Thanks for all the fab advice guys. I was originally wanting to go for a matt black look but obviously spraying the inside will always give it the gloss look on the outside. I did all the prep as suggested other then I had already cut the shell so just had to mask up again which wasn't the end of the world. It sprayed up better then I was expecting and although I didn't need to touch it, it dried super fast so I could handle the shell ok. thanks dazp for that super information which is definitely going to be printed out lol. The losi that the esc came from is currently running a Turnigy 60a esc with a carisma 5700kv motor so is it worth putting the leopard in the losi and the carisma in the 1/18 and then run it on the 2s? The losi is only running 2s as 3s is just to much and it just spins and spins

any idea on how to adjust that on the losi esc

Hi guys, Just recently built a little 1/18 brushless system with a few bits I had knocking about. Im running a Leopard 6600kv on 3s with a losi MSC18blhp esc which is of my losi mini8. It seems to run fine until you give it full acceleration then it cuts out and judders. I'm sure this is to do with thermal cut off or something and if so is the esc not good enough for the motor or is it a pinion prob or what! As you can imagine temps was quite high. If it is esc any hints on what best for the leopard?

so then a little update from yesterday because as soon as i posted this I had a little look at what was in my bits and bobs and other then a servo I was good to go for a brushless system. Picked a new servo up to day and got stripping and fitting. Had to dig out the 2s and charge up so will go for a drive tomorrow.

sorry not a great help here but just wanted to ask how you getting on with the v2? I have the original Flux onslaught with a few mods and its an animal on 3s!!! I managed to bend the chassis plate once so picked up another but then ending up bolting the two together and putting them both in with longer screws and its now as tough as you like! Haven't got all the internals coved up like yours though?

Hi guys hope all is well. Got a bit of a story to go with this one so stick wiv me. About 3 xmas ago I decided to ask for a rc as part of a secret Santa thing we do with the in-laws and the budget is always about £50. So I found myself looking at this one. a WL toys a959 about £45 all in. Now I had no exsperiance with the RC world at all so it was a typical out of the box thing. Well to say that I was pleased is an understatement as it went like crazy and seemed to handle reasonably well as well as taking a bit of a bashing. I think it comes with a 2s lipo as standard? From there I got the RC bug and now 3ish years down the line I have a upgraded Losi mini 8, BSD racing flux onslaught with a few mods running 3s and a nitro thunder tiger EB4 S2.5 pro. Any ways the a959 has always been an on going little project as I didn't realise at the time how many hopups you can get for this little beast and all though most of the mods are from china every now and then I would add a bit more. The main reason is I love 1/18 scale and all though very fiddly I love spending time tinkering with the tiny parts, nuts and bolts. so this is how it looks now. DSC_0008 by b[]x photography, on Flickr Now then the part im getting to is I decided to have a go at running it on a 3s and OMG it is awesome albeit yes I have stripped a spur gear and a pinion and most of the internals but they are now up to spec to handle the 3s. Its still running on the standard motor and ESC with a built in receiver and its on its second stock servo. The transmitter binds with the receiver fine to allow me to go back and forward but the servo is dead? Im not sure if somehow the 3s is frying something in the stock esc which is affecting the servo as it happen'd once before and I changed the servo and it turned out to be the esc? Right so what to do......... I have a spare leopard 4 pole brushless motor which I got for the losi, so do I do a whole new set up on the 959 with new ESC servo receiver the lot. My only advice is that this is my toy and I want to keep the cost down as Id rather put the money into the other RC but dont want this one to sit on the shelf. Any advice on cheap esc/servo setup. So you could spray the outside? Is it not worth just spraying the whole shell then inside and out?

lol see this is why i ask the shell is poly although it does seem a bit flimsier then the stock shell but hay ho. What sort of paint am I after or is it a google job

Hi guy's Been out of it for a while but now the days are getting warmer and longer the rc bug is back. decided to treat my self to a new shell to paint ect but wanted a bit of advice before I started. Firstly is what is the best way to cut the plastic molding? I can see the outline that needs cutting I.e arches ect and its the same shell as previously on my rc albeit clear so I know the shape I need but what is the best thing to cut it with to get a nice edge. Second is paint? Any advice on primer top coat ect. Was going to have a trip to halfords as my local rc shop has closed down. I got some stickers with it so that's all good, was thinking of a matt black finish? any help or advice would be great. Thanks guys

think I have sorted it!! I slid the hex nut off and placed it within the pull start. took a few goes but finally it 'clicked' in and so far so good. Don't know y but still have a feeling its not going to last? Will have to get the other bits off him and see how we go. Might have to learn a bit about nitro, set up ect. Im an electric man so..........

Hi guys Unfortunately I have limited knowledge on nitro but a friend ask If I could replace the pull start on his thunder tiger as he has less knowledge then me lol. I ordered a new pro pulley and the cord retracts fine until I fix it onto the motor when it then wont retract? The cord then wont retract until I completely slide it off the hex nut fixed onto the motor. Is there something wrong with the motor as it seems to me that the hex nut is being jammed by something? please help lol

Sounds like a plan. I haven't gauged the temp properly but im running a turnigy esc and a 16t pinion on 2s and temps seemed good. (3s is not good lol) Had to remove the fan to squeeze the esc in but made a few air flow mods to the shell and all is good.

Hi guys Just abit of advice needed. A few months ago I ordered a new leopard 4pole 6600kv for the losi but they didn't have the one i wanted so refunded my money and advised me on a carisma 5700kv which i paid for and it turned up and went in to the losi all runs fine and happy days. Then just the other week the leopard turned up? Completely out of the blue! So do i keep the carisma in and either keep the leopard as a spare/sell or swap them round. Thanks

grrrrrrrrrrrr finally got the losi back together with new 60a Turnigy esc and Carisma 5700kv stuck a 3s li-po in and bang stripped the bloddy spur gear!!!!! Any advice on upgrade!!! Linky would be wicked and maybe next time I will check the pinion position before racing up the road lol!!!
