  1. So what is the Monster Jam chassis? Updated version of same chassis like the XL-5 appears to be?
  2. Looks like a Traxxas Monster Jam chassis Heres another pic of chassis that is much closer in comparison with items bolted on
  3. Always known meals as Breakfast, Dinner/Lunch and Tea. Dinner/Lunch is and always has been the main meal of the day for me regardless of circumstances.
  4. Instruction manual available in pdf format here

  6. It's called selective reporting. The BBC and many newspapers are a propaganda machine and will report what the government and EU wants reported whether it's factual or not. On a side note i see it reported that unemployment is down again and wonder if a record number of sanctions have been applied to jobseekers. If this current lot get back in power it won't just be unemployed and disabled being targeted for benefit cuts, the next in line is the minimum wage earners.
  7. Hi James1986 and thanks for help. The seller stated she was a runner 3 years ago and has been sat in a garage doing nothing since then. The engine turns fine so is not seized. After sitting for so long everything is going to have to be checked and cleaned i think. Thats a good tip on what to get to start with as i am pretty clueless. Well if the car is a bugger to start then it may be best for me to only try starting it when i'm in a relaxed mood otherwise i'll end up chucking the thing around and breaking it. Either that or get rid of it. Thanks to the info from 53HRA i have now downloaded a manual from cenracing.com which will definitely come in handy. I think the engine is possibly an NX15 Lightning but will find out for sure when it arrives.
  8. Thanks for the info, rc cars are a new hobby to me so i'm pretty clueless especially where nitro is concerned as never planned on getting one at all. The cost of that car immediately attracted me to it, i've paid for it now so hope it arrives ok. I did see that the exhaust was missing and there may be other bits missing too but it'll be a good project like you say and one got for an excellent price. I've still got a Tamiya TL-01 chassis to strip and totally rebuild first but it'll be done on a budget using as many of the existing parts as possible. After that is done i'll concentrate on this one. Thanks again. Mike
  9. I happened to be on ebay this morning just being nosey as to whats being sold by people within 50 miles and seeing if there is anything of interest and noticed a nitro car for under
  10. Hardly a manor. You did check the address out on google streetview too right?
  11. Like big gaz i have no option but to claim benefits at the moment although i'd much rather i didn't have to. I have suffered with Tarsal Coalition since i was born but it wasn't until i was in my teenage years that i started to suffer badly with pain. I was brought up in a fairly large family (8 of us) and we weren't well off so i was forced to go to school in unfashionable clothes obtained from charities which made me a target for the bullies. I got fed up of the bullying and skived off school so left with no qualifications. Over the years i have been to the hospital several times to try getting my feet sorted but nothing they tried helped me and a few years ago i was told by surgeons nothing further could be done or tried. Most jobs i got over the years were manual labour requiring me to stand/walk for long periods which i'd do until finally the pain just got too much (anything from 1 day to several months). Some other jobs i got didn't require me walking/standing for long periods and i worked alot longer in those jobs and left for other reasons. Several bad things have happened during my life which i coped with and carried on but about 5 years ago something happened that made me snap and have a mental breakdown. I had no income as i stopped working but didn't sign on dole so could not pay rent or bills and i had stopped opening letters and caring for myself. It took a couple of months before i eventually got myself sorted out enough to sign on but not before it was too late to get evicted. I am better now than i was then but i still suffer depression alot and my foot condition has also got worse as i now have arthritis in ankles. Nowadays i feel i am mentally fit to go back to work but am not physically able so got a second opinion from a different hospital recently regarding my feet and they plan to an operation to fuse bones which should hopefully stop about 80% of the pain i get. I am having the operations done this year so am hoping and praying they'll be a success, it'll be like a new lease of life for me but what i'll be able to do after in this current economic climate where companies keep going under is anybodies guess. I agree with rctruckz that peoples taxes will not be reduced if everyone in this country was working, we're part of Europe so are paying for 2 governments (London and Brussels) to decide how taxes are spent. I'll stop now as not going to get too political, this ain't the site for that. Mike
  12. Yep no crystals in toy grade machines, i stripped down a 40mhz car recently myself to have a look at the insides and see if anything worth salvaging before promptly binning the lot of it. You'll find some half priced 27mhz & 40mhz crystals at themodeller.com, obviously you'll need the correct Tx/Rx for them
  13. Asking at your local supermarket often works wonders, they chuck loads daily.
  14. I'd recommend a Tamiya TL-01 chassis but there are others you could use, some of which are listed here. Theres also the TT-01/TT-02 and possibly others. The TL-01 is 4WD but can be made into RWD by removing the driveshaft to the front so not too hard to do and the chassis is pretty cheap to buy second hand as i've seen a couple sold without receiver or ESC for
  15. I'm in Brandon, very close to RAF Lakenheath. I am originally from Guildford in Surrey and have lived in Brandon for 4 years now.
  16. Hello all, My real name is Mike and i am in my early 40's. The idea of owning and running RC cars is new to me, i never grew up around others that had the hobby and just had daughters to bring up. Now i'm becoming a grandad i have a grandson who is aged 1 and there is possibilties of more grandsons so i am starting this hobby to get at least him or them interested at an early age. I can appreciate the difference between toy grade and hobby grade cars and have bought 3 hobby grade cars to start with, a re-re Grasshopper, a HBX Cross Tiger (basically a Tamiya TL-01B clone with monster truck wheels) and Tamiya TL-01 Subaru Impreza. The TL-01 Impreza chassis is going to get stripped down and rebuilt, the other 2 will be run as is for now and items replaced as they wear out or break which indeed they will. Thats enough for my intro i think. Regards Smackers
