  1. Evening bump. Oh and I bought it as a roller yes

  3. Hi As above, I have for sale my Hong Nor X3e Sabre. This is the kit version, not the RTR version. Its much higher spec, with loads of extras. Hong Nor list it as a competition buggy. First, ill say, i bought this late Nov from a user here, and have never used it. I was hoping to get back into this, after a long break. But i havent touched it, so it may as well go to some one who will use it. Ill include links to the original owners build thread, and the guy who sold it to me. So you will be able to see lots of history, and pictures etc. As I said, ive been out of the hobby, so i dont know that much about it! Some details of my purchase (from the seller, literally pasted from PMs) CNC uprights CNC rear chassis brace 3 sets of wheels (2 are new) 2 body shells, one used but very good cond, and 1 brand new painted the one in the pics, never used! HPI Shock guards (front+rear) T Bone bumpers front and rear Louise RC rear wing Buggy has brand new wheel bearings (all 8 of them) Brand new shock and diff oils and loads of spares... As i said, this is a much higher base spec than a RTR model, plus is has a lot of extras. Here is the model on Hong Nors site Here is AJs original build thread for it Here is Catalins build thread for it Here is a manual for it These are pictures from when i bought it Here is my meager feedback thread, hopefully shows im legit. And a couple of pics to show i have it, hopefully can make out my username and date with my awesome camera skills! Ill try and answer any questions you may have, but I feel like i was never in this hobby! They way it has progressed since i left. Im just looking for what i paid, not to make any money.
  4. Ok, so im new to electric, and away from rc for 10+ years. Im looking at a used Hobbywing Xerun 4068 2250kv motor. But would need an esc to go with it. Now this is for bashing only, and i need to buy a lot of parts. So looking to spend sensibly, my budget is flexible, i just dont want to buy stuff for the sake of it. Or buy high end stuff if its really of no use to me. I also dont want to buy junk that will just need replacing. To buy a WP SC8 is around
  5. Stupid question from a noob time... The name flight max, would imply it's for flying. But my common sense tells me a battery is a battery. So these Ok for a 1/8 buggy? Would they fit?
  6. Do you know the model of motor? Or is there only one Turnigy Trackstar
  7. Pms sent Thanks for the replies so far
  8. As above really. Will consider anything from a roller, to a complete kit with lipos. Ive mainly been looking at Hyper 7, Hong Nor X3, Losi 8ight, HPI Trophy etc. I will say, ive never had a 1/8, a buggy, or electric! So go easy on the lingo haha
  9. Can you clarify what that Tiger comes with ? Cant work out if its lipos (cant be!)
  10. Well my budget is flexible. But I don't want to spend money for the sake of it. A losi or hong nor kit (pro) I'd probably more than I want to spend. When you factor in the other things I'll have to buy. So a Losi would need to be used really. I've found a used Hyper 7, with everything, Inc lipos. All I'd need is a charger. So that could be a decent starting point. I've looked at the Hyper SSE, bit it doesn't seem to have the parts supply like the 7 does. Due to not as many around I guess. Also seen some Inferno rollers in eBay, seeing what prices they get too. I'd like a kit just to build it. But it's not a deal breaker. Thanks for the input
  11. So I've decided to get back into this, after a long absence. I was always 1/10 touring cars, so buggies, and 1/8 is completely new to me. I was also nitro, and now want to go electric for the following reasons. Noise - my daughter will hate nitro, I'd like to include her. Can't use it just anywhere, neighbours, time of day etc. Ease of use - I use to spend as long trying to get my nitros running right as I did using them Anyway, I've realised off road is the way forward, to start with at least. As I can use it almost anywhere, and on road. Plus more durable. I will be bashing only. No racing etc intended. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hong-nor-x3-sabre-e-rtr-buggy-2.4ghz/rc-car-products/384857 '> http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hong-nor-x3-sabre-e-rtr-buggy-2.4ghz/rc-car-products/384857 Ive read a bit about the Hong Nor X3, it seems to be better quality than a Hyper 7, parts aren't too much, and not too hard to find. Would this be a good option? It's obviously rtr, minus batteries and charger. Is this worth the money, or are some parts of it junk? I'd love a kit, but seems there aren't many electric buggy 1/8 kits. I'd also be more than happy buying used. I've looked at Hyper 7, these seem to be a very solid choice. But all are converted, so a lot for sale are nitro not electric. Can't seem to find a new kit, as it wouldn't matter much if it's nitro or electric? Also like the Losi 8ight. Am I on the right track here? I can obviously wait a it and hope something used pops up. But I'd like it by Xmas, so it can be a present from gf. Cheers I've looked at the Hyper 7.
