  1. I've got the BRCA control tyres on, Sorex 32Y, and the ground clearence is 5-front and 5.2 rear.
  2. Well steering was loads better so that's good. I had a lot of fun and definitely improved my driving and lap times. Back end still slides out onto easily on corners, I turn in and then it's so easy to spin out, I put stiffer springs on the front which seemed to help a little but not as much as I'd have liked. I sheared one of the front cvds clean off, luckily I have the spare updated ones that came in the kit but I wanted to buy a spare set and no where seems to have any in stock.
  3. Still not raced it, I did discover the steering was going tighter one way than the other so spent a while sorting that. Going down to the track tomorrow to try it all out and see how it works so I'll let you know
  4. I guessed practice, tyres and setup would be up there, but I'd have guessed radio would be pretty much the bottom. How does radio have such a big impact, I figured aside from fancy features like model memory and physical build quality they all did the same thing equally well.
  5. I already got my kit for racing in the 13.5 boosted class, fairly casually I might add! I was wondering what people thought about where to spend money to get the best return on it. With all the things you need that that have a direct impact on your speed, where do you think spending more money gets you the most improvement in laptimes? E.G. I'd guess a good set of tyres is going to be about the best
  6. I got a H4e from Hobao recently and a friend got a 3Racing Sukura sport XI, so we are set for the time being. Both are slightly unusual brands though so we have noticed the parts/options aren't so easy to come by.
  7. Curious what the general consensus is on which competitive TC has the most available and low cost UK spares?
  8. I got a Dex210 from Ebay with loads of spares and wheels for
  9. Hey Hipwell, if you have that setup it'd be appreciated. Did a good few laps before the positive wire tore of the ESC Back end is much better with the changes I've made but its still quite twitchy and unstable on the straight, I've got +2 front toe in, done some research since I got back and maybe I should be doing 1/2 toe out instead? Its tarmac outdoor track thats fairly large with a long straight.
  10. Not raced it, I did make it to the track for some practice. Had a few crashes but I found it very unsettled on the straights and with a very loose back end. I think a lot of it was a combination of using old (10+yr) radio gear and servo which was getting interference from somewhere and having not set the car up properly. Now got a new set of Spekrum radio gear, a new metal geared servo and a car setup gauge so I've set the camber and so on properly (it was wildly out before!). Hoping to get down on Thursday this week for another practice and see how that improves it I was quite impressed with the fact nothing broke, after reading the comments on here and using the first gen plastic parts I had a few pretty harsh smashes and the only casualty was a very old servo that had the gear shattered,
  11. Thanks for the advice, so if I went for: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__23361__Turnigy_TrackStar_10_5T_Sensored_Brushless_Motor_3250KV.html and http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__22402__Turnigy_Trackstar_120A_Turbo_Sensored_Brushless_1_12th_1_10th_ESC.html Would that be a decent low cost setup to get me going?
  12. Hi all, getting involved with my local RC club who have an offroad track and was looking for some advice on a ESC/motor combo. I spoke the some guys there who said the quickest guys run 7/8.5 turn motors and recommended I start with a 13.5/10.5. I already have a 13.5 SkyRC motor in my touring car that I use in 13.5 boosted along with a skyRC ESC I got in a package. Anyone got any recommendations for a ESC/motor combo for the buggy? I've got a second hand Dex210 on the way from ebay I kinda like the idea of getting a 13.5 so I can swap it into the touring car if I ever want/need to, but I don't want to get something thats going to be way behind the pace. I also quite like the idea of getting waterproof if I can. The track is astro outdoor.
  13. Ahh so thats what that bit is, I found the spool part when I was doing the rear and couldn't see how the bearings went either side with the thicker metal, never considered it went on the front! Thats a fairly easy switch though. When you say grease the drive shaft joints, do you mean the part that goes into the wheel with the joints to allow suspension/stearing movement? Its been a long time since I did any of this so I'm pretty much clueless Been trying to work out a gear ratio and so on as well, the track is fairly big and one the chaps there suggested to run around 4.0, with an 84T spur that the kit comes with thats quite hard. Currently I have it set to 78/30 using an old spur from the HPI pro I had a decade ago giving an FDR of 4.94 is there a particular set of gears you'd suggest starting with?
  14. Thanks for the advice, its all built now using those bladders I wasn't sure which bits were new-parts and which bits were old-parts in the box, so I've no idea which i'm using!
  15. I just bought one of these for
