  1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gmade-Junfac-Aluminum-Side-Bars-Axial-SCX10-Honcho-Dingo-1-10-RC-Car-J20028-/381312993954?hash=item58c8068aa2:g:dusAAOSwyQtVklgA thanks bud there you go noj they are 30 odd quid from modelsport 25 quid from fusion hobbies or less than 20 quid from RCmart hong kong and they came pretty quick too, no slow boat haha its probably worth watching for a little bit to see if you can get the best exchange rate for your money.
  2. my pretty much finished EXC/FTX outback barrage cross over complete with scale diamond plate and mesh sliders roof rack with lights after a good while working on it (when I got round to do some) its now time to get it mucky looking forward to visiting Cannock chase soon. (its a bit rough in places, but hey I'm an amateur and it has been my first attempt at working on a rig) if you want anymore info about what I have done and how I have done it, ill be happy to answer any questions
  3. I've recently picked one of these up. fits brilliantly, I'm waiting for a new receiver to get my rig up and running. however. one the ebay page I ordered it from it mentions that it's waterproof. is it actually waterproof? as from looking at it it has no visual signs or stickers or writing on the box to say it is.. will be most disappointed if it's not..
  4. I do like this shape of body, I got one to do up my self so from this. to this it was my first time spraying up a lexan body, found it a little tricky, it is a little rough around the edges but for me I feel it looks great lol
  5. here it is I finally sprayed up my ftx shell for my barrage its a little bit rough around the edges, but hey I don't think its to bad for the first time i've sprayed one up I tweaked my barrage too with the bit of spare grey paint I had left looking forward to getting it muddy with the 2 shells its like I got 2 cars for the price of one haha how is everyone doing? its been a while since people posted on here.
  6. that summit with the apocalypse body looks beasty, like something out of mad max hehe, good job on the paint work the barrage is classed as slightly different scale, however it is closer to a 1/10 than a 1/12 so the difference is only a couple of mm I have changed 2 body posts for longer ones, specifically the ftx posts, and I have adjusted the bumpers to accommodate the slightly longer shell, other than that, I haven't made any modifications to the chassis or axles, the ftx ford, cruiser and lr bodies will fit the barrage easily and should look alright too I will post pics of mine soon.
  7. Haha, I love both Jeep and Land Rover to be honest best of both worlds in my eyes I will be spraying the inside of the shell and I may get some protective paint to go on the top of the paint inside to prevent scratches from stones or twigs etc.. yeah the acrylic says its for polycarbonate, wood and metal and i've used a scouring pad to finely scratch the surface on the inside to help the paint stick better. I still haven't got round to spraying it up yet. will do it soon haha
  8. Thanks for the advice, I shall order one very soon cant wait until its back up and running, since i've had it its spent more time in bits than in mud I have finally taped up and prepared my outback body for painting Hoping this will look good, going to be metallic blue and gun metal grey, with some black details, hoping the colour contrast will look good and as relatively realistic hehe I have used normal masking tape, as well as the masking strips that came with the shell. I'm extending the windscreen a little more and having the roof a bit like a jeep wrangler as I've mentioned before its going to be a little bit of a cross of a jeep and a landy, that hopefully will look good an ECX outback-barrage hehe it will be my first time I'm attempting this, I'm hoping beginners look comes into play hehe I've watched youtube videos on how other people spray their clear bodies up and they said to start with the lighter colours first, that being the blue I will be painting it up this weekend, if the weather is dry.
  9. hehe yep I will get that servo changed, I have a few ideas https://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-es092-digital-std-waterproof-metal-geared-servo/rc-car-products/378613 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/savox-sw0231mg-waterproof-high-torque-std-metal-gear-digital-servo/rc-car-products/377022 https://www.modelsport.co.uk/power-hd-lw20-waterproof-high-torque-metal-gear-servo-blue/rc-car-products/404890 - the one that you got Noj if I get one of those I'm not sure if I need to change the mounting plate, I know Noj you have got one of the ftx mountain plate, do you think that would be a good universal one to get?
