  1. Can you give me a link to an alloy steering servo arm? I want to make sure i pick the right one for the 002b model. I nearly have my Yama sold so ill order one up soon i think
  2. probably gonna sell it once i fix the pull start and install aluminium steering servo arm. Nothing worse than trying to live with a bad purchase. So this is how Porsche Boxster owners must feel every morning when they wake up!
  3. If i can sell my Yama soon for close to what i want ill order a 002b up ASAP! do the KM baja's come with and aluminium steering servo arm or plastic? Is
  4. If only i had a time machine i would travel back and join here before i buy the Yama! Hehe sorry, i didnt mean any disrespect or that, i was not aware you were on the site! I just dont want the hassle i have had with Nitrotek jokers. So only tyres, exhaust and roll cage differences, is one better setup compared to the other? Or just different options? I see Nylon vs steel roll cage but note sure of the differences between the exhaust of tyre options What extra's would that have over the A or B? Thanks guys
  5. Ok once i replace the steering servo arm and pull start ill see can i sell my Yama buggy. And get something thats a better base model to upgrade from So Its seems like the KM Baja 5b is a good option? I see two models, the 002A and 002B, I'm not up to date enough yet with my petrol RC knowledge to know what is the better model to go for. they both cost
  6. Thanks for the info so both of those links are for manifolds, depending on which exhaust pipe i go for. Any idea what exhaust pipe i can get to fit and mount reasonably?
  7. Thanks for the info guys. In regards to the kill switch, I have been told there is a 2ch version of the jolly roger kill switch. Is this the best option?
  8. thanks for the link but it seems like they are no longer available, ill try and source the parts separately to make one up maybe. So the assholes at Nitrotek said that the pull start never breaks due to manufacturer fault( if though its all crappy plastic inside) so its not covered under warranty. I did a magyver on the damaged one anyway and got it fixed. Its not ideal and has a bit of slack on the cord but at least it starts. Had a mess around with it yesterday between rain showers and its seems good, except at one point it went a bit crazy and went throttle into the kerb! Also the steering servo arm is already broken due to it being plastic of course so i did a quick fix on that until the new aluminium one turns up. I think i may get this working right and sell it and maybe just go for the KM Baja one instead! I dont think its worth the stress!
  9. ive been looking all night and cant see any decent links to where i can buy the parts to make the exhausts work
  10. Yeah im only seeing that now as you suggested it! So for similar money what are other options out there for a similar kind of buggy? I guess i just listened to the wrong guy in work and didnt review them enough
  11. I wsa told i might get some better answers from you petrol heads in this section! So like a kid on Christmas morning(33 year old man-child!) My Yama RC petrol buggy arrived from Nitrotek, I had no idea these 1/5 scale cars were so big. Off i went to the petrol station to buy a petrol can of unleaded and some two stroke oil. I purchased one on the recommendation of one of my colleagues in work, just for something to mess around in the end green area's near work and local park at home. I now realise there is better cars out there but sure thats how it always is, i just want something thats godd fun to mess around with and parts can easily and cheaply be replaced if something breaks. I could have went for one of the Baja models, and maybe i will if i really enjoy this as a hobby and i use it on a regular basis. I filled it up eith the petrol and oil mix, primed it, opened the choke and was ready to start it up. I gave it a good tug it was about 50% out and "pop" a piece of white plastic hits me in the face and the cord whips me on the nose and i nearly punch myself in the face. So i have sent an email to nitrotek asking for a replacement part. It should not break so easily. Anyway thats enough complaining, i need to make the best of what i got. How are the tyres that came on this, what surfaces do the work well on and which should i avoid? Any recommended ones i can upgrade too when needed Anyone know of a DIY or upgrade exhuast i can use to replace the puiny rubber pipe? Any airfilter upgrades you can go for? How would the waterproofing of the electrics be on this model? Any other modifications i can make to the car to make it faster and handle better than stock? Is there a built in safety cutoff, if it goes out of range or something i can install to make it more reliable in this aspect? Pic of my beautiful paper weight:
  12. Yep pretty much, my boss was beside me when it happened and he nearly got the elbow to the head as he was kneeling beside me!
  13. Thanks guys, ill open another thread for more specific info in the petrol section. i know there is more expensive more more reliable, well built options, it all depends on how much you are willing to spend i suppose! The more money i spend on these RC cars, the less money i get to spend on my Subaru, so it has to be a fine balance!
  14. ive just picked one of these up myself. It arrived this morning, took it out at lunch time for its maiden voyage and the motor starter broke and i nearly punched myself in the face! Great start to Yama ownership!
  15. I wish i found this site before i ordered my RC car. I received delivery of a Yama RC 26cc buggy today from Nitrotek. Took it out at lunch time for its first run. primed it etc, pulled the motor starter half way and the thing snaps and bits of plastic hit me in the face! AWESOME! Now im stuck with a a big paper wait until the send me a replacement start handle. Anyone know if its a widespread issue with these models. i know realise they are at the budget end of 1/5 scale petrol RC cars, i was just going off the advice off a co-worker that has one. I opened a support ticket with Nitrotek and hopefully they send me out a replacement starter asap so i can start breaking other parts on it! Pictures of offending part: So i guess i'll just be looking at it now until i get it repaired Is there any parts i should replace, add to this to get the most from it, ill probably mainly use it on grass and tarmac and dirt paths. If it goes out of range does it cut the throttle or is there an extra kill switch or something i need to install? Im looking forward to learning a lot on this forum! Dan
