  1. I am becoming more and more disappointed with my truck realizing that it just isnt made to for speed. i have created a new thread in the monster truck section. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/topic/197979-stripped-tekno-drive-shaft-in-stampede/
  2. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30127-/ I am having to force myself into realising that Traxxas Stampede are not built for speed. I would like to think that my pede can take a good knock after spending a lot of money upgrading it, and yes it does, i can hit curbs at high speed, jump 15ft without any problems but when it comes to speed something always breaks. I finally received my my new MIP drive shafts. (the last MIPs i had fell apart at high speed, probably because i didnt put enough loc tite in them) So all set ready to go and....... after less than 100m of full 6s lipo (2x 3s 5000mah) castle creation speed. my tekno drive shaft strips. I though these drive shafts were bullet proof? i am beginning to think the stock shafts maybe better. It appears there was too much play in the shaft, although i fond that hard to believe because there is not adjustment. This is not the first time i have had problems with the Tekno drive shafts, last time i went racing with my pede, the shaft running through the slipper clutch stripped out on the key'ed side where the grub screw hold ths Tekno connector. So its a sad situation, trying desperately to make a new speed record and build the fastest pede ever but i just cannot get over the 90mph barrier. gggrrrrr
  3. I am still waiting for my replacement MIPs to arrive as soon as i have them i will fit them in my pede and post some speed tests
  4. Thanks for the help guys, I reset the model in my transmitter and 're bound the receiver and the brakes are working perfectly. I had obviously changed a setting and forgot to change it back
  5. Rayy, yes the transmitter does have ABS setting, to be honest i am a little confused by these settings, it appear the manual is a direct translation from another language and i dont really understand it
  6. yip done mate, all calibrated, i think its a programme setting with my futaba transmitter
  7. mydoddy69. I will take your advise and revert back to the traxxas tqi transmitter just to rule out any mechanical issue with the track before i look into any programming issues with the controller. my next step would be to reset the model on the transmitter and start again, i am not having any issue with my other pede which has the mamba 2 in. i love that ESC a lot because i can connect it to my laptop to programme the brake and throttle curves
  8. yip done that thanks, it wouldnt allow me to calibrate the esc without reversing the channel. the brake issue is a strange one, i have checked the slipper clutch and literally didnt change a thing when fitting the new futaba receiver and binding it to the new transmitter, the truck works great other than the brakes.
  9. to run 8s lipos in a stampede 1:10 scale truck would be insane,
  10. Hi, I have a stampede 4x4 vxl with stock ESC, velineon brushless motor and stock slipper clutch, I recently upgraded my traxxas tqi transmitter to a new Futaba 4pls. I managed to bind the controller to the new futbaba receiver and then calibrate the esc. Everything works great except its like i have lost my brakes. when i relax the throttle, my pede just free wheels, or i wait 2 secs then ram into reverse. I have been through and read the manual and cannot find out how to set the brakes, i took a chance getting the Futaba transmitter as i am more of a spektrum person but would have been stupid sticking with spektrum after all the good reviews i read about futaba. I found the futaba a little more complex but it is growing on me, maybe i am missing somesomthing. Can anyone help with how to increase the brake setting with my setup? many thanks
  11. I have never had a problem with the proline glue. My biggest problem is getting the tyres off when my strapping snaps, gggrrrrr
  12. I have endless problems with tyres ballooning I cannot understand why no one is selling reinforced tyres, I know this topic has been thrashed out before but none of the comments make sense. I will look into the grp option
  13. Thanks I tried it with a 42t and 21t, just couldn't get them to mesh close enough. I will buy a few more gears and try your suggestion which looks.like it will give me the speeds I want.
