  1. I will be updating this thread later with all the news for the track for the 2015 racing year Happy new year everyone
  2. Lol how did i get that so wrong haha?!?! That looks even better seeing it on the big screen. You could sell the idea to Thumbs!
  3. Me, Rtsbasic and DirtMonkee are going to the Acron Centre this Sunday for the Torbay indoor series so i will try and get some vids up of the the Micro's They get good numbers of cars. Usually around 60 10th scale and around 20 Micro's. A good 95% of these are Carisma's
  4. I'm not to sure tbh? Its smaller than 1.5 so maybe a 1mm? I will check for you in a mo. I will see what size fits
  5. Ahh i've found the thread again . I had lost it. I'm now following it Will update some progress later
  6. Jonny you are welcome any time! We had a few issues with the A38 being closed for around 6 miles for 3 nights this week, we were right in the middle of it but thats all finished now so next week will be back on as normal What are you running now, have you still got the RB6? Hmmm the gremlins, i think we made the mistake of feeding them after midnight lol, we had all sorts of issues didn't we lol. Yeah get some Vids uploaded Mark The slow mo ones are sexy Are you talking about the 10th scale? Round 3 is on the 21st December, they also run a few heats of Micros https://www.facebook.com/151391404875478/photos/pb.151391404875478.-2207520000.1417222614./921396774541600/?type=1&theater
  7. Those pictures are epic!! The micro class was a few member down, it was just the 3 last night but it was still great fun Brilliant pictures Mark!
  8. Hi mate is the 3.0 your selling a converted nitro? It looks different to my 3.0e?
  9. Some more pictures of last nights fun can be found below https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-West-Indoor-RC/262447823948047?ref=hl It was a good night
  10. As Josh and Rich have already said, its going really well , considering we only started this a few month ago we have a good turnout each week and some epic racing . We average anywhere from 12 to 15 drivers a week and we now have a few juniors getting involved each week so its really good to see the younger generation racing! The track has gone through a few changes recently to get the best flow and i think what we have now is the best so far. We were all only talking a couple of days ago about keeping the thread upto date on the progress so i will tomorrow upload some pictures and this Thursday i will get a new 'walk round' vid of the track so everyone can the layout The classes we run are 10th, Micro (Carisma GTB's / Mini 8 size), Vintage with the novice in this class and also we are soon to have a Short Course class, this last one is more just for the fun side and won't be taken too seriously lol. We also have a SWIRC Team. There's around 10 of us in it. Its not taken mega seriously but we do all look pretty good in out SWIRC logo t shirts when at track like Torbay, We are also doing the Micro Nationals. Theres a couple of clubs that are close'ish to us. We go to Redruth School on a Tuesday night (organised by WCRCCC) where we race the Carisma GTB's and Mini 8's and the 10th. We also go to the Torbay Micro club most Friday nights where its purely for the Mirco's. This is also just epic! There's probably so much ive forgotten to update but i promise i/we will keep this thread upto date with all the progress. Rich has also posted the FB link, its below also Along with all the club branding like the T shirt and Hoodies, we also have SWIRC stickers and pit boards that have been designed by Fresh RC Stickers and Designs . Links below. Thats '36Racing's' company https://www.facebook.com/FreshRCDecalsAndDesign?fref=ts https://www.facebook.com/pages/South-West-Indoor-RC/262447823948047?ref=hl If anyone is wanting to come down then give anyone of us a shout. Like what Richard has said (Rtsbasic) we have all the timing system and handout transponders if needed and if you have your own personal we use a MyLaps RC4 system so basically any personal you have with work on the system. I'm also going to fit a more modern set of sticks to my Vintage RC10 B2 so this can also be used as a club car for anyone wanting to have a try at racing without having to spending lots of money. Thats a good idea Rich, i will also do this with mine.
  11. They do like to wear don't they lol! They are like super soft ans super sticky Hows yours running now? Ive not had a chance to get on here over the last week. Have you got the weight kit on yours? I've made myself up a weight kit but not had a chance to get it on the track yet Also another good and cheap mod is to fit the link below. Do you have it fitted? I've put them in and using 45wt rear and 37.5wt front and the difference between the old set up is like night and day. The turn in and grip in a corner is much better! http://www.tracksidespares.co.uk/product/carisma-gtb-pro-piston-tuning-set Also i've ordered a 62 tooth spur, this is what the top guys were running at the last Micro Nationals. They look super fasttttttttttttt! http://thumbsdesigns.com/product/62-tooth-0-5-mod-spur-gear-gtb-gt14b-series/
  12. They look the same fitting. They probably are the same tbh but i've only ever seen the top part with the hole in?
  13. The white compound are the best for grip but don't last that long. You can use the yellow compound but the compound of choice for the pro racers is White. Also if anyone if after the bright Yellow Schumacher rims then the product code is U4528
  14. Sweet that is the motor ive got fitted in mine at the moment. Our track is a medium sized track with a few fact sections. Its got a 16 pinion and the standard 70 tooth spur and works really well. The motor gets hot but not extreme. How did your night go? How did the new ESC run too? The shells were done by Kifo Paints and they are flipping incredible. The detail is just pin point good and faultless. I'm not too sure on a price as these were sponsored shells at a discount through Josh but if you drop him a message he will price it up depending on what you are after. They look incredible though! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kifopaint/102000356525749
  15. Ok finally, here's a pic of our 2 Carisma GTB team cars for South West Indoor RC. We are going to the Micro Nationals this Sunday I'll get some inside pics up tomorrow with the shells off. We only got the shells back today (KifoPaint) so ive not had a chance to sticker mine up yet (Green shell is mine) and the Orange shell is Josh Hardwicks We ran these for the first time tonight at Torbay Micro track where Josh Qualified 2nd in the A final and ended up taking the win and i qualified 1st in the B and ended up with 3rd after getting stuck on a tyre just after the start and being lapped on the very first lap :/ One of my tires is on the wrong way, that has now been sorted lol.
