  1. Deafty, it is a bit of a mission to control at high speed, but doesnt last long enough for to get enough practice Video due in 3-4 weeks once i have returned fro holiday,,,,,,, promise
  2. Nice one, thanks mydoddy69, trying to order them, just battling to find a dealer ebay is good, just searched the part number http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRAXXAS-SLASH-4X4-FAST-LANE-MACHINE-ALUMINUM-DIFF-CUP-FLM26030-/201147967808?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ed55a6940 thanks again
  3. gear ratio is currently 20/54 i have tried 25/36 the mod 1 upgrade but it didnt like it, found it got hot very quickly and struggled. i was worried that the esc or motor might burn out so i just reverted back to the 25/54 ratio which o find most fun
  4. Tug, where have you seen ally diff caps, i have been looking but cannot find any
  5. Noj, yes sorry my bad for forgetting who it was. thank you
  6. i have been wanting to post speed run videos and will definitely do so, i have ordered my set of xo-1 tyres, i am away on holiday for 2 weeks next week so when i return i will be all set to do some serious speed runs and post them on this forum
  7. It runs great with only one of the 3s lipos, and good for general bashing about on ramps and in the woods, but when i add the second 3s lipo and take it on long flat straight at full throttle it just falls apart. Its a different animal and incredibly stupid quick, over powered to say the least, i have upgraded dozens of parts, trying to find parts that are indestructible. I believe i am almost there and hell bent on getting this truck to be stable at high performance. someone else in this forum advised me to get the xo-1 tyres and i have been putting it off but admittedly they are the only option, also with less traction it should be kinder on the parts.
  8. So i tried to get my pede to run full throttle again with castle mamba 2, and 6s lipos, (2x 11.1 5000mah) It barely lasted 3 secs at full throttle when the front tyre exploded and the rear diff housing nuts shredded off. This is the second time one of my HPI phaltline 17mm tyres exploded, even after i had strapped them and used shoe glue to keep the strapping stuck. next step, invest in xo-1 and replace the diff housing. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30254-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30253-tyre-exploded-at-full-throttle/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30252-/
  9. Hi, i have recently fitted a drift gyro to my traxxas stampede. The only safe place i could find to mount it was on some double sided foam next to the steering servo in front of the esc. or directly ontop of the servo itself. both places worked well however i am little concerned about it getting wet and need ideas of how to make it waterproof. Its too big to fit in the same waterproof box as the receiver. there is no room anywhere else on my pede to fit a second waterproof receiver box to house the gyro. I though about tying it in a small waterproof plastic bag or would it be idea to coat it shoo goo or is that just stupid? I would have to accept that the wires could not be removed and the settings could never be changed. any other ideas?
  10. Mydoddy69, Yes, i am also running a mod 1 25t pinion with a 36t spur I was speed testing on a rugby field, the grass didnt feel too bad, but probably any resistance isnt good. The dust in the photo is from where i used my dremel to grind away slightly to allow the 25t pinion to fit. i did make sure it wasnt snagging on anything, i just didnt clean the dust. stock speeds with a velineon as you say are 20-45mph but with a castle 6s i should be getting about 60-80mph with a 54t spur and 20t pinion
  11. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30162-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30161-20140820-184958/ So my quest to build the fastest pede continues...... unsuccessfully As you can see the photos above, i received the 25t pinion and revo mod1 spur. i fitted it with a few slight modifications to my pede with a castle motor. I set out on a nice long flat grass straight near my house but i could immediately hear the motor was labouring, i kind of ignored it and began to pull the trhottle, after about 4secs the motor over heated and cut out. I waited about 5mins and tried again. this time one of my HPI phaltline tyres blew gggrrr So i am not sure if i should just give up and settle for the stock speeds of about 60-80mph I dont like the revo mod 1 gears, i think the motor works too hard and might burn it out I am also not sure what tyres to choose, i want something hard wearing, long lasting, I quite like the XO-1 tyres, there is no ballooning. i quite like the fact they are smooth, it might be more fun skidding around and less harsh on the motor. I really thought those HPI phaltlines were good and suprised they broke. not really will to try them again any other good tyres to consider?
  12. I recently swapped my stock traxxas servo 2175 in my pede for a SAVOX SC-1268MG because everytime i hit something with the stock servo the gears stripped and the steering was as slow as hell. I swear by the SAVOX, fast as lightning, waterproof and i have bashed it hard and doesnt break. They were expensive at
  13. RCButcher, That sounds like a really good idea. cheers
  14. That is exactly the one i had, the pro line ford 150. i put so much effort into making it look good, and it felt much stronger than the original shell , but didnt last. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30092-2-4x4-pedes/
  15. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/30153-/ What is the best robust shell for a stampede? i have bought some of those clear proline shells, spent long hows painting it, only for it to disintegrate after a couple of bashers. That photo above is the original shell which has probably lasted the longest but now the pins and washers are pulling the the body. and the front wing is cracked, its not going to last for the next few runs. just wondering if anyone has had any luck repairing shells or can recommend a brand which likely to last the longest? Many thanks
  16. Alex97 That is an amazing shell.really is a piece of art. However I want to stay with the monster truck off road theme and will not be changing the chassis as I may as well buy a different truck.I have upgraded almost every part on my pede, the chassis being the only exception.I like the stance of the pede, it's good for general off road use. I just want to get it as fast as a road car.
