  1. Hey peeps

I managed to fix it...I used Clean flight  instead of baseflight for some reason it is now level. hmm weird.

anyways my first flight! i did a hover in the room and slow turns and yaw basic stuff etc.. (angle mode on) 15mins of flight, all good so far!

i was very afraid and full of joy at the same time when i saw that thing i built flew haha.

will take it out when the sun comes out! its very wet here in Glasgow.

thanks for the replies i really appreciate them.

  2. Hey guys!

I am almost finish with my quadcopter 250, the only thing i have a problem with is one of the motors which causes the quad to lean to the left (i think)

the config on baseflight is quad X, during the motor test, the motors 1,2 and 3 all start at the same time, however motor 4 starts to rotate a little later.

motor 1, 2 and 3 rotates at 1167 but motor 4 start to rotate at 1181.

i did a test holding the quadcopter to see if the motors responds when i tilt the quad to its axis... they do respond, however the quad is not level as if motor 3 & 4 have less power so its leaning to the left like this /

I calibrated the accelerometer, ESC's and played with the CG but no luck.

    any ideas?

    best regards.

  3. Hello friends! sorry to bother.

Ive been reading and purchasing parts for my first quadcopter since monday, i think i have ran into something and need assistance.

I purchased this transmitter with receiver http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00WUE6GWK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

and now comes to the flight control board. i cant seem to understand this...do i have to buy a flight control board that supports my transmitter and receiver?

i was looking at the NAZE 32 board, in the "features" it says supports standard receivers (PWM), PPM Sum receiver (FrSky, etc), SBUS, or Spektrum satellite receivers. I can't find anything in the transmitter's manual about PWM, PPM SUM or SBUS. However the transmitter specs shows "Output: PPM" is that the same as PPM SUM?

The only parts i need left is a lipo and the flight control board, but im stuck on this, so ill sleep on it.

    cheers!

  4. ok guys before i even thought about posting this i googled some and read the manual but still not giving me answers.

    so here it is.  :sweatdrop:

    this charger http://www.etronix-rc.com/rc-charging-equipment/rc-%20chargers/etronix-powerpal-80w-ac-dc-performance-charger-discharger

has a program "discharge>charge" cycle could also be switched the other way round.

it lets you choose how many cycles you want up to 1-5

so when you press start the whole process starts up. but how am i suppose to know what current and voltage its putting in? it doesnt give me the option to any values just 1-5 cycles.

    doing this on a nimh 7.2volts 6 cell 4700mah.

    cheers!  :banghead:

  5. thanks guys, very helpful information from everyone  :topbanana:

I just purchased the radio with receiver, it'll come in a few days and i am very excited as it is my first computerized transmitter.  :naughty:

I have no idea what im doing

  6. sorry to post another topic but i have been looking online for a FRSKY Taranis PLUS transmitter but they've all been sold out or back ordered.

giantshark have 24 of them in stock but the description says  "There is one item missing, the SWR check of the transmitter antenna is no longer available. "

    http://www.giantshark.co.uk/product/172253/frsky-taranis-plus-x9d-transmitter

    what is SWR?  :shockingscary:

in hobbysport, they're packcage is a little better it comes with receiver and aluminium case for just

  7. Hi ninja Maple and a late welcome to the quadcopter world

the only difference in truth. the parts used inside and the software code that

    is loaded into it.

lets take the cheaper ones you link, naze32 is a popular board with acro pilots.

this all started with a Chap called Warthox he to me is the godfather of acro quads.

and his video's had shown a quadcopter doing flips and barrel rolls, everyone

and i mean everyone wanted to fly like the Warthox.

at first we had controllers that came from a nintendo game system the Wii.

the numbchuck and little thumb controller had gyros and accelometer fitted inside.

and a arduino board could control them. quadcopters were born ( well the brains for them)

Not much has changed really since then, but small adjustments made.

the gps add on was the killer mode. having a quad that would come back home

or stay in one place without constant sticks management .

next came the FPV guys, and the teamblacksheep crew. stunning video footage that not many people get to

see as hobbyists was thrust into our sweaty palms, controller now gained a multitude of options.

    the

I;ve got a 2200mah nimh that came with the car which takes like 6 hours to charge so i can only pretty much do two 5mins runs everyday.

i will be buying another nimh battery when i buy a charger, but will eventually upgrade the car to lipo & brushless in the future.

