  1. Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes the steering was working before but weirdly the wrong way around i.e turned transmitter wheel left and wheels went to the right. When I reversedthis using steeringswitch on the transmitter there seemed to be no steering at all. The receiver is integral with the esc and it has two channels , I have tried both in every way possible. Photo of esc/ receiver with ruler is from web.
  2. My son has an HG P401 crawler(pictured), When the crawler is turned on the esc flashes red and then when the transmitter is turned on the light goes solid red and the front wheels move slightly as if the servo has reacted to this connection. When the throttle trigger is pressed on transmitter the throttle works fine but when the steering wheel on the transmitter is turned nothing happens and the wheels don't turn or react at all. Any ideas. Thanks
  3. I am installing a servo to change my sons crawler from high to low gear. Basically the servo is fitted in line with a "switch" and moves that switch from left to right and visa versa. The setup is shown in the image attached. As can be seen the mini servo is on the right and the switch is on the left Ideally I want to buy one of those spring looking rods in image (can't find one) but would rather fit a adjustable steering link. My question is does a servo get damaged if it comes up short either way before it has reached the end of its own turn because the link is too long or short. Obviously I would try and get the adjustment of the link so that it was as accurate both way but there may be a case of the above because of the nature of the switch on the crawler .Thanks in advance
  4. I have bought a crawler jeep for my young son called a HG P402 pictured that comes with a 1500 mah 15c 7.4 v lipo battery included also pictured. Obviously 1500 mah wont last too long and I am looking for alternatives. I realise that lipo's are most probably the most efficient in terms of power and weight but I am concerned about my son charging them on his own and the possibility(however rare) of a fire. If I buy high mah nimh 7.2v batteries possibly 4000 mah would there be a noticeable decrease in power. I also realise that that the nimh batteries tend to steadily lose their power as they go whereas lipo's stay fairly well powered up to the end and then "give up". Efficiency ,weight and power leans towards lipo's but safety as above leans towards nimh'sAny advice ?Thanks
  5. Hi , I have posted recently about problems with my sons 12v radio control jeep not powering from a fully charged battery. Thanks for any replies to that, I think the electrics are probably shot. I wondered if it is possible to change all the electrics in it for a 2.4 ghz setup including a new esc. I have seen several well priced 2.4ghz controllers and receiver sets for sale but what esc would be suitable for using with a 12v 5ah lead acid battery? Are there any reasonably priced esc's that anyone can suggest that can handle this? Also the jeep has a high/low gear switch on the controller that puts the jeep into crawling or faster mode, are there any 2.4ghz controller setups that can handle this? It might seem a lot of effort to go to to do this but my son really likes this jeep and its pretty good at what it does. Any advice welcome. Thanks
  6. Thanks for your reply. I had another go this morning and am even more confused! I connected the the 12v 5ah lawn mower battery again (fully charged) and the jeep worked for a short while and then stopped. I then connected one of the batteries in question and again the jeep worked for a short while and then likewise stopped. Although I now cant get the jeep to work on any battery it seems that when a battery is swapped for another it works temporarily and then stops, very frustrating. By the way both the new batteries have the strength to turn over/start the lawn mower when connected to it and so the assumption is that there is a good charge in them. Any more suggestions welcome. Thanks
  7. Hello, my little boy has a Nylint 1/6 jeep that runs off a 12v battery as in attached image. We have two of these batteries (5ah) bought new a couple of days ago and were told by the seller that they have a good charge in them. When we connect one or the other to the jeep there is no power from either one but when our small lawnmower 12v (also 5 ah) battery is connected the jeep powers up.Can anyone give us an idea why these two 12v batteries don't power the jeep in any way even with a charge in them but our lawnmower one does. I have tested the two new batteries with a 12v light and they both power the light very brightly.Any advice would be appreciated. ThanksPS the connectors are all fine they are Tamiya type connectors
