  1. if you do RTR, what motor will it be?
  2. That helps alot pal, cheers for that. Just one more thing... How is it speed wise?
  3. Out of the 3, the Vaterra GTR looks nicest and price isnt bad but how good is: "inline-mounted 15T brushed motor", in performance terms? It says 540 type motor. What kinda speeds will that motor do reallistically? (Ive read the guide on here but if anybody has the same motor they will be able to give more realistic info)
  4. Hi all, I currently have a nitro (HPI RS4 1st gen) its running sweet but im loving these electric drifters/on road cars, and want to go down that route. I want something i can learn to drift with or just use it on tarmac as normal I hear tamiyya TT01 thrown about alot, is that a good one to start with? I also see alot of Drift spec RTR's online, but out of my price range. Now the most important bit, my budget: I am going to sell my nitro and put in a bit extra but budget is not massive, about
  5. BTW, what glow plugs you use dude? I need a new one BUT Im so confused with all the diff types, N3 R3 R4 R5 OS#8, cold medium hot, turbo non-turbo. Even the HPI site shows 3 diff types for this model! Theres more choice than the local kebab shop! lol Ive taken out my current one and checked it, no markings or type numbers on it. Its been in for probably about 4 years now with maximum of about 1 year usage, its still working but i reckon i should get a new one anyway. If anybody else knows, shout up. Cheers guys
  6. Awesome. Thanks for checking them dude. Much appreciated. I shall order them later.
  7. Cant find my exact model but have found a couple that look very similar. Do you think they will fit? Ive looked at the HPI Nitro 3 Evo and RS4 18SS (which i have been told through this forum has an engine 2 models newer than my 15fe) So i have got the part numbers from them but i cant be sure they will fit. Next steps? Order them and try fit them or contact HPI?
  8. I cant find a manual for this thing. Its too old. Anybody on here have one? 15fe, i think its a Nitrostar engine.
  9. Hi guys, I have an old HPI RS4 with 15fe engine. Today I managed to lose the 2 screws that bolt the exhaust to the engine and also 1 screw that holds the engine to the chasis. The exhast is now hanging off. Can i get replacement screws? What size are they and where from? Tried ebay but can only find the hex type screws. I don't even know if they were the type that were on it. Help!! P.s the previous owner obv didn't threadlock
  10. Anybody meeting this coming weekend? Saturday 6th/Sunday 7th? Would love to meet up and maybe even get some help with tuning :-) Cant seem to get it right, cuts out on full throttle no matter what i do.
  11. Took it out again on Sunday, managed to get a 10 mins play but it did cut out a few times, its cutting out when i press the throttle more than half. Then it takes ages to start again, 20 pulls +, Although i reckon this is due to knackered glow starter, maybe not holding charge (so i have ordered a new one) Anybody round bradford area want to help? could meet up on a sunday somewhere? I could do with some help getting the tune right. Morrisons/Tesco/Asda car parks? Anywhere with some smooth tarmac really as mine is not an off roader.
  12. Hey, cool theres somebody wanting to meet in bradford. Didnt think there was anybody. Any plans for meeting up at peel park soon? ill come along.
  13. +1 You need to adjust the linkage, it may have a little curcular twistable nut at the connection of the linkage arm to the servo. A friends car has this too, you have to twist that to adjust the arm length which in turn adjusts the idle speed. See if yours has this. Maybe you should put a photo up of the carb, servo and linkage.
  14. Checked that. Removed glow plug and pulled starter, the piston rises and drops fine.
  15. UPDATE: Ok so yesterday i tried to fire up the car again. I put fuel in, primed it, engine was at room temp, pushed the glow starter in, pulled on the pull start...... pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... (go stick the kettle on, i will be here a while) pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... pulled again.... .......after about 40 pulls (and a cramp in my bicep), i stopped. Adjusted the LSN and tried again, after about 10 pulls it started. Yay!! BUT, i think the pull start might be on its way out because 4 out of 10 pulls there is no resistance, it just extends freely (although the flywheel does spin on each pull) The other 6 times i can hear the engine trying to fire up. Anybody had any experience of these symptoms?
  16. Right then Trans4Mation, I set the needles to standard and fired it up (in the garage), it started fine, revved it up and it was fine until I hit full throttle, then it stalled. So I thought id take it out anyway, went to local carpark and fired it up, worked for 4 mins and then stalled again (as it was slowing down and reaching idle speed). I left it 5 mins and was doing something else, when i tried to start it after that it wouldnt start. Tried for 30 mins, amending the needle settings over and over again but to no avail. The fuel was reaching the carb. Checked the glow plug & it was fine. Removed the glow and pulled the starter incase it was flooded. Checked glow starter, that was fine. Then tried opening the throttle to half and tried starting it, just would not fire up. The only thing I can think of is that the engine was too cold? maybe? It was sat outside for 5 mins in 13 degrees c after the first run so could it have got too cold, but then i did richen it out slightly and it still wouldnt fire up. Anybody have any idea? tips for what to check?
  17. Nevermind, checked outa carb cleaning video on YouTube last night
  18. I have fired up the car before, as mentioned the first post, and it did run but not as quick as a rival .15 belt driven car. So I will play with the tune and see what I can get out of it. Yeah the fuel is model car fuel. The closest model shop is 15 miles away and thats all they sell, what fuel should I be buying? Any recommended brands and where I can buy them? Dont have any carb cleaner. Where can I get that? Should I open up the carb and then spray it in or let it trickle in through the 1mm-ish gap?
  19. Lol yeah that filter is crap, keeps falling off too. Ill be replacing that. Cool. Ive adjusted both the big needle amd the little screw popping out of the carb. Turned them both clockwise until they wouldnt go any more and then back 2 and half turns. It turns out the fuel one (hsn) was about 3 turns in from full open so good job ive got that set properly now. Will give it a run tomorrow and report back. So glad ive found what model and engine it is.
  20. You have some right experience. Cheers for the info dude. Much appreciated.
  21. Hey erm......quick question. Which way is "all the way in"? Turn the HSN clockwise fully and then 2.5 turns anti clockwise? Or the other way round?
  22. Daaaamnnn. Trans4Mation u are a geniousssss!! It is the HPI FE15 engine. Awesome, I finally know what engine it is. I also google the rs4 3 evo and the rest of the car matches that. All the setup is the same. Maybe somebody put this engine on that car? Anyway, that a diff issue, now I need to know about this engine, good/bad? Whats 2,5? Is it powerful? Cant find much more info about the engine itself online
  23. Ok well there are no belts. It has little metal prop shaft and drive shafts connected to each wheel. The body shell may well be standard, its a blue bug eye with white multispoke rims. As for servos how can I check? Ive trawled through pages of google images and cant find one with the HSN like mine. Hence me joining this forum. Its not 2 speed, cant see 21 on the engine anywhere either
