  1. I bought this in 2015 but due to a sudden house move it got boxed up and put into storage. I never got around to actually charging the battery and using the car at all which is a shame because I spent a fair bit on it. Its the first rc car I've ever owned and I vaguely remember that I was missing something that hindered my attempt at getting it up and running.. possibly just a set of specific plug connections? I hope that everything I bought is still in the same box and nothing has gone walkies. I really want to get this going so I'm going to start reading up on the whole electric RC thing again as I've forgotten everything that I read 7 years ago. By looking at the pics, does anything stand out as "missing" or "in need of attention"? Some links to the best step by step guides would be much appreciated too. I'm sure I had some bookmarked all this years ago. Thanks!
  2. I tried setting it away to charge and it beeps for a bit to indicate an error, but it hasn't sorted itself out. Piece of crap.
  3. I will try that but don't have access to another charger. At least not today as I'm off to work in half an hour. I've submitted an RMA request to HK anyway as the guy on live chat suggested I do so. I've had nothing but issue's getting this charger up and running! hah
  4. Just bought them both new, tried them for the first time today and they both turn on ok but once I start flicking through the menus on the charger the display goes all hieroglyphics style on me. Seems ok: Hieroglyphics: A few more button presses and all the words/letters on the screen appear like that. I don't know whether this is a power supply issue maybe not providing enough power or whether the charger just isn't working right. The models are the http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__7523__Turnigy_Accucel_8_150W_7A_Balancer_Charger.html and the PSU is http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004KYD0KE/ I can't speak for the chargers ability to charge as I can't even navigate the ****ing menu's to get it going
  5. Ah, positivity. I like it! It's arrived already! I was expecting Tuesday..
  6. Thanks for the replies guys, I think that's everything sorted As for the TRX connections... I never realized that the metal connectors are just really hard to push in all the way and it wasn't a case of my wires being too chunky after all.. just took a bit of firm prodding with a flat head screwdriver and a bit of praying that I didn't slip and stab my thumb My Mamba Monster ESC/motor comes with 6.5mm bullets so I may switch to them soon. I'll see how things go, Cheers!
  7. Oh really?! I just bought this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291031264033?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  8. Ok thanks. Pretty much the same price that I paid for my charger that I thought I was getting a good deal on hah. That one isn't in stock in the UK though so I'm going to look for alternatives. I want this delivered asap as I'm only waiting on the lipo now before I can get my new buggy up and running!
  9. I'm going to be using 3s and eventually 4s if I find a pack that fits. How do I figure out that it needs 7+? I'm not doubting you I'd just like to understand And what about that power supply I linked above? Thanks
  10. This is the one I bought http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__7523__Turnigy_Accucel_8_150W_7A_Balancer_Charger.html It doesn't come with a power supply and I didn't realize until now. My local Maplin may have something but I don't want to be paying a fortune for it. Can anyone tell me what exactly I need to be looking for? I THINK I need something that is 11-18v and 4A+ according to whats written on the charger itself.. so if that's the case then the cheapest one on the maplin site is no good as it's only 3A This one is cheap as chips: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__25283__HobbyKing_105w_7A_Compact_Power_Supply_100v_240v_.html Opinions? Thanks
  11. Hey all, I'll jump right to it. Is this ok as far as connection goes? The wires seemed too fat to fit properly inside the connector so this is as far as I could get the metal prongs to go without trying to force it with a screwdriver or something. Next - Do I need to adjust the position of the small cog to be perfectly in line with the bigger one? The position it's in above is where I assumed it should be but I can push it closer towards the motor if needs be but it feels like it's going to grind against the orange metal once moving. Finally: I'm presuming I'm plugging the 3-colour cable from the esc into the receiver as opposed to the black/red one. Which way in do they go as they aren't labelled as positive or negative. Thanks for the help! I know these are total newbie questions but best to ask i guess.
  12. As the title says. I've overshot my budget for my new (and very first) buggy that I'm putting together and if I can save a bit without having to buy crap quality then happy days Have yet to buy a motor/esc combo and servo too but think it's probably best to get those new. I'm in the Newcastle area and can pickup otherwise delivery is fine. Thanks!
  13. I'm not sure what you're proposing here other than the fact that you're asking if it's possible to use your dad's 55" 4K tv as a play toy in the back of his car. I bet this wasn't his idea Streaming 4K over a wired connection is demanding enough, so if I were to take a guess, I'd say streaming wirelessly outside from a moving RC car would be a task where any result wouldn't be worth the f*#k on beforehand. Unless of course you're just wanting to stream any kind of video res and the mention of 4K was just an e-willy measurement .
  14. I've ordered the roller but in doing so I've overshot my budget by miles considering I have nothing to put inside it yet! Anyway, I've been recommended a few motor/esc combo's from the guys in the chat rooms but I'm struggling to afford them at this time so was wondering if there was any cheaper alternatives. I may be mistaken, but the two suggestions were the Mamba Monster ESC/Neu-Castle 2650kv combo or the Hobbywing Xerun KV2000/Xerun 150A combo. I'm a newbie and this is my first rc car. I'm looking for a setup suitable for bashing. If one or either of those motor/esc combo's are way way better than anything else I'll find then I'll happily wait until I have the funds to get them otherwise I'm open to suggestions for something more "budget" to get me going Thanks
  15. Thanks for the replies, I ended up getting too excited and buying a new Hyper SS roller. Had I actually remembered to check back here I may have explored other, cheaper options but ah well.. Thanks a lot all the same!
  16. Sorry this posted twice on my phone please delete
  17. Just checking if anyone has anything to offer. I'm a newbie so looking to convert to electric. Can collect from Newcastle area but don't mind covering postage also. thanks
  18. Right well you've convinced me enough to go with electric I guess that's all I need to know then! Unless of course there is a better model I can but for
  19. Yeah I just realised what the E stands for in E Firestorm about 10mins ago So would the Nitro not be a good choice over the Electric in my case? I wouldn't mind the cost of fuel etc as it would be an ongoing thing but I've heard tuning or something can be a bit confusing/difficult especially so for anyone with no experience. Edit: Thanks smeghead28 I'd stick with electric then I might just stick with the supplied battery then as it means less money to spend. Well I might just go ahead and order one!
  20. Well it seems I was a bit confused when searching for the HPI Firestorm. I originally seen a recommendation for the Firestorm Flux, which is why I was getting results for
  21. Thanks for the replies! I forgot to mention that I have been doing some research so I do have a rough idea of some of the other things I'd need alongside the RC car itself, hence why I was unsure about my
  22. Due to various commitments and financial strains etc I don't have a lot of money to put towards a piece of plastic on wheels (not my words! ). From what I've read, people seem to recommend spending above
