  1. Strange cos my brand new savage flux hp won't backflip on 4s - mind you I have not tried on asphalt. Just dirt tracks and grass.
  2. I think I will take a punt at this - looks great vfm. Like others posts stated - will buy a bunch of spares up front and job done.
  3. Agreed. Just broke my rear this weekend.
  4. Total bollocks - was going for a run in my flux today and noticed the tires the wrong way round. Got torque wrench out to remove wheel and change over and stripped the nut as it did not budge! Ended up with a round nut and unable to get it off! Removed the upright with some fiddling and managed to get the wheel off - can't budge that nut at all. What a nightmare. Just added up replacement parts for that little cock up -
  5. Hi all, Bashing around today with my rustler vxl on 3s. Managed to rip apart a rear drive shaft. I want a replacement that is much stronger - any suggestions? Cheers
  6. If you go down TT route, just consider the parts availability situation - it was one of the reasons I ended up with the Savage. I thought that the MT4 was not 6s ready out the box? I thought TT state max 5s?
  7. I recently got a savage flux too. It is built like a tank and is bloody hilarious fun to drive. Really recommended. I am on 4s at moment and that is bonkers. Heaven knows how mental 6s is but I will find out soon when I acquire 2 3s turnigy nano techs.
  8. Nice one - thanks for your prompt response!
  9. Hi fellow Savages, I got my new car today and have been blasting around on 4s which is quite enough for me for the time being. Anyway - I noticed that when I am stationary on either Tarmac or grass and turn left or right, the movement of the wheels is very small indeed. When I am moving, however, the steering seems fine and the wheels turn by the amount I would expect. Is the servo vastly underpowered on this vehicle or is this just normal operation or have I a dud servo? Cheers
  10. Cheers rctech - that was what I was hoping would be the case. That was what I have done with the rustler - just upgraded as I broke it
  11. Hi guys, I purchased myself a new savage flux today with a couple of 2s lipos. I am wondering what i need to do in the way of any straightforward (no brainier) mods just to allow some moderate jumping and general bashing if anything. I know the world of this truck is massive and there so many things that can be done but for a newbie to the truck, what would you suggest is paramount or am I good to go straight up? Thanks a lot,
  12. Pleased I bought those RPM parts yesterday. Out bashing today and broke a front caster block and A arm already! It gets very hot running 3s on grass too.
  13. Okay, thanks guys. Think I will give the badlands a try. Cheers
  14. Hi all, I recently purchased a rustler vxl, which is great fun. However, I am running a lot off road at the moment and don't think the existing tyres and wheels are cutting the mustard. Tbh, it is probably the fronts as they have no grip on grass from what I can see. It is understeering a lot mainly cos the fronts just can't get traction on the wet grass / terrain. Therefore, I am thinking about getting some 2.8 proline tyre/wheels as an option - possibly the badlands. I also saw something called trenchers. Anyway - please could you assist me - I would like a set of 4 wheels / tyres that I can pop on for this off roading. Cheers, Bill
  15. Cheers, Boo. Ordered myself a new servo. I also ordered a bunch of RPM parts for my rustler - could not resist? Oh and a 3s lipo too...This hobby is starting to burn a hole in my pocket
  16. Thanks Ood. I take it servos are all standard size and these will drop in with no problems? Ta
  17. Hi Oodboo, Please could you advise me or a decent replacement that will be compatible. Cheers, Bill
  18. Good evening all. I am amidst the Thindershot restoration and have been rebuilding the front and rear suspension and adding ball bearings to it all. Anyway, I noticed that my new etronix receiver does not accept the Tamiya steering servo. More specifically, the connection on the Tamiya servo is too big to fit the etronix receiver. Please can you advise me what I need to do to resolve this? Can I pick up a new servo that is a simple string swap with the correct cabling / socket? It might be better to get a new servo as the one in there has been there since late 80s and might be on its way out anyway. Thanks as ever.
  19. Thanks, Tony. I think I will mod it a little then and just keep the original parts in a box
  20. Well I won't be getting my Thundershot from my folks till Monday now, which was a shame. Good news though - my brother has a mint Terra Scorcher (barely used) in the loft and gave it me. Just needs a replacement A5 (I already bought 2 packs of these and the metal protector Not sure I should pimp the Terra Scorcher as it is so mint and might well be worth something? Anyway. I had an unexpected promotion at work on Friday and on a whim went out and bought myself a brand new Rustler VXL to see what modern machines are all about. Well - it has put a smile on my face all weekend. Running with the 2S lipo 3300 that came with it. Just been ragging it around my garden - made a big ramp to jump over too, which was cool.
  21. Hi Tony, Thanks for your help again! Fingers crossed I can get the servo wired correctly then. I have not used a soldering iron since I was at school so have no idea. I don't own one but could purchase and have a practice on some cheap wires first and then have a go. Tbh, I like learning new skills so happy to have a go. I live in a small village in Hampshire. Cheers, Bill
  22. Hi all, I got most of my parts today so nearly ready to start the rebuild. A couple more questions if possible - please excuse how simple they are: 1. Will the original Tamiya steering servo plug into my new etronix rc receiver? 2. How do I charge Tamiya fitting batteries on the overlander charger - I don't see any adapter of that type I my kit. I have my new lipo coming but not here yet. 3. The overlander adapters - i ordered these without really thinking where I use them. What part of the electronics need this connection? Thanks as ever. Bill
