  1. hmm... it almost looks like the rear bearing carrier/rear upright is too wide. Is the axle flush with the bearing on the inner side? Or are your bearings seated all the way into the bearing carrier/rear upright?
  2. Nice! Did you have to remove the rubber o-ring in the diff cup? Or did they fit fine with it in there?
  3. Ah alright. That would be great if they are listed the same. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The chop shops were a great discovery for me too. Especially when I was going through drive cups every few weeks! I probably would have sold the chassis if i hadn't found them. FYI don't be paying $17.99 for the diffs! You need to shop for the non flux models or the others that are interchangeable (Bullet Flux, 3.0, WR8 Flux, 3.0 etc). There was a point over the holidays where the Bullet ST 3.0 diffs were $9.99! They are exactly the same as the WR8 diffs, so I picked up a few. They also change their parts prices around all the time depending on what people are buying. For instance right now the Diffs for the flux model are $11.49! Always check out the other interchangeable models when you are on there, you are bound to be surprised!
  4. Hahaha! Yeah you are right! Supposedly they are hemorrhaging money and on the brink of failure but I'm not going to lie, I love getting a 6x8x5 box full of parts I ordered 2 business days ago from a place 2,675 miles (4304 KM) away for $2.19 (
  5. Oh yeah, modelsport will do it but the shipping is astronomical. I can get it directly from them if I wanted. lol I shouldn't have to though and that's the thing. Hobbico is HPI's US distributer so they are the ones getting these parts on the shelves here in the states. I want to be able to hit up Tower Hobbies and simply order the part but it isn't that simple so it seems. They are slow as heck getting anything new for the WR8 and I was hoping some community will (or want) would get them moving ;-) I also hit up their facebook page but those usually get buried or ignored.
  6. Can any of you guys do me/us USA WR8 fanatics a favor? I'd love to get my hands on the new Bucky Lasek Subaru WRX body for the WR8 because it is awesome: http://www.hpiracing.com/en/part/113239 So here's the deal. You guys have it over here but for some reason the distributer for the USA (Hobbico) is hasn't released it in the USA yet. I'd love it if you were to write to them and say you want to order it in the USA. This is their contact page: http://www.hobbico.com/contact.html Copy pasta something like this if you will: Or something like that... lol. I just want to get it out there that people want it. I mean it is awesome isn't it? Thanks guys!(and gals!) Mike
  7. Which CVD's did you get for the rear? And what was the length?
  8. Yeah! They fit perfectly too! Thanks HotShot888! BTW 888Racer (haha you guys must have similar thought processes... with the 888 in both your names ;-) - I also broke my front bumper where the red ring is. I'm going to look into making a custom reinforcement like yours. It looks good. I really wish I still had access to my old jobs cnc drill/rout machines. That would be so awesome. So on to my WR8 Redux... I got my Integy CVDs in today. They look pretty good to me. The pin retainer is made out of metal and everything else on them looks solid. I'd like to see comparison between the GPM CVDs and these ones... Here they are- The pin retainer is fairly thin but it is secured to the axle housing so it should stay put. Here you can see where it is hooked into the axle housing. It protrudes into the CVD retainer block a bit but I don't see it causing any issues. There was no binding to speak of. And the pin looks to be about 2mm (about stock width). So when someone gets a GPM set in post up some pictures! I'd like to see the differences if any. Also once I get the car together I'll be sure to put them through some rigorous testing. We'll see how they hold up 8-) Mike
  9. Nice! Those are priced well too! I got anxious and purchased a set of the Integy CVDs last week. I wish I has waited for the GPM ones to be released... which of course was the day after I made the purchase. 8-( Oh well they should be here today so at least I'll have a set! I also ordered a set of TopCad CVDs for my Bullet. It should be pretty much bullet proof once those are installed 8-)
  10. Great info! Thanks for posting. So I also just checked the GT8LE-RA manual (the wheelbase thing was really buggin me!) and it lists the rear center CVD at 128mm long vs. the BSR's at 100mm long. I think the GT8LE-RA might actually have a 360mm wheelbase. If you look at the pictures of the bodies side by side and the pictures of the rear of the chassis the GT8LE-RA does seem to have more room behind the battery boxes and the rear hinge pin braces... The bodies are hard to tell though. At any rate most of the driveline parts and other bits should swap over no problem. If you really want to save some $$ check out these guys: http://www.dollarhobbyz.com/ofna/ultra-lx2e.html you can get $14 CVD and dogbone sets, $18 full diff housings! I'm pretty sure the $12.50 front and rear knuckles will also fit on there. Man I'm liking this chassi more and more the deeper I dig. Does anyone want to buy a bitching WR8? $303 and it yours! ;-)
  11. Bridge- I forgot to mention check out NitroHouse for replacement parts! They have parts for the GT-V2e that will fit the Basher take a look- http://www.nitrohouse.com/ofna_gt-v2e_parts_list.html Also they are in California so shipping should not take to long if you are in the States. Mike
  12. Hey Bridge- Can you measure the wheelbase to confirm it is 330mm? I know it is based off the Team C GT8LE-RA but Team-C (and Abisma) have the specs for that chassis listed as 360mm wheelbase. See here: http://www.absima.com/en/products/cars-trucks/team-c/competition-18/gt8le-ra.html So either HK has it wrong or they actually modified their chassis to release their own version. At any rate I'd love to know what the WB on the Basher really is so I can look into other bodies and what not. BTW thanks for the buddy codes! I really want to get one of these!
