    what radio

I am looking for a Tx and Rx to go into an axial yeti. This has an option for two speeds so I would like 3 channels. I want to keep cost down if I can but at the same time I don't want rubbish http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Flysky-FS-GT3B-3-Channel-2-4GHz-Transmitter-for-Remote-Control-Car-Boat-/370811798574?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item56561b042e I did see this one from Flysky. Can anybody recommend this or are there better budget Tx's out there

    Screw sets

http://www.modelfixings.co.uk/machine_screws.htm modelfixings.co.uk are great if you need spares. Although they don't do sets
  3. you can get then for less if you search around. I have two and they have been faultless. One thing I did forget is they are often sold without an AC adaptor power supply and they cost about a fiver if bought separate but you can but them together so do check the description. the good thing is they will charge any battery type and will connect to the car battery so you can charge your model and tx when out and about
  4. I did not post a link for batteries as it depends on if you want 2s or 3s and what capacity you want there are a large selection http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__20998__ZIPPY_4000mAh_2S1P_25C_Car_Lipoly_ROAR_APPROVED_.html these are fine if your budget is tight but there are higher capacities available for a little extra http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__933__300__Cars_Parts-Batteries.html

    Rock Racers

That was sort of my point they are a hybrid and not a true crawler. That is why I thought they may merit their own section. It was just a thought

    Rock Racers

Do we need a new section on the forum for rock racers?
  7. thank you all for the advice but I have ignored you all sorry. I now have the yeti kit on pre order. I did do some research first I hope it works out to be a good choice

  9. I have never (touch wood) had one go wrong when charging. They don't go wrong a lot but it if ever did it gets very hot catches fire and gives of toxic fumes. If that ever did happen to you, you will be glad it was in the box and not on the bedroom floor.

    My Armour

I like the Sherman driver no negative waves man
  11. ammo boxes and a metal table? be carful not to short things out I have been using lipos for years in my planes and have been pretty good. But it is always better to be safe than sorry I charge mine on the concrete floor of my garage others use a heat proof tile.
  12. I am almost sold on the slash but then I saw another rock racer that looks better. Axial yeti I am going to hold out just a little longer just to see what my sons model is capable of and what sort of ground is available for us to use. I like the mechanical tinkering just as much as driving it so the slash would be better for that due to the number of after market parts available.
  13. I got my son a himoto spatha 1/10 sc truck for Christmas. Now I wan something better for myself the two models above have caught my eye and I know they are very different models I wish I could get both. It is just for bashing on grass and the beach and anywhere I can find. if I get the slash I planed on slightly larger wheels and a bug body any advice please?
  14. http://www.asiatees.com/display?Himoto-Spatha-Parts-Hop-Ups-Upgrades&brand=Himoto&model=Spatha&id=85145&pid=1 a little less expensive here
  15. one was from hitting curbs and one broke when it got stuck under a fence. the bumper does have some spring action built in.
  16. http://www.rchobbyspares.com/31601_E10-MTXT_Front_Bumper_2P__-_Original_Spare_Parts/p1591865_8482103.aspx the bumper and brace come as one part. Part No. 31601 but screws are not included so you will need to find some M3 screws about 10mm long
  17. here are some photos of mine with bumpers now at each end. I hope this shows the detail you need
  18. sorry having problems uploading photos. you will have to bear with me a little
  19. you remove the front pin holder as the bumper has one moulded to the bottom of it. the other side has a clip that pushes through the rectangular hole in the shock tower
  20. Yes I am still on Nimh batteries. Lipo's will obviously be better and not take as long to charge. But the good news is the truck is now working well and nothing broke. My modified front shock tower is definitely a lot stronger.
  21. I put a small pinion gear on today and it increased acceleration as expected, but the run time from the battery seemed to be a lot less. Is this normal?
  22. Looks interesting. I wonder if the diff cover would fit onto the E10 chassis. I had a test drive of mine again today and it all seems better. I do wonder if it would benefit from stiffer springs though. I have one problem left to sort out. I have worn down the pinion gear as last time I put it back together I had not set the mesh correctly. I wrongly assumed the mesh was not adjustable. I had not noticed the motor mount was elliptical and if you rotate it the mesh gap changes. when that is fixed I and hoping that I can give it to my son for a session and not have something break. I also added a bumper on the back
  23. we broke another front shock tower. you can not upgrade to aluminium as it is moulded into the diff cover. This is a week point of the models design. I may have found a fix though. I saw a youtube vid on how to mend plastic parts by using a soldering iron to melt plastic and using it to plastic weld the part back together. I did this on the broken shock tower but then I had the idea to fill the holes in the tower to add strength. It does seem to be a lot stronger. I will see how it holds up next weekend
