  1. found a gpm 64t steel spur gear and alloy adapter at aisia tees online site and its cheaper than the stock 68t, plus ordered an alloy front clip and top brace and a 14&15 t motor pinion ,a couple of bits for my losi 5T and got a free shirt and free p&p from the states / arrived in 6 days how goods that and no import tax
  2. well starting to wish i had never seen this thing now, watch out for the drive cup below the spur gear cover eating it's way through the case and catching on the spur and breaking the teeth off which in turn wrecks the motor pinion, quite why this has happend is beyond me, i was just running up and down the street to check out the new servo and steering mods , parts not cheap twenty eight quid plus p&p " this thing will have to go " as there does not seem to be the option to fit a smaller spur gear as one is not listed, i can see this happening again . has anybody else encountered this problem ? I would not recommend any body not to even contemplate buying this product from axial with all these problems plus the fact the diffs need to be shimmed before you can run 6s and other reports of diff gears failing and at
  3. have now fitted a more powerful servo it;s a bluebird rated at 31kg from the the hobbyking uk site
  4. hope to get some pics uploaded soon but my smart phone's broken at present, i have ordered some metal push rods to replace the bendy steering one ,i have also made some other mods to get more lock on the steering , fitted a servo horn from a traxxas summit ,this allows more servo travel without fowling on the case but you have to cut away part of the top cover where the rod runs through, it turns tight now this is how it should have worked off the shelf , still aim to fit the hot racing servo saver assembly ,when funds allow i've just spent a fortune on my losi 5T if keep on spending i will have to sleep with one eye open or the wife may kill me ,where will it all end
  5. yea i think 4s is plenty, i took it down the local park and the air this thing was getting off the skateboard ramps was unreal 15 to 20 ft with some heavy nose first landings , beware if you wack the brake on when airbourn it will cartwheel end over end ,i had this happen when going full chat over a small yump it must of went over ten times or more and just bent the number plate" lucky or what"
  6. i put a big thick washer under the spring that seems to work for now the steering is 100% better than stock , i'l be looking to get the hot racing set up later, i already have their twin servo upgrade on my 5T and it's a quality bit of kit , did you fit the power hd servo to the kit i'm well impressed with it at that price and what cells are you running , i have two 3s packs but cant be bothered to shim the diffs at present , they seem to have forgot to mention that you will have to strip it down and fit these if you want to run 6s , does not say anything in axial's promo hype for the rtr "i wonder why not"
  7. what motor and esc are you going to run in yours , check out hot racing's upgrades for the xl they do a nice adjustable servo saver etc
  8. you can indeed and your not wrong what a game it is stripping it out and reassembling , but we now have steering " hooo yaaar " the car now has a decent rate of turn and i no longer have to do a three point turn get it round in the width of the road , why couldn't axial make this work , all it takes is a half decent servo and a couple of washers .
  9. yes this does seem to be the week point not sure how to sort this as as it looks to be bolted in place through the top cover plate then into a plastic thread ,i think if you try and tighten it down any more it will strip the threads, aaaah yup that's what it did, now i need a longer bolt and mod the bottom to hold a captive nut , this is so poorly designed
  10. well body panel arrived at last , word has it 50 rtr kits have been shipped to the uk with the near side panel missing , any way all charged up ready to rumble ,god this thing is quick even on 4s moving the rear shocks back has helped with the torque twist a certain amount and dialing down the throttle punch has made it more user friendly but the steering is still poor its better than it was but i'm going to have to look at the servo saver now cuz the power hd 20kg servo has plenty of power and you can see it's working ok but it's the servo saver that cant handle the weight and size of the car , got mega run times from the nano tech 7600 mah cells 55mins much better than i expected from such a brutal power system , back on charge time to go and get it jumping.
