?
  11. Another little update. Need to reinforce it now and then make the mounting points (its just placed there at the minute).
  12. Well I've made a start on the cage and I've changed the design, I've decided to go Beetle shaped, always liked a baja bug. Here are some progress pics:
  13. Thanks. I'm getting a fender for the rear that should protect the pipe. The more i look at it though there's things I'll change a little; like i'll move the wing lower down on the rear above the exhaust pipes, beef up the sides of the cage to fill out the gap between the front n back wheels and extend the front end a bit to balance out the shape.
  14. Thanks, yeah like you say it's a cage on top of a buggy. Maybe one day I can build a proper sandrail but I'll have a go at the cage for now.
  15. Hello, just bought a KM 001 buggy and already wanting to do stuff to it. So far got a dual silenced exhaust and kill switch fitted. Got some wears for pull starter and filter and a new pull starter (plastic pawl broke in half) on the way. My main task is making a cage for the buggy as it looks a bit weedy standard, I've created a mockup with some bits of wire to get an idea of the style I'm thinking. Planning on using 8mm steel solid round bar to make it, anyone done anything like this before? Slightly worried it'll be a bit heavy, seen cages for sale but they don't say what metal they're made of. Anyway here are some pictures:
