  1. Hi So my last post (ex roll cadge) wasn't popular hence why I have just left it to die but the S-MAXX is now back together and was started up for the first time today (only for about 2 mins just to prove it would start up after a full strip down the first I have ever done). When it was being turned over by the easy start I did notice a bit of fuel or oil spraying up from towards the bottom of the engine it was very little splashes and hardly noticeable but non the less this clearly means I have a leek on the engine (i know it isn't the fuel because the night before I started it up I just turned the engine over and saw the little splashes and at this point the take was 100% clean and dry and so was the fuel lines the only thing in the engine was ARO so it was the ARO that was coming out. Is there any problems or precautions I need to be aware of if I take engine off the car and run it on its on so that I can find the leek. I am hoping I don't have to do this but just in case I want to know how to do it correctly. Also another issue which I am sure is just a case of its needs turning (I have just fitted a brand new carb as the HSN managed to come lose and damage the thread on the old one). When the car was started it was idling at a very high RPM despite the carb already being less than 1mm closed at idle it wasn't enough to make the car move but the RPM was just below the clutch engagement point. Could this be related to that really tiny almost unnoticeable air leek I have or is it just a matter of it needs tuning. Thanks UPDATE: 19/04/2018 23:20: I have just discovered that air is leaking pass the glow plug hole when I turn the EZ start over I can feel what is best described as a breeze of air blowing out of the glow plug hole. I have tried removing the glow plug and then turning the gasket the other way around incase it was on the wrong but this has made no improvement.
  2. does anyone know if the standard traxxas wheelie bar will fit by truck my rear end is all metal instead of the usual plastic (see picture). Also does anyone know the manufacture of the black bumper and the grey plate that slopes down with the 3 lines going down it. (sorry don't know there proper names) when I fit the wheelie bar I want to get new ones as you can see they are scratched up from wheelies. They came fitted on the truck when I got so got no idea where to buy them from.
  3. Just quick question is fairly liquid safe to use on the tyres/wheels to clean them I guess its the same as simply green the stuff that all the American racers/bashers use to clean there but just though I would make sure.
  4. Decided to keep the engine I striped it down and cleaned it out it wasn't even dirty anyway but since I accidently ran it about 4 times with out the air filter (never trust your parents with your RC cars) so I will be keeping it now. my Budget is £42 max for each servo so £84 all togeather want some really good ones you see and also that's how much the 2075 were. any suggestion of what I can get with that budget would be helpful. I would also like to get it from wheelspin models so if you can recommend one from there website that would be good it just saves a bit on shipping and not only that everything else I am getting £140 worth of stuff is coming from there and I am one of these people that like to get everything all at once and all from the same shop. *EDIT Also does anyone know what battery I should get for my CR4T Transmitter from Absima I am fed up of using rechargeable AA's and I understand you can get a proper battery pack for it. I am out away from any power source all day when I take the car out and I want full flexibility to be out from morning tell dark I got enough fuel, receiver hump packs and enough EZ start batteries to last 2 days but I can still only be out at the moment for a max of about 4 hours 8 rechargeable AA batteries are just not enough for this TX to be able to last all day.* EDIT
  5. so as I said im getting the Digital waterproof HT servo for both the throttle and steering from traxxas (2075) but after reading the reviews im not so sure. Can anyone recommend to be a good waterproof servos for the maxx thanks
  6. Really no one knows if that roll cadge will fit oh well lol. Anyway work has been put on hold for now only just got around to starting everything yesterday only to find out that some how the HSN had came lose (the gold nut) and now it wont tighten back up because the carb has gone and threated its self so new carb is now required although I am kind of tempted to get a 3.3 and put it in then sell the 2.5 alone with my old HPI nitro G 3.0. It would however explain all the cutting out and unstable RPM I had been getting last time I ran it will be sure to check it regularly from now on don't want to have to keep on replacing a £45 part all the time. Once I really start getting into things I will upload pics of the mods being installed.
  7. Hey, Not been around for a while and not been doing anything in relation to hobby due to moving in with the girlfriend but I am settled in now so its time to do some late winter mods. Will this roll cadge for the TMAXX fit my SMAXX (including the orignal body) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Integy-Model-Hop-ups-Traxxas-T-Maxx/dp/B00XSEIJHQ this the last mod I am doing now the rest of the mods in case any one is interested are: Digital waterproof HT servo for both the throttle and steering 4WD Reverse kit The work starts tomorrow with the car being stripped down and cleaned and WD40 put where needed. As well as seeing what parts need replacing (had to replace the glow plug wire 3 times already it keeps on fraying exposing the sliver wire and shorting out on the head). Glad to slowly be coming back and cant wait for the more warmer weather although I do hope to be able to get a few snow days maybe later today before the strip down tomorrow.
  8. I haven't as when I put the new plug in it screw in and I primed the engine and turned it over to see if fuel was leaking from the glow plug to make sure that is was indeed on connrectly and tight and please to say that it on tight and no fuel is leaking.
  9. Picture of Glow plug has now been added. Not taken it out yet or put it back to base settings so before I do I will look out or some replies
  10. Going to go back to factory settings and print that chart off thanks. Will upload the glow plug pic tomorrow I wouldn't know how to describe the glow plug so pic will be easier also being slight colour-blind doesn't help either when it comes to telling you colours
  11. "Update Starts: Glow plug pic finally added sorry real life relationship stuff got in the way The picture is not the greatest but baiscly the coil is black (burnt black) however it is still straight. I am starting to think this plug may of been a dud anyway as when I was putting into the head it only took half or quter of a turn and the plug would already be really tight. This is despite the fact that the plug is no where yet screwed all the way down. The plug I justed installed (new one) did not go tight after just one very small turn and did indeed go in with no problem at all. "Update Ends" I will be going alone WOT it will sound good and then suddenly go really lean (screaming sound) at idle it sounds fine but when I let off the trigger and it runs down to idle sometimes it will go to idle and sometimes you can hear it dropping below idle and wanting to cut out I can normally give a burst on the trigger to keep the car from cutting out (or cheat and turn on the throttle idle up on my TX before letting go of the throttle) if I am quick enough although most of the time I am not quick enough and it will cut out and then has to be left for 5 mins before I can restart it. That's another issue once it cuts out it will never just restart straight away it always has to be left for a good 5 mins. I increased the idle gap to try and sort the issue out but no matter how big the gap is this continues to happen, and of course once you get a certain point when adjusting the idle the car will just move as there is 2 big of gap so cant win atm .
  12. By Gasket I mean the little round gold seal that comes with every glow plug you get (except turbo plugs)
  13. will have a look in a bit once I take it out didn't want to take it out until I had a few replies To rich or to lean great with the cold weather we are having at the moment the leeway between to rich and to lean is very thin. I get the car tune just right then a min or 2 later it will either be screaming (suddenly gone lean) or blowing out loads of smoke (sudden rich mixture) Yet the Temps I Been getting are around 200 to 230F the highest I have seen in the pass 2 days is 240F. TRX 2.5 a lot harder to tune than the Nitro Star G3.0
  14. Hey, So just wondering what would cause me to be having to replace the glow plug on the car after every single run this week alone I got though three plugs and only have 6 left don't want to have to order anymore yet considering the 9 that I did have only just made it to the UK. The glow plugs on the Bullet lasted a good lire to half a litre of fuel sometimes even a whole litre. The S-MAXX though only goes about 2 hours before the glow plug just goes. Today I was driving going alone at half throttle and engine just cuts try a restart glow plug light did not light up on EZ start same with the other 2 times as well. I have also checked with the glow igniter from my bullet to make sure the EZ wasn't playing up as I have read they can and do give false glow plug readings and still nothing. Also can someone please tell me which way the gasket for the glow plug does in I got a feeling I been putting it in the wrong way and just want my mind put to rest. (I been putting it on flat side up raised side down if that makes sense) I found a picture ages ago which told you how to put it on but now cant find said picture. Thanks for de help
  15. funny how you brought up the trailer thing I was just the other day thinking about getting a trailer that would attach to my pedal bike in order to drag everything alone with me
  16. I'm doing the final fitment tonight of the sensors once I pop down to The Range and get some double sided sticky pads. I still need to know the rotation length for my wheels and tyres so please if any knows it or knows how to find do let me know.
  17. Ok I now them all test fitted in place going to have to get some 2 sided sticky pads to stick them to the chassis. I still need to know how I am going to secure the temp sensor into place at the moment I have it wedged in the small gap between the glow plug and the cylinder head but the wire is still resting on the head. Other than that there to more things I need to know then I will try and leave you all alone . Does any know the rotation length for Traxxas 3970 tyres on 3972x wheels. Also how do you secure the speed sensor it looks like it can be used for RPM as well but I want to use it for MPH so I'm attaching it to the front wheels but I need So that it stays in a dead straight line the car goes over so rough ground down and there are jumps at the park so that sensor is going to as stiff as possible to be able to stay in place.
  18. thanks for that video I had already seen it and did not help that must however thanks to clicking on it again I did find other video which shows how to hook up the sensor but it doesn't show where to put it. In the video the temperature sensor is used and I now that the sensor has to go to cylinder head but the wire looks so tin that I'm worried it going to just end up being burned by the head I know the glow wire survives fine but that wire is a lot thicker. So how would you go about attaching the temp sensor to the head with out having wires burn and how would you keep it in place? (zip ties maybe?) I had the throttle servo go on me yesterday and after spending 5 hours trying to fix it I gave up and am now using the throttle servo from my old HPI Bullet. The Bullet servo seems to work better than the Traxxas 2018 one the car had on as well which is good but since I got the RX box open at the moment and the shell off the truck I might as well give the sensors another go.
  19. Oh yes been in the game for a year now last car ended up going WOT into a tree and my new car isn't going to have the same fate I'm hoping it will last for years. I love the patience and trying to things out and going into the unknown with the hobby I also love the fixing and maintenance side of things as well. Hoping to get more involved soon with like minded people by taking it to the Herts Nitro Model Car Club.
  20. It was quit the oppersit after spending half an hour leaning and fimally relizing the problem was getting worst I decided to try and go rich and the richer I went the better it idled and the better it stayed running. Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
  21. So today it is running great temps are around 230F however the engine keeps shuting off mainly when I brake heavy (Testing out the ABS feature on the model) and then wont restart again untill I let it sit for a bit im gussing the fuel is just vapurising. My guess is LSN needs to be a bit more richer would I be correct in thinking that or is there somthing else. It idles fine as well so its not the idle. Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
  22. that's the part I am struggling with how do I plug them for example where on the engine do I attach the tempature to on the engine in order to get a reading and where do I attach the Volt sensor in order to get a reading it the first time I have had telemetry so I never seen the connections before which mans I cant just look at them and go oh that goes there lol. And how do you set the speed sensor up I have the optical one
  23. Hi, So I now the CRT4 and now that I used it for driving the car around I want to install the telemetry that comes with it in to my S-Maxx only problem is there is no instructions tell me how to set it and now installation videos on youtube either. So how do I set it all up. Thanks for the help
  24. just got back ran out of day light all good I think the temp gun may of been a little bit out a quarter of a turn on the HSN and also a adjust of the air filter so that it lined up with the air intake cut out of the shell and the smoke was gone it would return if I let the car idle for more than 2 or 3 minutes (which I expect since they were not made to idle for a long time and are air cooled) and then clean once I started moving again so it was defiantly related to over heating despite the temp reading I was getting. Thanks for all the help and advice again everyone really enjoyed the 3 hours I had down the park starting to feel as if I'm getting the hand of tuning now ever so slowly and also getting better at driving a 2WD now taking corners a lot more faster with out ending up on my side or upside down .
  25. Problem solved I took the fuel out the tank and the engine then put some ARO in the engine and fresh fuel in the tank and it fired first time. So old fuel was the issue by one I mean 2 days but oh well. Im out on the field at the moment and although the engine is tuned right good smoke good performance and will sit there and just idle for as long as I want it to. There is smoke coming from the head but not sure if it is over heating smoke or not temps at the glow plug are 210 to 230. The smoke is best decribe as what u would see from a ciggeriate very thin white wavey smoke coming directly from the glow plug area. Sent from my SM-J700F using Tapatalk
