  1. What size spur and pinion were u using ? We won't be racing just want something that won't burn the motor out
  2. Thanks for the help guys I'm going to order the kit get the upgrades as well so we've got a good base. What sorts of speeds do u think u we're getting with the 9t motor? Also do u think the truck version will wheelie everywhere ?
  3. Hi guys looking at buying one of these as a bare kit to use as a starting point for a brushless set up for me and my son to build together. Anyone had one of these? Was wondering if there any good cause they seem cheap? If anyone has any other suggestions for a bare kit that can be upgraded? Cheers guys.
  4. Thanks for your advise guys. I'm going to order a new motor tomorrow. See how much difference it makes. Then maybe look at brushless/lipos later.
  5. Which motor do u reckon is the best. The stock esc says it can handle up to 13t.
  6. Hi guys. I'm getting my son a new brushed motor for his maverick We are either going to get a etronix sport tuned 15t, fire bolt 14t or Orion pro 13x2. The fire bolt is half the price of the other two it's only
  7. Hi there. Thanks for the reply. Your right it was a long read! I'm defo going to do the chassis mods. I'll prob just start with the xtra shock and go from there. I haven't glued the tyres so the elastic band idea seems good as not to perm. I'm not going to use lipos as they look like hard work and my boy already has 2 4300 packs for his and we have the charger. I'd like to upgrade the motor though, the tamiya ones seem to be expensive , what do you think of other motors and poss a new esc ? What sort of combos work well?
  8. Hi everybody ! I'm after some advise off you guys if that's ok? My boy got a maverick mt for Xmas and he's really into it at the mo, now I've got a tamiya lunchbox that I want to get running I've had a look round at radio gear etc but I'm confused! I put metal bearings in when I built it so I'm after upgrading a bit, I need some opinions on what stuff to get The kit came with an esc but I'm assuming its a crap one! I haven't really got a budget but it's a bit top heavy so I don't want to go mad! Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks
  9. Haha. No I did check that. I found the problem. My boy said he was going through puddles and there was water in the esc. A bit of hair dryer'ing and it seems to work ok now thanks
  10. Hi guys I bought my son a maverick mt evo for Xmas. It's been brilliant up till today , The problem is it just loses the signal from the control Now I can't find the instructions so I haven't got a clue what to do?? There is a band selector on the receiver which makes the led flash in different cycles and a fail safe set button, I've never touched any of these , there's also loads of settings on the control which I've never touched If I turn it off and on again it works for a while then stops Anyone got any ideas??
  11. forgive me for being stupid but that's for a one hour quick charge? is that ok for the first charge? or do I need to slow charge them to start with?
  12. hi guys I've just brought my son a maverick mt for Xmas. it came with a 1800mah battery and I've also brought a 4300mah battery and a charger which has variable charging rates can anyone help me as to how best charge the batteries for the first time and what is the best speed to charge them and for how long?? I know there is way of working it out by doing some maths but can't remember!! thanks in advance guys.
  13. Got it down to the maverick mt and the ecx mt. I've just order the maverick strata with extra battery and better charger. Hope I've made the right decision. Thanks guys.
  14. I've got a gold edition lunch box and I was trying to sway him towards the pumpkin but there too expensive and I can't go over budget.and I'll end up spending all Xmas day putting it together! I really like the traxxas stuff but it's too expensive!