  9. Check your wheel slop too,. the rear looked wonky on acceleration.

Likely you'll need some shims (small thin designated thickness washers) if not your wheels are really unbalanced.  Though could be axle slop.  Does she run on sealed ball bearings?

yyeah the bearings are sealed. i checked and its the wheel/tires that are not even in related to the centre of the wheel.

  10. I'm gonna go ahead and make the assumption you want to charge lipos.

The main thing to consider with a charger is it's watt rating.  just cos it says up to 6s does not mean it will meet your needs.

    It's a mathematical thing really.

    Volts x Amps = watts.

    • You ideally want to charge your packs at a 1C rating.
    • This is the amp rating of your pack.   eg: 2s lipo 5000mah

    eg: 2s 5000mah pack = 5a x 8.4 volts  (2x fully charged cells = 4.2 x 2)

    • The above eg: requires a charger than can output 5ax 8.4volts =  42Watts.  (you could say that 7.4 volts is the number here though)

this means a cheap 50watt charger that you plug into the wall can charge this pack in just over an hour with balancing,  it will take around 40-45 minutes from storage level ;)

But what if you have 2 packs with the above spec, a 50 watt charger can still charge em, but it will take nearly twice as long because it just don't have the grunt.

Most charge multiple packs in parallel which means for each identical pack you multiply the total number of packs by the 1c charge applicable to the pack.  eg 3 packs of 2s 5000mah charge in parrallel will require a 15a charge rate  to charge at 1c.  As above this means you need a charger that can,..

    • 2s pack = 8.4 volts
    • 3 packs at 2s 5000mah = 15A
    • The charger will need to have : 8.4Vx15A = 126watts output.

I mainly use 2200mah 2s packs at the moment.

I use this charger with this PSU

    Which stack together:

    35355c-SkyRc-SK-200017-02-eFuel-230W-Pow

An hour before going to the track I charge four 2s 2200mah (2200 divided by 1000 = 2.2A) packs in parallel at a 1c rating.   From storage level it takes less than 45 minutes to charge all 4 packs :)

    • This means I set my charger to 4packs x 2.2 amps = 8.8A
    • Because I am charging in parallel voltage stays the same.
    • So my charger must be capable of  8.4v x 8.8A = 74Watts  clearly I have head room.
    • THe PSU also is rated higher than the charger for head room ;) though mine is only just above the chargers max.

    Clear as mud? :shockingscary:

very helpful sir, thanks for writing this :)

also ill definitely add that charger to my "potential to buy"

  11. another day, another question.

so i was all over INTERNET researching about chargers, one thing i have noticed and confused about is:

do chargers need a power supply? can you just not plug the damn thing on the wall and charge away?

    i saw this guy http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__45114__IMAX_B6_AC_Charger_Discharger_1_6_Cells_GENUINE_with_UK_plug.html

i watch/read about it in the review videos but when i saw at the bottom of the sales page.

it says "Note: Power supply not included." huhhhhhHH?

i thought the standard uk wall plug included was the power source no?

I also saw this guy with a built-in power supply http://www.modelsport.co.uk/etronix-powerpal-ac-dc-balance-charger-discharger/rc-car-products/369852

  12. so yesterday i decided to take my new rc (FTX vantage) for a 5 min run, i didnt do any jumps or anything just coasting and fast by.

I was running it on damped grass and pavement + also a little light shower.

now when i got home while cleaning the car, i noticed this noise, like a metal rattling noise when i push the car forward and even louder going back.

I am absolutely new to this hobby and have no idea how the gearing system works etc...so i wouldnt know if theres something wrong but

i would like you guys to check it out anyway just to make sure.

when the radio and batt plugged in the car everything sounds normal to me but then i am a noob :)

    here it is anyways.

    heres with battery

can you tell me if this sounds normal.

    thanks

    [uPDATE]

opened up the car, removed some dirt from the gears and it all sounds fine now.

although i stripped a couple of screw holes even though i was extra careful with it :o

  13. is it possible to charge AA batteries on an rc bat charger?

im talking about the AA nimh rechargable batteries, i currently have a crappy 2x AA battery charger and it takes 10hrs to charge  2700mah! oh and my transmitter takes 8x AA batteries :(

just wanna know if its possible so i can invest on a good rc car charger instead of buying AA battery charger and an rc charger.

    thanks