  16. Ive been offered a brand new geared diff for a good price but i'm wondering if i should just give it a miss?? Is it worth fitting as it is WITHOUT the fix kit or am i just wasting time? I've read the don't work too well? DMS racing do a carbon fibre chassis, this might have a little more flex than the ali one? My mini 8 has the factory ali one and after driving the Carisma you can tell the difference. I guess the Carisma is a little more forgiving? http://www.dms-racing.com/index.php?keyword=carisma+gtb&limitstart=0&option=com_virtuemart&view=category&25e30d8d655d2190638af68748dafc86=
  17. This is how i have mine fitted, yeah its pretty tight in there isn't it lol!! But having it this way you can run a fan and also there's no need to trim the heat sink to make it fit in. Did you trim the servo mount off a little, thats the only way i could wedge mine in? I'll get a picture up of mine.
  18. They have fix kit out now i think for the gear diff, i'm not sure how much it is? https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.714896108588113.1073741839.234838243260571&type=3&uploaded=3 What do you think of the alloy chassis? My mini 8 has one as standard and never really thought much about changing it, although ecotek does do a banging carbon one for the Mini 8! Whats it like compared to the standard one for the Carisma?
  19. I will get a picture of mine later, i trimmed/cut off the side post of the standard mount. Your servo is the same size as mine so its a bit thinner, it lets you use that extra space for the esc. If you pack the servo out with a sticky pad on the top and one on the bottom it fixes it in place with the standard bracket.
  20. Ahh sweet! Yeah i've only managed to get the car onto the track twice so far but the lipo's seem brilliant! I reckon they could 2 5 min heats without needing a charge (although you would), they seem to be packed with power!! Yeah i noticed my motor got pretty hot but its not over geared or anything. Fingers crossed the mount will turn up today then
  21. Thats a sweet esc! Depending on what servo you have fitted you might need to trim the heat sink to make it fit under the top plate but if you have a smaller servo fitted you can spin it round the other way so you dont need to chop it up. How many people run fans on their ESC's? I've got one on mine but dont really know if its worth keeping on?
  22. I'm trying to find some RPM arms but i don't think they do them, i cant find them anywhere? I bought the Blue ally motor mount from Trackside spares yesterday so might have it here today . I guess this is more for heat dissipation then strength?? I think i have the same lipo's as you, i'm using the ones below and they are epiccccccc! https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29023__Turnigy_nano_tech_2200mah_2S_40_80C_Lipo_Pack_TRA2820_Traxxas_1_16_models_UK_Warehouse_.html
  23. I will have a look at the weights, it does make sense to add some to give it more bite on the carpet. Nothings cheap when trying to buy extras and hop ups lol!! I'm running the same as you in the Yellow compound but ive been reading that the top guys are running the softer White compound for even more grip. Tbh the Yellows do give a lot of grip. Have you upgraded anything else on yours? I don't want to go too over the top lol, ive never been a fan of bunging every named product on a car just for it to look good but i'm well up for upgrading if it offers a durability advantage or a better performance gain
  24. How needed is the weight kit? I've only had mine on the track for 1 night so far and that was just a shakedown for the esc to get that programmed correctly. I'm guessing the weight kit would help a fair bit, my batteries are pretty light. Mine is the 60amp version and it fits in JUST lol. I think a lot of people get away with the 35 amp but the 60amp had the same footprint so i got that one, was only 10 quid more. I think i'm running a 15 tooth with the standard spur and it has plenty of speed on our straight but for longer i think it will need gearing up a little more, i'm not sure what tooth the spur is though? I've ordered a 16 & 17 tooth pinion. I can not believe how epic these cars are! Yeah we had one down last week that was only a lap down on the 2wd KF's. This is my new love for RC
  25. Thats what ive heard and already experienced lol. I dont think i've gone a single race without the bar popping out and wedging the steering I have the same servo as you but the slightly higher spec'd one but i run it along with an external BEC to get a true 7.2v operating voltage, its very quick. My esc is 6v. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__29343__TGY_393V_HV_Metal_gear_Coreless_Digital_Servo_w_Heat_Sink_4_3kg_10sec_22_5g_UK_Warehouse_.html https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__31593__7_2V_2_5A_UBEC_2_5S_Lipoly_6_23v_UK_warehouse_.html I'm running one of these ESC's and it seems pretty good so far. There is a lot more room to play with in one of these, my mini 8 is tight for space!! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__7188__Turnigy_Brushless_ESC_60A_w_Reverse_prog_v2_2_.html Ahh ok so the weight kit is something to think about too. I've just had a look and buying the full weight kit is a bit of a mission, they all seem to be out of stock I will have a look for some hard springs too. I'm not sure what the standard kit comes with? The Carisma motor is a sweet motor! You will really like that!