  17. toddfg Thanks for your comment, it reaffirms my reasons for buying the Futaba. i just think for a few more quid Futaba could have built a more solid design, maybe a little rubber around the grip and a little more eye candy, ie a bit of silver. I will probably learn to like it more, first impressions didnt impress, it felt and looked like i bought some fake import. All that a side, as you say not to forget how much the models cost and better have a radio you can trust than a radio which looks good on a shelf
  18. True, i overlooked the XO-1 tyre option before i invested in the HPI phaltines. The XO-1s will be my next choice. i have just bought the 34t revo mod 1 spur and the 25t 5mm pinion so i am looking forward to giving that a try. hopefully i can get it to fit
  19. I recently upgraded my stock traxxas tqi controller to the Futaba 4pls. I put a lot of research and spent time debating whether or not to get the spektrum 4dxr. I wanted to upgrade mainly because i could bind more than one model to a controller and to set end limits on my servo also to control a gyro. I chose the Futaba, because it had better reviews than the spektrum.I already own a Spektrum DX8 and i love it. its easy to use, very solid and never given any problems, it feels like proper quality when i use it. this what tempted me to get the spektrum controller as a surface radio and i am still not sure if i made the right choice getting the Futaba. Dont get me wont the Futaba is great although i think they have over complicated it and added more functions than i will ever use. I dont like the Futaba 4pls because: The telemetry sensors are stupidly expensive (although i did know this before i bought it) My biggest gripe is that the radio feels very plastic not as solid as my spektrum dx8. The overall build quality of the 4pls just feels cheap and not like the
  20. Cyronn Buying new tyres is probably the best option but tyres that balloon are useless and if I am going to throw them in the bin I may as well try and salvage what I can but at the same time when I do invest in New tyres I want to know the strapping method is going to be the strongest and not fail again. I understand duct tape is the sAme as grey gaffa tape and in my opinion not very good. I heArd that KevlAr tape is supposed to be better but not tried it yet. Would be keen to try a tried and tested fail proof method
  21. Ok, I know this topic has probably been thrashed out a 1000 Times but I really would like to hear various options on the best and easiest way to remove tyres from rims. Option 1. Bake them in the oven as shown in some YouTube videos I have tried this and apart from my wife freaking out about the smell it did work. However I suffered blisters to my hands and it kind of warped my tyres a bit. Option 2 Boiling the tyres. I have not tried this but I hear it's not as good as baking them and you still end up burning yourself Option 3 Soak them in acetone. Again I have not tried this but after watching a few YouTube videos it looks like a good idea. My concern is that if I have chrome plated rims, will acetone not remove the chrome? Is it not better to painstakingly spot touch the rim with acetone whilst peeling off the tyre? I stopped buying pre glued tyres awhile ago after I learned about the ballooning. If I could engineer a reinforced tyre I would be a millionaire So when I bought the tyres separate I strapped them with plasterboard mesh tape and grey gaffa tape and after a few spins it split and the tyre started to balloon again Gggrrrrr So my next question is what tape do I use to strap the tyres in future? Many thanks for the advice
  22. Mydoddy69 You are right about modifying the motor plate I took a look at yesterday and was tempted to get the dremel out and cut a longer slot although there is not an awful lot to cut and will probably only gain about 2mm. I just need to investigate the revo gears before I start cutting anything because my concern was if I do damage the motor plate and need to replace it I fear I might strip the heads of the screw bolting the motor plate to the motor which means I will be in. lot more trouble. I have already 1:8 scale tyres fitted to my pede after the 17mm upgrade I fitted the hpi low profile street fighters
  23. Mydoddy69 I do bot have any proof of speeds higher than 90mph, they were under assumption because I didn't have proper speed measuring. Kit. I have now bought a Garmin edge 200. And have yet to give it a good test. The revo gear mod is the only way to get better speeds as you say and I will be buying it just want to get my truck running smoothly with the gears I have before I take it to the next level.
  24. I hate to admit it but you are right Noj Although i am not going to give up, i will look for my stock drive shafts and give them a try. although i dont think my gearing is quite right yet either to get the speeds i want, at the moment i am using a 21t pinion and 54t spur. and although i havmt given it a good test yet i dont think i am going to get more than 90mph