  10. I hang my head In shame... I was wrong about the rig, nothing wrong with any of the electrics, the servo still sketchy but with everything else it still works the problem. well, before I took it back to the shop I decided to give it one last test, but with the original battery that came with it that i charged up, I plugged it in and it worked fine... I plugged my other battery in, the bigger one I brought for it, and it still kept cutting out. I know on the Saturday night I charged it for 9hrs, so I presumed the battery was faulty. So I took the battery back, and asked them to test it. They said it was very low charge, I asked how could that be when I know I charged it up for 9hrs, he said because the chargers that come with the barrage are analogue trickle chargers, it didn't register that there was charge going into the battery, so they put it on their digital charger in shop then tested it on a rig n it worked fine. basically didn't have enough charge on to charge up at all.. so I charged it up as normal when I got home and it all works.. Haha feel a bit of a Muppet as i need to eat my own words n take back what i said about the barrage..
  11. your right, but I don't see how I would have done something wrong, I mean I didn't know the RX isn't as waterproof as it makes out to be other wise I would have ballooned it up ages ago, I've practically only used it 3 times, drove it through puddles the first time I used it which I thought would be ok given the electrics are designed to be waterproof, drove it over wet grass, and the usual slow speed crawling over obstacles. all the while cleaning and drying after use. and it did still seem to work fine this morning before I took it out. I don't know.... I think I will keep this rig, but I do feel negative about it for now, after reading all the great reviews and watching youtube video reviews kinda got my hopes up when I brought it on the 5th this month, but just feel a little disappointed its broken this early on. but I will remain determined, try and stay positive, learn and upskill with my crawling hobby as I progress with this rig or any other future rigs
  12. the RX did get wet during my first run and last run, but all seemed to have still worked fine after that as I dried it all off and crawled around the living room with it, that was last week. then this morning before I set out to Cannock chase I done a driving/steering check in the living room (steering servo was lagging anyway) all seemed well, literally just when I got to the chase n started it up, it went dead. I will see what wheelspin say, I hope they don't think it has been misused or void the warranty because apart from a few outer cosmetic changes i've made, I have not tinkered with any of the stock electronics or misused it or accidently broke it. Seem like good value for money upgrades ill look into them if I have to buy my own replacements, thanks John if they can replace any of the parts under warranty that will be good but I will try the balloon method for next time, thanks Noj or alternatively I may have a refund and get something else, who knows I shall think about it and find out tomorrow. ill keep you posted
  13. I'm annoyed mine and my brothers barrage have both broken down, only took them out twice since we had them. not been bashed or crashed, batteries charged properly. driven nicely, got them dirty n cleaned them up as normally would. went to Cannock chase today, my brothers worked well for 10 mins n then his wouldn't steer. With mine, I done the normal start up procedure moved half a foot n nothing dead. my brothers steering servo has konked out, and mine, I don't know, its steering servo has konked out too and maybe the receiver has fried. Don't know why. taking it back to wheelspin models tomorrow, hopefully to change the thing. Been under 28days n warranty should still be valid. I might change and get an ftx outback.
  14. ahh ok cool, the ecx barrage doesn't have that many upgrade parts for its self does it. it's good that the ftx outback is a very similar spec so that you can get those parts for it to tune it up ill look to upgrade mine in future maybe. at the moment I'm still contemplating what colour to have my outback shell, I've cut and shaped it to fit my barrage quite nicely n drilled all holes for my roof rack and body posts. for the end result its going to look bit of a cross, like if a D90 mounted a jeep wrangler n produced something that will hopefully look ok hehe.
  15. some reason I cant upload any more pics, but basically it went from the ground up, round and then on top of the shed, where I done a u turn and came back down, was fun while it lasted then the wood had to go to the tip.
  16. I like the mesh grill, much better than the sticker grill it came with. yeah the light bar looks cool, hope it doesn't take a bashing if you roll the thing I'm still waiting for my side bars to arrive, they are on back order. ill post some pics of my progress this weekend, I've had my clear ftx outback body come, and i've shaped it and it fits nicely, I may have to widen the width of wheels n axels abit? any suggestions of what I could use? I built a temporary ramp for my barrage last weekend. I had an idea when there was a big pile of scrap wood from an old fence gate in the garden
  17. thanks everyone for the info the nationals do sounds good, I don't think my barrage would qualify after skim reading the classifications and rules, but not to worry, even if I don't participate be cool to go and spectate and matlock is a lovely part of the country, all the more reason to go hehe lickey hills is about an hour away from me, would be good to see if I can meet up with them or go and find some trails myself, good day out anyone been there with your crawlers?
  18. ahh ok, doesn't sound like it lasts that long then, mine has held out for its maiden voyage about Sutton park but now it doesn't seem to have enough power to even dry steer and turn it whilst crawling slowly, may have to have an upgrade very soon. yeah I agree there, shouldn't throw a lot of money into however as I've just started out I've found it a bit to easy to splash out, felt like a kid in a sweet shop and been like, oooo I could get this part for it, ooo I could get that scale detail for it, hehe I'm a newbie after all, I don't have shelves of spares off old rigs lying around like some of the pros I've seen. I had a problem with the front axel or hub pins the other day, the screws that hold them in came loose and they slipped out and just jammed it moving anywhere, so I took it apart and put the pins back in, when I put it back together I then found one of my little bearing cases had fell apart, so I've ordered replacement bearings. I've also ordered motor cleaner, it got dirty when I took it out, it has been cleaned since, I let it whizz in a cup of water for a while and kept changing the water until it remained clear. how is everyone? having a good weekend?
  19. Thanks and sounds good , I wouldn't mind joining a club if possible, my brother and I started out crawling the same time, be cool to join in with peeps i'm based around walsall lol Cannock chase would have been my first idea to go crawling too I've been Sutton park recently got to test my ECX barrage out on its maiden run, it was good to be honest, good first truck. what crawlers do you have? how come yours aren't up and running? whens this scale nationals on do you know Gaz? can it be easily fount if i googled it?
  20. thanks both for the advice , I may have to return the shell and swap it for a clear one, I do fancy a pale matte grey with black scale details, not 100 yet but we shall see. how are your Crawlers coming along? what other modifications have peeps done? I read that the steering servo can be a bit sketchy.
  21. hey I'm new to crawling just getting started by customising an ECX Barrage. any ideas on good places to do some crawling? around the west midlands preferably is there any up coming crawling events? anyone fancy meeting up at some point start a convoy of crawlers? like I said I'm new to the hobby, I'm enthusiastic about getting properly into it and be good to share ideas and talk to other crawling hobbyists.
  22. those ones look cool, would look good on your ford outback and if I change my mind on the ones I got I will probs get them, do you think you will have to make any alterations to the chassis? I ordered these ones from modelsport (see below) rc4wd armor for the axial scx10 I would have to cut a little off the edges as they sit close to the tyres and drill a few separate holes on them to fit the chassis, but I think I can get away without making alterations to the chassis, they would also add a little weight too which could either be a good or bad thing as its a light truck but would maybe make it grip more.. ill probs work on it over the weekend and ill post pics when I'm done. the ftx lr body I got was a precut and pre painted one, am I able to paint on a pre painted body? is it wise? or should I have got a clear one haha
  23. Hey I'm new to crawling and new to forum, for my first crawler I was initially torn between the FTX outback with the LR body and the ECX Barrage, after much research in reviews and watching people with what they did with theirs, I came to a conclusion and got my self a Barrage although they are very similar in the spec' I wanted a crawler with the battery on the front and saves time getting the outback and swapping it all around. I took it out for a test drive and I was impressed to be honest. I have actually made the best of both the ftx and barrage, I got my self a ftx outback LR body to stick on, I preferred that to the barrage body, it fits well I just had to adjust the bumpers as the body is longer than the barrage and new body posts too pics will follow once I've worked on it a little. I'm trying to find some sliders/ or nerf bars to fit the chassis, I did get some in, they would look good on it but I would have to adjust them to get them to fit the chassis. or return them and get some different ones any ideas?
