  1. Hi, I would like to offer for sale my HPI Savage XL Monster Truck, which comes with various upgrades...which I built myself from spares. There was a time when I could spend hours just working with these trucks for fun and got to the point where I was competent to operate them safely and strip down and rebuild, however, I just do not have the time available or the interest now to remain with the hobby and so am letting my whole collection go. This truck is supplied as a rolling chassis for fitment with an engine of your choice, however I do have an HPI NitroStar 4.6v1 and v2 engine's available as well as a HongNor 4.6 engine, all brand new and unused either one of which will be supplied with the truck. The truck is supplied with a rotstart v.2 starter unit. Two bodyshells are provided as seen in my pictures. Two sets of brand new and original wheels and tyres are supplied, the original XL chrome terrapins and a set of orange MTA4 wheels and tyres. The truck is fitted with a 3-speed transmission and includes a chrome exhaust and header pipe. Adjustable upper turnbuckles are fitted as are strengthened lower tie rods, i.e the newer toughened version. The electronics box is fitted with the HPI battery charge indicator lights. Anodised orange aluminium metalwork is fitted throughout. Big bore shocks minus oil are fitted......requiring the oil of your choice depending on your plans for the truck. Dual fibre disc brakes are fitted... FLUX HP composite gear towers are fitted... FLUX HP unbreakable differential drives ( Black ) are fitted 47tooth metal spur gear is fitted... A HPI accessory bag will be included, which is basically batteries and spare 'smalls' THIS ITEM WOULD BE BEST SUITED FOR PERSONAL COLLECTION FROM DARTFORD, KENT, UK, ADJACENT TO THE M25 QEII BRIDGE. I would hope to let this car go for around
  2. Hi -BEZ, Many Thanks for your post, this is noted, I'll go and set this up properly..... Kindest Regards, Dave p.s.....I should have reviewed the thread properly before posting today, you've already explained quite clearly what I should do ! Sorry.......not paying attention here. Dave
  3. Hi, Good Evening, Many Thanks for your helpful and friendly replies..... When I get a decent block of time to put some pictures together I'll set up a proper post for making my collection available to others. Honestly, I feel I have tried to 'master' these nitro trucks but feel that I just don't have the time to commit as I would like to nowadays. I'd be very happy to walk away knowing that other people can make use of my collection and give it a good home. Many Thanks again, Kindest Regards, Dave
  4. Good Afternoon all, I have one brand new and unused HPI Savage X and a brand new and unused modified Savage XL vehicle plus LOTS of brand new and unused spares that I would like to offer for sale due to my complete exit from the R/C hobby. Anything that has been used/soiled will not be offered. I am unsure of exactly how I should go about selling these items as none of them are now factory spec. The Savage X is the 2014 model with everything included except the box and packaging. This was bought from eBay for spares but was never used. The box was 'donated' for a house move...... The Savage XL is modified in that the sway bars are of the heavy duty type, the wheels are the orange MT-8GT(?) type, the diffs are the Flux HP upgrades with composite housings etc, the engine has been removed as it was used..........however, there are engines available in my loose spares. The loose spares are basically everything that makes up a HPI Savage such as normal diffs, dogbones, bumpers front and rear, normal diff towers, TVP's, engine mounts and plates etc. Finally, in my loose spares, I have a HPI 4.6 v1 and v2 engine AND a HongNor 4.6 engine, all brand new and unused. I would really appreciate any assistance you could offer as to how I should best approach making this available to somebody who could make use of it..... Thankyou, Kindest Regards, Dave
  5. Hi everyone, Many Thanks for your helpful replies. After some more thought, I'll now be pulling my Hong Nor 5.9 out from my Savage X and then fitting a 16 tooth clutch bell I've just acquired since posting this question. I will then fit the engine into the 'XL' and use this with the 47 tooth spur gear and see what happens. I'm really hoping for good things with this self built 'XL'.........after falling out with the first one that I had originally ! Kindest Regards, Dave
  6. Hi all, Good Morning, Would anyone be able to advise me please.... I've managed to build up a HPI Savage XL for myself minus an engine. I only have a Hong Nor 4.6 or a HPI 4.6 engine available to fit with a 47/17 gear set. Can I use this to power an XL chassis or do I really need to buy in a 5.9 engine ? I'll be using the car for bashing one day, nothing too competitve or high speed. Many Thanks for any advice, Kindest Regards, Dave
