  1. I have a Sakura D3 clone with a CS ratio of 1.6 that I run occasionally at my local club. We also race GT12, LMP12, Mini and Touring Cars there and they all use additive. We run on Primafelt GT carpet which has a medium grip level due to the amount of additive that gets put down by the other cars. I was wondering what the best tyres are for this application? I have some HPI T-Drifts that lack grip and also a cheap set of ebay special wheels and tyres that are better than my the T-Drifts, but I want to get some decent tyres also. Bearing in mind that I'm relatively new to drifting, what would you guys recommend? I'd prefer them to be as cheap as possible whilst still being semi-decent. Cheers.
  2. Get a Supastox, it is the answer to everything. Seriously though, it is the most fun class I have ever race and if you get yourself down to a good club (DMCRC - I see you have already asked about 1/27 scale on our forum) then you will enjoy every lap of every race.
  3. I've joined the D3 Brotherhood group on FB and some of the cars on there like the silver and gold ones with horizontal shocks etc are really cool. I had my first go with mine last Friday just messing around in the hall our club pits in and the high CS really showed. I found that a few more steering corrections and a little more/less throttle helped a lot. My fun was cut short when the rear CVDs imploded because they weren't lock tighted when made. My fault for not checking but luckily the pins used to hold the hex in place fitted and it's ready for my next play.
  4. I'm loving everything about it so far. I think I'm going to run a Novak SS 13.5 motor with a SP Gran Turismo 2.0 speedo and various 2s lipos. I'm trying to find either a cheap 10.5t locally or get a 10.5t Turnigy from Hobbyking.
  5. Looking good mate! Mine arrived on Tuesday and I've fitted the tensioner and FOW so far. I can't continue with anything until fit the motor but I need to know the size of the spur. I was hoping you could help? Could you also tell me what pinion you run? Cheers.
  6. The one linked is indeed a clone, YoshiMoto has one and mine should arrive in the next few days. The standard (genuine) Sakura is around
  7. For the front you could maybe use find some small magnets and hot glue them to the shell? The Magnetix toy sets have small doubled ended pieces that you could get the magnets out of? Just an idea. Cheers.
  8. That shell looks awesome mate. Hopefully my 190mm shell will be a bit wider than quoted. I bought it when I was using my TT01 and knowing the Tamiya is closer to 185ishmm got some 6mm offset TE37s, let's hope they fit OK. Can I ask where you got your metal servo saver from? Cheers.
  9. In the nicest possible way, I think you should sort your attitude out mate. I'm a teenager and even though people of my age are renowned for being cheeky and rude, I would NEVER reply to someone who has just helped you out in the way you just did. This is a public forum, a place where people with the same love for the same hobby come to ask for help and/or advise. You don't have to sign up here. You don't have to post and you certainly don't have to or have the right to come on here and act in such a childish way. Teshi is an extremely nice guy, if you look through his posts, they are either written to help people or to show people what you can achieve. He said a GOOD brushless system will be
  10. Sounds good mate, SP stuff is among the best. I think I'm going to go with a Gen 1 Tekin 13.5 paired with a SP Turismo 2 ESC. I run a Turnigy 21.5 in my GT12 so might see how much a 10.5/13.5 is. Cheers. ETA: A 10.5t is a smidge under
  11. I'm not too fussed if it's a copy, the chassis being black carbon instead of white did hint it. As long as genuine 3 Racing parts fit I'm happy because it seems a hell of a car for the money. ETA: Do you know whether this come with the wide angle drive shafts as standard? I know they won't be genuine but it saves me buying some.
  12. Hi mate, Thanks for the welcome. I'm not totally new but no one near the level of some on here. My Dad just ordered it from Flying and it came to
  13. I'll be getting the D3 CS OP which has all of the upgrades fitted already so I'll just add a FOW and middle belt tensioner. I have an unpainted HPI AE86 Levin shell that's been drilled for my TT01 so unless I find a cheap set of stealth mounts I'll just have two sets of holes. Thanks for your advice Teshi. Cheers.
  14. Hi again, Because I'm a new member I can't reply to your PMs, so sorry for kind of spamming your thread. I've found two different listings for what I presume is the same car being sold on eBay by Flying XYS. One has a thumbnail with the car sat on grey and silver wheels in front of a white background and one is the car on green/yellow wheels on a wooden table. Could you tell me what one you purchased please? Also, what middle tensioner and FOW did you buy? Cheers. ETA: Could you clear a few spaces in your inbox please?
  15. Thanks for all the replies guys. @Teshi and Foxster It's difficult to say really, I race a Schumacher Supastox at my local club with a largish carpet track so will have a play on there but I want to get something better than my current TT01. If I do get the Sakura (or any other car in the same price range, around
  16. Hi mate, I'm looking to get one of these, can you give me the link for yours? Cheers.
  17. Hi guys, I've got a Tamiya TT01 with a locked rear diff and various upgrades like adjustable upper arms, graphite top deck and obviously drift tyres, but I want something better. I know the TT01 is a decent starter car but I want something a bit better but not really expensive. I plan to carry on drifting (well, trying to avoid the other racers) during practice sessions at my local club and maybe go out to open areas outside near my house. I was looking at this, is it any good? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alloy-Carbon-SAKURA-D3-CS-3R-OP-RC-1-10-4WD-Drift-Racing-Car-Frame-Kit-1-10-/271348781151?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item3f2da5d05f Cheers. ETA: I would get a FOW and belt tensioner as well.
