  1. I'm really sorry but this a third question does the standard controller with the ftx have the 3v warning in it to stop myself from ruining the lipo battery? Will everything else be ok to run with lipo without screwing it up?
  2. Also what charger would I need to charge this lipo battery and preferably it would be able to charge nimh aswell http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__216__408__Chargers_Accessories-Battery_Chargers.html?gclid=CLzois71icACFVIPtAodtmIA3g They do seem quite cheap I am guessing hobbyking is safe to use?
  3. Will this be ok to go into a stock brushed ftx carnage http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__21001__Turnigy_5000mAh_2S1P_20C_hardcase_pack_ROAR_APPROVED_.html If not what would they seem to be good prices.
  4. Also I am looking to get lipo and will buy the overlander charger but for time being ill be happy using a higher rated nimh battery so bearing this in mind would this be ok 360779174384 I know using ebay was not advised but this guy has thousands if feedback.
  5. Thanks capri-boy once again you have helped out :-) I will get used to the car pretty quickly but I know I am going to find it a bit slow as I used to play on my brothers hpi savage big bore engine nitro car. I have seen some videos on YouTube of the carnage going from brushed to brushless and it is quite insane and is something I will definately be aiming for. I think the suspension arms will stay plastic and I'm looking at the big bore aluminium shocks. And carbon for possibly chassis plate as this will be 2 what gets scraped. I am looking at purchasing http://www.modelsport.co.uk/overlander-rc6-vsp-80watt-7a-output-ac-dc-charger-with-fan/rc-car-products/379060 whixh accepts both lipo or nimh just after reading the reviews I will need an extension for it and to make sure I have correct connectors. I would guess if using lipo to buy a safety cut out/warning system when it reaches 3v so that the cells don't get damaged. 5he steering servo is 3kg as standard. Yes i will need to change the esc if going brushless and look at the spur a as i have read comments about it smashing them about and also gets really hot. This is so.ething i will do nearer Christmas but if any parts such as the esc can be upgraded to they run with brushed and brushless i am willing to do it that way to be honest i would probably prefer doing it this way so it's not all got to be bought/fitted together then that way of I change something I can see if that is faulty before changing something else. Thanks again capri-boy

  7. Also is it worth while buying the hop ups such as - a heatsink for the motor 261542034113 - aluminium posts for rear spur gear cover - Aluminium extension post 380917896715 - Aluminium Chassis brace mount 390803445023 - Aluminium knuckle arms 360792650208 - Aluminium steering arms 370944000279 - Aluminium Chassis 141172800180 I was looking at getting a carbon bottom plate instead of aluminium but not sure if it is worth it as have read on other threads there is not much weight difference. On the bmmracing site it says it comes standard with big bore oil filled shocks but not to sure if it worth buying these 310764469214 Again sorry about just adding this to the thread just trying to get to grips it all this rc car world.
  8. I have just bought the ftx carnage brushed from bmmracing and have spent hours going through this thread. I have seen some people say that it is 27mhz not 2.4ghz what bmmracing have it marked up as. Can anyone answer this maybe it is a newer model which comes with 2.4ghz. Also in the long I will be going brushless on it but because I am a bit of a newbie I decided ill go brushed. Reading through the threads on here to my knowledge it is worth doing the following. - upgrading the shocks/springs to aluminium. - get sway bars - possibly wheelie bar I was also thinking about upgrading the bottom plate to an aluminium one. I also want to upgrade the battery and have spoke about this in a different post vaguely but where I am new to all this I need a bit of help as to what battery I can purchase or shall I say should purchase. I definately want to go to atleast 3000mah if not more. And possibly to lipo battery I am just a bit concerned after seeing videos on YouTube of these batteries exploding, swelling up if dropped or get to hot. And also read that if they drop beneath 3v the battery is useless. (i think you can buy a safety cut out to stop it dropping beneath 3v. But is it worth taking this risk or just stay to nicd for time being and upgrade the mah? If the battery gets upgraded will I (or is it recommended to upgrade other parts such as the esc or servo? If this is the case what esc or servo is recommended. If there is anything else which is recommended please tell me and if possible can you explain why as I would like to know more and get in to this hobby. Also when I receive the car does it need running in as in half trigger after the first full charge? Like I say eventually I do intend to invest in brushless motor but this will probably be nearer Christmas. To start with I think this is the best way around by upgrading parts bit by bit then it gives me time to get used to the car and make it stronger. Any help would be appreciated guys especially as there is a lot to take in here. :-)
  9. I have had a look through quite a bit of that ftx carnage forum but just got lost In it so many technical terms. I will have another look I was concerned with if I get a battery with to much power it would screw the car up. Or overheat and turn into a blob of melted plastic. Thankyou for your help though much appreciate it
  10. Well looking at that link it appears it does charge nimh so it will charge the normal batteries but I can't see a connector for them. Also lipo batteries are charged using crocodile clips does this mean that when you use them you need to have crocodile clip connections in the car?
  11. So the charger will only charge lipo batteries? This brings the next question which is what are 2s and 3s? And how do I determine what battery would be better for myself using the ftx carnage?
  12. I have heard that they have a rubbish customer service hence why I was wondering if it 2 as possible to use parts from a hpi/ftx/etc on them. My main project is going to be with the ftx carnage but this was just a side object. Also bit off subject but you say about lipo batteries I am also confused about these I was looking at getting lipo for the ftx carnage as I want to change the battery ASAP but think I also need own charger for this. Sorry about typos I am using my phone.
  13. Basically only reason is because I have bought the ftx carnage brushed and was looking for a self build nitro and this is the cheapest out there. Bearing in mind other self builds are 200+ and don't come with controller/battery. If it only lasts till Christmas then that's that but would have had to a certain extent a it of experience with a nitro self build. Seeing as this clearly isn't favoured at all what other self vuild kits preferably
  14. I k ow this isn't rated but It can be bought quite cheap in a self build kit and wanted to know if there are parts from another car which can be used to improve on this and in effect just use the chassis.
  15. So I was just wondering if I was to purchase the acme tech condor road car (i know this isn't highly rated) but are there any parts if so what parts from other cars will fit on to this one? Any help would be appreciated
  16. Right so about a week ago I bought a used ftx carnage from eBay for 114.99 which came with a ansmann charger delivered but after capri_boy said that this 21st such a good deal (whixh it wasn't thanks pal) I have bought it new for 109.99 delivered. My question really is i have being trawling through the forum and people have being recommending bits like changing to alloy shocks and carbon bottom plate (which I will be doing within the week or so) but want to know what else is recommended to help this car be stronger and faster? I also could do with some help choosing a battery as where I am new to all this I am a bit confused what lipo is and the 2s and 3s if anyone could help us and recommend a battery and battery charger it would be really appreciated. Basically any help is possible I am new to the electric rc cars and could do with as much info as possible. Thankyou in advance guys. :-)
  17. Does anyone have any Li ks or websites they use to purchase these from please?
  18. Firstly thanks for all the replies. I am looking at spending no more than about
  19. Hi there I am looking to do a self build preferably nitro or brushless but not to sure what to look for. I looked at the nitrotek cars but after reading a thread on here I have being majorly put off. If anyone has previously built one and can recommend one to go for or have any ideas as to what to go for it would be much appreciated. Cheers Tom
  20. Hi I am new here and new to the rc world. I have played with a nitro hpi previously but decided to get one for meself and have found this on ebay 181472432419. I have being told from the seller it is the ftx carnage obviously with some mods. (I also paid the extra