  7. Hi, I had this scenario on my Savage X / Force R36 engine. I worked out that the bottom of that black rubber gasket cannot seat properly because the top of the rotostart unit sits too high up and this is where it leaks, because the top of the rotostart unit pushes the gasket out of its correct shape. I cut a straight line accross the bottom of the BACK OF the gasket but not so close that it stops the gasket doing it's job. I got this wrong the first time and had to do it again, so just to be clear, its the back of the gasket that the exhaust is pulled tight against by the spring. I hope this helps - it did completely stop my engine leaks. Regards, Dave
  8. Hi all, I'm in Dartford and would truly LOVE to get out more with my Savvy.....but everytime I get set up to go, batteries charged etc, family life intervenes - Daddy! Daddy! Daddy! The last run for me was over at what we call the glory bumps, going perfectly until the air filter jumped off and jammed the carb. Now we're all set to go again......I just can't get out. Regards, Dave
  9. Hi there, Would anybody here happen to know if Camber Sands is an option for any of us Nitro folk ? I'd really like to let my Savage X loose down there and suspect others would already know if it's doable. I would be happy to make the trek from up here in Dartford. Hope you don't mind me dropping in to ask here ? Many Thanks, Dave
  10. Hi again, As I'm not running the car today, I'm playing about with my new account on here instead. I'd just like to offer a 'historic' pic of when I used to own a Savage 'XL'... http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/28408-/ This was taken at a place called 'Canada Heights' in Swanley which is actually a Motorcross track ! Despite me coming to hate this particular truck, this outing was actually quite successful.... All the best, Dave

Hi Thunderwolf, how's thing's? What's it like for bashing grounds down your way? I'm right next to the Bluewater quarry here but don't expect I'll get access any time soon!

  12. Hi All, Just a quick entry from Dartford.......I can assure you she ain't looking so shiny right now ! http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/28404-/ All the best, Dave
  13. Hi there, Many Thanks for the welcomes and replies... Talking of my 4.1, here are two pics from some years ago when I had it running for a whole ten minutes ! http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/28407-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/28406-/ I'm more confident in my abilities nowaday's in getting the car to run and stay running, but it's taken plenty of effort to get this far. I have to add that browsing various online forums in relation to another hobby of mine has been really, really helpful and this is also the case with R/C stuff. If it wasn't for access to other people experiences, I wouldn't have picked up anything at all and would still be relying on the badly translated instruction manual ! Anyways, I too was thinking that there aren't many people from my local area with Savages, but maybe we'll see more activity out there now the weather is drying out a bit ? All the best, Dave
  14. Hello to you all from sunny Dartford! I'd like to offer a very quick intro for my Savage X and I... I have owned a Savage X since 2006, starting with a 4.1, although I never had the skill or commitment to understand the thing properly, if it ran at all I felt I'd had a good day ! About two years ago I found out that my next door neighbour is well into R/C but in electric form. I demo'd the Savage X for him and he was hooked. I subsequently sold him my 4.1 and he got it going phenomenally well, which led me to buy a Savage XL. This didnt work out for me as we both just couldn't get this thing running at all well and so I ditched this and bought a 2012 Savage X 4.6 Special Edition. We have had much better running from the Savage X platform and it has taken us a lot of time and a steep learning curve to understand the car's, we have also gone through plenty of one way bearings, engine's etc between us ! So, I'm currently at the stage where the car now has a dedicated workshop and frankly, a silly spares pool. The workshop bench is from Argos.......but does the job. It's probably cleaner here than our local hospital ward and this is all because I've tried to focus on having a proper place to work that is clean, dust free and well lit. The car runs well nowaday's but I still have a lot to learn about tuning and performance. I'm currently running a Hong Nor 5.9 but feel that the 4.6 may very well be better. These are some pics from my gallery : Finally, my preference is to run my car in the filthiest conditions I can get away with and then thoroughly enjoy cleaning it back up. I'm happy to strip the thing down and am confident in rebuilding too. I generally take my car out to Dartford Heath/Glory Bumps and would always be interested in meetups if possible to share know how....and if I'm honest, compete a bit too. Thanks, Kindest Regards, Dave