  11. the standard servo is the same as fitted to the 1/10 yeti , small wonder it's so under powered for a truck this size , i have not had time to check out the servo saver etc but it makes you wonder if any thing else came from the 1/10 parts bin , if you want to upgrade to the 17mm hex kit this means buying wheels also, not a cheap mod, these should have been a standard fitment on the rtr
  12. yes at that price the devil made me buy one , i was going to drop in a savox sw 1210 (
  13. yes i replaced it with a hd power 20 kg servo from model sport i also fitted an alloy servo horn which i had lying around. and yes the standard servo is well under powered and the servo arm and push rod are made of putty ( i kid you not ) to be honest a car this size could have done with an 1/5 scale servo or a duel set up ( the standard servo 151 ounce = 4.8 kgs that's crap )
  14. i have not been able to get out and give it a good run to see but i recon around 40 min plus, i run the same cells in my summit and i run duel brushed 700 motors with a 65 tooth spur and 17 motor pinions and it's very quick, if you mix your driving say 50% crawlin 50% raggin the wheels off it 45 mins to an hour also on the axial the battery box will take a longer pack but not width or depth as that's right on the limit , i will have look at what cells above 8000 mah fit, any way if the body panel turns up that axial owe me i will give it a run at the weekend , i want to see if the steering upgrades and suspension adjustments have made a difference
  15. yes that's the one for me, and i i bet it won't break the first time you use it,lol
  16. yes it will sort of clip into position but you have to extend the rear shocks fully to get it up but if you put any weight on the rear shocks it comes down ( a right o'll finger trap) , trust me i found out the painful way, but as i posted earlier if you move the shocks back to the second position it will only lift half way ( not impressed )
  17. yes they look like something you would find on a 1/10 scale, oh also i've found another problem if you move the rear shocks to the rear mount position you can not hinge the body back far enough for it to lock in i suppose i will have to use a stick to prop it up now , lol
  18. it's the rtr, and your bang on, at the price it's very poor value in quality terms, axial should take a look at the traxxas summit as the build quality and design i feel are exellent and is let down only buy it's motor, i run a twin 700 brushed set up from kershaw designs in mine but i planned to upgrade before buying it . i would have gone for the yeti xl kit had i known it was going to be an option as this has a rear sway bar included and proper 1/8 wheel hubs and not the mickey mouse ones that are fitted to the ready to run version ( check out the pics on model sports add for it ),
  19. well, carbon shock tower fitted ok and looks the part, went on with the only issue being you need to find 2 m3 nyloc nuts to secure the shocks as the original mounts had internal threads and nyloc's don't come with the carbon tower, also replaced the radio with a spectrum 410 receiver and dx4s trany , and fitted a stronger steering servo ( hd power 20kg ), you will also need to up grade the servo horn to an alloy part and the control arm to the servo saver needs a much more ridged item ( the stock parts are so poor in quality any extra torque just twist's the lot out of shape ) like i said before these quality problems should be sorted out at the development stage, god does any body at axial ever drive there own stuff , it may come with an manic power system but you still need to turn the car ,sorry about the rant but it does p*** you off
  20. will iron out the weak points first off, the carbon shock tower has now arrived from xtreme racing USA, nice 5mm thick looks very sturdy and should look good hope to get this fitted at weekend along with new beefed up steering servo and radio gear
  21. yes some alloy parts would be nice, will have to see what comes out for it over here ,plus i'm building up a 5T roller and most of my money is being eaten up by that at the moment , but the yeti will get fully upgraded but i don't want it to get to heavy, some more carbon would be nice. should have a spectrum 4s arrive this weekend, so will be changing the radio gear this will give the option for lights and a winch later.is there any body doing any thing to improve their xl it would be nice to here what else is being done, the power system i don't think can be bettered
  22. will up load some pics when i get the new carbon shock tower and 20 kg steering servo its a power HD from model sport i have heard good things about these and at
  23. well after two months waiting my yeti xl has at last arrived, got it home and unboxed it only to find that it had been sent out with the complete near side body panel missing plus all the retaining screws , how this got sent out is beyond me ,phoned dealer who was as shocked as me, axial rep to be contacted asap , so far i'm not impressed , this aside it is a nice looking truck with nice detailing the lift up body is a pain as it does not lock up and has a habit of falling down all the time also the battery compartments are a pain to close the pins are very difficult to get in ,but it will take nanotech 7600 mah 2s packs , well i ran it on 4s to get a feel for it, omg what a beast this is , the castle mamba set up is wicked fast so fast in fact that i think 6s would be impossible to control , 4s twisted the thing so much most of the time it carries the offside front wheel 4 inches off the ground and torque steers and will back flip when it finds enough grip and that caused an end to the first test as it flipped over and hit a curb, not a hard impact but enough to shatter the front shock tower, on inspection this does seem to be more holes than material, a stronger meatier item is needed ,looked to get a replacement stock part these are on back order , so found a carbon aftermarket part in the states looks very nice
  24. well i hope axial take more care when putting the parts in the boxes ,just picked up my xl rtr after a two month wait only to get it home and un box it to find the near side body panel was missing , how can quality control miss this ? one very annoyed customer , but what beast of a car even on 4s it must be impossible to drive on 6s , down side batt lockers are far to hard to close and front shock tower not strong enough to take a good knock mime shattered after just 30 mins ( made to save weight ) ordered a carbon one from the states as standard parts are on back order in uk any way its better to upgrade now than have this happen again ,so overall performance mega /handling crap needs a sway bar to sort out the torque twist and a 20kg servo for the steering / for a