  12. Thanks for the replies. So what sort of ball park for a Hyper 7 roller, no electrics etc should i be looking at ? They seem to vary quite a lot. The ones that come with motors etc, im yet to learn what ones are good, what are junk. So hard for me to judge if they are worth the prices being asked. The other question, is what sort of price point would buying a nitro be worth it, and converting myself. Not sure the bits i remove will be worth much though ? I completely agree about the 1/10 /touring issues. As much as i love the look (of the chassis and setup mostly) they are so cool looking. They are just limited to use, and a bit more fragile. I guess i could still get one down the line. Or if its just for the odd use, car shows etc, i could buy any old kit, as long as it runs, and can take the shell i want.
  13. Hi I'll use this as a bit of an intro, so sorry if it rambles. I've been away from rc for a long time. But am thinking I'd like another one to play around with. I used to have nitro 1/10 cars, started with a Kyosho Pure Ten, had a Thunder Tiger, and some old Kyosho chassis I spent far too much on. Think it was something like world cup or gp. Sure some of you will know! Anyway, the idea came about when someone suggested I could make a replica of my real car, for shows and meets etc. Which does sound like some fun. So I started looking at 10th cars again. But the more I look, the more I think a buggy would make more sense. I could use it mostly anywhere, and not be too afraid to let my little girl play a bit. I'm not too keen on the truggies or trucks, just buggies. Does this sound reasonable, that a buggy would be a better return, more durable, much more practical for bashing. Then I can look into a car down the line if I'm interested enough. Though been looking at the Hobao H4E and drooling! But belt is even less practical for bashing I guess. I do remember a lot of my previous rc time being spent repairing whatever broke, most times I used them. So durability does sound good, as does the ability to use it on grass, dirt etc. The main downside of a buggy for me, is it's not a car, and can't look like my car. I gather with road tyres, they are fun on road too. Though obviously not as good as a car would be. I tend to want something middle of the road, rather than the cheapest option. So although I have no intention of anything other than bashing, I don't want to buy budget level, then need to upgrade most of it in a week. I like the look of the Hyper, though still trying to learn the differences between 7/8/9 etc. And all were nitro I think so will need converting, or buy used and already done. Also the Losi 8ight looks lovely. From my reading, superior to the Hyper, if slightly less robust. I'm currently thinking about buying a roller, possibly used as that offers some good deals. I'd like to build a kit, but it's not a deal breaker, as I'll be tinkering with it anyway. I've seen some cheaper options, like FTX Team C Stoke Maverick Hyper SS E (not sure where this fits with Hyper 7?) But don't know enough about them, or if they would just be false economy. So any pointers, opinions etc are welcomed. Is off road as fun as it looks? Are there any others I should be looking at? A lot come up used, so helpful to know some models to look out for. For bashing should I bother with the 8eight over the Hyper? Does it really matter if I get a 7/7.5/8/9 Hyper? When I finally learn the difference between them! Sorry for the ramble. I'm still reading and learning a lot. But I'm quite impulsive, and like having something half decent. Gf is going to use it as my (albeit possibly early) Xmas present. Thanks for your time
