  1. I have a Maverick Starda XB buggy, which I'd like to try some drifting with. I know it won't be a proper drifter unless I change all the suspension to the same as the DC, but for a starter I thought I'd get some drift tyres, and see how it goes, then maybe if I like it I'll change out the rest of the bits. I know I could get The Strada tyres, but To keep the cost of the experiment down I want to get some cheaper ones from eBay to start, so my question is... What tyres from eBay are suitable? What offset do I need? any advice much appreciated

  3. I'm not aware that you can re-program the esc, but if you can I'd be untested to find out how
  4. Do you ever do the gps speed test, I get 19.9 out of my stock brushed XB on a 6 cell NIMH & 27.5mph of rom a 3s, stock geared,
  5. Were you off road bashing,? what car?. Do you think the Alloy upgrades are OK for on-road only? I have fitted a washer as you suggest and that makes a good improvement
  6. @capri-boy's point proven then. I have been thinking, with no upgrades yet, and only a bit of off road bashing I have bent a shock and a dogbone, so the XB is not up to any serious off road, I don't want to keep just repairing/replacing broken bits. So I'm going to keep it for on road only and pimp it up over time to brushless/lipo, the esc and motor will go in my 2wd Falcon which is more sturdy and I'll use that for off road, it maybe 30 years old and have a few repairs to the tub and shock mounts but it never had anything else break.
  7. I was quiet surprised yesterday, when I compared my old 1/12 Falcon to the XB, the Falcon is only mm smaller
  8. @capri-boy I notice that in the picture the drive hex are different from stock, they look longer and metal, so are the stub axles longer too? What's the reason for these?
  9. You reminded me of my pimped up 1983 gun metal XR3i, those were the days!
  10. Hi Jim, i raised the same topic in another post, and got this reply from @Bix, the hubs etc are the same on the XB as the MT so I have ordered some to see if they are any better, I will also get some better bearings as recommended by @capri-boy There is a fair amount of flex in the arms, whilst this is more forgiving, I may try some Alloy ones
  11. Thanks for the link, why rubber seal bearings rather than metal? the Strada stock bearings/axle tolerance is too sloppy, not sure if it's the bearing or the axle. To find out I'll start with new bearings. new hubs are in order from China, they come with bearings but they will be cheapie so I might get some from rc bearings if they are better
  12. Thanks Bix, I think I'll get some XB ones. Are the bearings any better than the stock ones, on my XB the stub axle is a big loose in them so the wheels wobble a bit, and they are not very free running either, compared to the bearings on my old Tamiya Falcon
  13. Thanks for all your help, you are a Star!