  13. Cool. I've thought about running the wires up front but I always run them to the back. It just seems easier with the relief built into the box. Then I just strap down the wires with the velcro. I'm getting excited though! I'm planning to run the threaded Blitz shocks bodies all around and I ended up ordering a screw kit for the Blitz and it came with the proper shock pistons in the package. The WR8 pistons are a bit too small for the Blitz shock bodies. So now that should be all set but... I also bid on and won a set of the upgraded threaded alloy 103395 shocks on eBay. I ended up getting them for like $12 shipped! lol... so now I may have to order another set of the upgraded shocks to make a complete set. They are really nice shocks! HPI did a hell of a job with them but I don't really want to plunk down $50 for another set. Maybe I'll get lucky again and find another set for cheap!
  14. I actually found them on eBay UK but they are based out of Hong Kong so I sent them a message and asked them to combine shipping on both items for me. They sent me an invoice through paypal and I got them a week later. If you search ebay.co.uk for "Jazrider HPI Bullet" you will see what I'm talking about. Don't search for them through ebay.com (us) because the only supplier is in AUS and the price is totally out there. The eBay UK seller is pretty darned cheap. Quality looks pretty good. I can't say they are better or worse than Integy but they do come with hardware (hex and ball studs) and bearing (for the front at least) so that is pretty nice. I'll be able to get a better gauge on how they hold up once I start bashing on them but they are alloy so I can't see them being any worse than the stock parts. BTW- Super jealous about the Basher Rally! I really want to pick one up... next month maybe ;-)
  15. Argh... I just test fit them in the WR8 battery tray and it is a super tight fit length wise. I had to basically cut out a relief for the leads so it would fit in the tray! I didn't realize these batteries were so much longer then the Duratrax 5000mah... Crazy!
  16. Sweet! I've heard good things about them but this is my first time giving them a shot. I've been running a Skylipo 5000mah 40c and a Duratrax 5000mah 30c for almost 2 years now. The Skylipo ended up puffing this year which was mostly my fault, it puffed from being hit by debris from the front wheels on another chassis I run. Amazingly it is still going pretty strong but I'd really rather not take a chance with it anymore. The Duratrax is still going strong like a beast though so that one will still be in rotation. I can only hope the Turnigys hold up as well as the Duratrax has.
  17. I had some JaZRider parts show up today 8-) $24 for both front and rear parts... not bad! Can't wait to see how they hold up. I'm hoping they work better than the stock parts, I'm sure they will. Edit: Woo! It's christmas ;-) 2 of these bad larries also showed up! Damn, I'm excited now!
  18. Just take the dogbone out of the diff output shaft and look inside the shaft. You will see a little black o-ring in there, fish it out with a toothpick or bobby pin and you should be good to reassemble it.
  19. Not 100% sure yet. I was thinking another 3800kv and probably the 17 tooth.
  20. Some sweet WR8 project parts **** for everyone! ;-) HD drive cups- Some HD center drive shafts (We'll see how the pins on these hold up!) and some Savage XS diff gears. Nice new clean diffs for everything to go into. Spare parts and some grease to make sure everything goes together nicely. Checking out the threaded Firestorm/Blitz shock bodies. And the project car itself- I've got some extra control arms, diff cases and whatnot so I should be set on parts for awhile. I just need to wait for my alloy rear bearing carriers and front knuckles to come in and I can get assembling! I'm getting excited! Yeah yeah!
  21. Looking good. What ESC are you running in there? Honestly I think the stock shocks are pretty good for all around bashing. They do need rebuilding after a bit because they start to get rough but other than that they seem fine (to me at least). Now, because I like to make things better than fine I'm looking into the threaded front shocks from the Firestorm/Blitz. So far they look promising but I'd like to make sure the dampening is right on them before I recommend them to anyone. Even the stock plastic threaded bodied shocks will be an upgrade to the stock WR8 shocks. So far I've noticed they have a larger internal volume of dampening oil, they have a tighter/better fitting internal piston valve (both of these will lead to a more consistent shock tune), the valve pistons seem to be made of a reinforced material (not sure what yet), and the WR8 bottom and top caps will fit on them along with the springs. They seem to be great for a low cost upgrade.
  22. BTW... I'm going all out with the new WR8.... This arrived today- And I already have a full set of HD drive cups for the entire drivetrain, 3 sets of new internal diff gears (from the Savage Flux XS) and a set of 4 Firestorm front threaded shocks. Be on the lookout for the MGozzz WR8 Project #2 "The Redux...". It is going to be pretty epic 8-)
  23. I've never run them but they are 90mm overall diameter, they may be too big for any body your considering to run them on. The road rage tires I ran were the 2.2" versions (These ones I'm pretty sure) and they are listed as 86mm overall diameter. The extra 4mm may or may not make them fit... but even the 86mm diameter was tight on my Subaru body and that had the fender wells trimmed out a good amount as it was. The stock rims are also 35mm wide and the tires you linked are 33mm. That could also cause an issue trying to stretch them out. I'd say look for something else, for example if you are looking for an off road tread the caliber 8211-02 are a bit closer (still a bit tall at 88mm) but they are a bit wider (34mm). They are still not perfect but they are getting closer ;-)
  24. Very wishful thinking! Well... it maybe a possibility for the guys over in the UK and Europe but not anyone else in the world 8-( I'm still waiting to see the Bucky Lasek GRC Subaru body here in the states. Meanwhile everyone else seems to be able to order it no problem... ModelSport, Wheelspin.. but no, not at Tower Hobbies or OmniModels... COME on HPI!