  14. Mydoddy69 My bad. My motor is a 1515 25v http://www.rcplanet.com/Castle_Creations_1_8_Mamba_Monster_2_25V_Extreme_C_p/cse010-0108-02.htm You had me thinking that I may have been killing it on 6s. But it definitely handles 6s very well doesn't get half as hot as the velineon
  15. Thanks for the YouTube clips I have not seen the 121mph clip, that looks insane. Watch this space I will be posting some speed tests very soon. I am a little restricted with pinion and spur gear size. The castle/stampede conversion makes it a bit difficult. It will not accommodate any source gear less than 54t as the motor cannot get close enough. I maybe able to fit a wrt pinion but it's very close to the edge. Will give a try and let you know
  16. Mydoddy69 My castle creations motor with mamba 2 is defo 25v 6s.from rc planet. The import duty stung me 20% Ordered: 1 Shippable Amount: 1 Castle Creations 1/8 Mamba Monster 2 25V Extreme Car ESC/2650 combo CSE010-0108-02 $286.95 Thanks for the heads up about the motor mount and bearing I will keep my eye on it. I have only run it with a 21t pinion and 54t slipper. But not done any extensive speed tests, only with my mobile phone. The diffs are all stock. I did break a gear in the front housing but replaced it again with stock. If my wife knew how much I spend on my hobbies I would have been divorced and long time ago: )
  17. You are right, i cannot class it as a stampede 4x4, other than the chassis.
  18. Just a quick break down in costs, off the top of my head what i can remember: Stampede 4x4-

  20. Hi thanks for the replies, re checking the speed- i have an app on my LG G2 mobile which i have strapped under the cover of my pede, it works quite well although i am quite nervous about doing anything radical as i dont want to damage my mobile. i will be buy a garmin edge 200 from halfords this week which will be a lot better, after which i will post some speed test. I am running 6s 2x 3s 5000mah and currently hitting about 90mph, i will need to play around with my spurs and pinions, also i dont have a very flat long enough space to to give it a good test. I have 17mm street fighters on and there is no traction, it takes about 20secs for it to get full speed, Keeping the front down is not too bad, becuse i dont have any traction with my street fighters it isnt really a problem the truck doesnt flip, also with 2x 3s lipos there is a bit of weight. I can quite honestly say that i have spent well over a
  21. I will post my 100mph speeds in my pede next week end, one of my mip cvds fell apart this week end, I never put enough loctite on one of the joints and I lost a barrel connector. Ordered some online so as soon as I have fitted it I will post it online. The fastest pede speed I have seen on YouTube is 116mph. I plan on breaking that record. 130mph is my target
  22. Thanks, I have not read that anywhere and to be honest bashing my pedes around my local park can be a bit hard on the parts. Racing them on a road with smooth acceleration may be a bit kinder The way I saw it was that they are monster trucks not sports cars, those plastic stock axles were the first to go I reckon even on road they would have snapped, even other cheaper brands have metal cvds I just think for the price that you are paying for these trucks, traxxas could have made them a bit tougher
  23. Thats exactly what i replaced the stock plastic CVDs with, those MIP CVDs are BP. however, just to note, i had to buy longer ones when i upgraded to the protract wide arms. The stock MIPs were too short. Also the MIPs do not have holes in the axles for the 12mm hex, this becomes a problem when upgrading to 17mm tyres. The standard conversion 12-17mm requires a hole in the axle for the pin in the 12mm hex, you need to buy the tappered upgrade made buy MIP with the 2 grub screws to suit the keyed axel.
  24. Hi, I invested in buying a RTR complete stock Traxxas Stampede 4x4 vxl recently. I put a lot of research into buying my first RC car. i wanted something exciting, fun and fast. The Traxxas stampede ticked all the boxes, Fast (65mph) waterproof, and spares are not hard to find. When it arrived, i didnt even bother using the stock nimh batteries, i come from a knowledgeable plane and heli back ground so i already had a good lipo a charge and some 3s 5000mah. Charged up the bad boys and sent out to do some hard core bashing around my local park. All lasted about 10mins before the CVDs snapped. So i ordered some more and waited 3 days, same again they snapped after 10mins of general bashing. The next to break were the shocks, the top plastic caps snapped off. then the servo gears broke, then the steering arms work loose and i was unable to steer, there is now adjustment on the stock steering spring. There were so many other parts that gave trouble i have lost count. Although i have enjoyed spending late nights rebuilding and upgrading my pedes it has honestly cost me an absolute fortune, most of the good high quality spares can only be bought from the USA, the prices are not but what you save on the price you spend on import duty. The traxxas stampede 4x4 was not designed to run on the 3s lipos. no way can the stock parts handle the torque and speed. dont get me wrong, this truck is rapid and the velineon brushless is well worth it. If i could turn back time, i would have rather spent
