  1. Hi, I've been working on a XSTR I bought as a rolling chassis, real cheap. It's got a mix match of components. 1 of which is the steering servo from a Kyosho Sandmaster. It doesn't have a lot of power to turn the wheels of the XSTR. It worked ok in the Sandmaster but that was a lighter, 2WD car. This I've is 4WD & a lot heavier. So I'm putting to you guys to offer up some suggestions please?! I don't have a huge budget, this is to be my wkend basher Just need a servo that's gonna cope with a meaty-er car & steer quickly, confidently & consistently. Thanks in advance...
  2. Any1 got a link on those hex's? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Update on this.... Turned out that 1 of the wheel bearings had started to disintegrate! Also had a little wear on the outside of the CVD because it wasn't being supported in there evenly. Heyho, a pack of new bearings latter & it's as smooth a babies behind.
  4. Holy cack! Best wishes for a speedy recovery m8.
  5. Well I got some Losi 1's. They seem to scale perfectly with the emb-1. Without any fitting instructions, I've fit them. Trouble is they don't seem to be performing as a sway bar should Si...where the flat part of the bar is screwed down on the rear, is that sposed to be tight or a little loose?
  6. I just phoned a local shop, they said the Mini8 1's wouldn't fit Perhaps Karting used GTB 1's?
  7. I do get a fair bit of body roll at the track races, certainly enough to give it a try. Thanks Si, to be honest I am hoping there's a compatibility between the models, cos again the parts market seems to be flooded with Losi only. Karting...ive seen the bars on DMS, but they all state Losi. Do you have a link to a set that deffo fits the EMB-1?
  8. I'm being 'swayed' by the positive handling & feel you can get from sway bars. I've read a couple of insights into the effects of re-weight distribution etc, sounds intriguing enough to try them. Does any1 have a link to some that would fit a LC Racing EMB-1? Thanks in advance.
  9. That must have been 1 hell of a crash.
  10. Great news Si. Just looked bk thru the thread & can't find the motor. Any chance of a link?
  11. I'm running a Overlander RC-6S AC Pro 80W charger. Cost mid-
  12. @rc rookie : I'd alrdy switched to CVD's on the front. I had the issue b4 too tho. The issue occurs regardless of steering position I'm a little stumped to be honest. @ Si: I too have re-lubed rear diff & re-greased rear bevel gearing. Glad I've got that skill under my belt now. I think I'll tap up another racer from local club, he has 1 too, wonder if he's experienced the issue.
  13. Just did the front only for now. When turning the rears tho - it's smooth as silk. Can't believe the price of these things tbh, cheap as chips. Might be worth having a spare anyways. I'm assuming the diff set I've seen for sale is the same on both ends of model?
  14. Well that was good fun . The diff was only about 1/2 full of oil, and the colour was really quite silvery. Cleaned it out, checked for any particles etc, damage or signs of grinding. Nothing stood out as dodgy tbh. Filled it back up. Also applied some extra grease to gears before locking down the casing. Unfortunately still have the same issue. It's not a show stopper but a little concerned about it. Glad I've done all that tho, will be checking that lot every couple of months as a matter of course.
  15. Thanks for reply Si. Will try that tonight.
  16. Bearing in mind I bought this as a RTR: I notice that when holding the car in the air, if I turn 1 of the front wheels round the other turns (in opposite direction) but not in a smooth manner like the rears. It kinda 'grabs' a little, almost turning intermittently. It doesn't put up much resistance either. Is this symptomatic of any issue with the gearing mechanism on the front? As said I didn't put it together so don't have much insight there. I heard talk of diffs, is this what I should be looking at? All wheels turn well under throttle when connected battery wise, so I'm guessing I'm ruling out anything to do with central drive shaft coming from the rear. Or is it worth looking at the slipper clutch setting? Thanks in advance.
  17. Received, prep'd, painted, fitted: What you reckon? http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/27483-/ http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/27480-/ I used a pearlescent white (for a little sparkle behind the white section) but I must have fingered it a little. Cos when I put on my backing colour a black smudge came through Enjoyed it though as a 1st effort
  18. What you using to strip the paint off?
  19. Looking nice. Like Harry Hill would now say......fight! ...or race....
  20. I've finally ordered a shell....the Phat bodies Kaboom one. Been donated a front tower mounting post too. Paint & decals next. Any1 recommend good decal links? Or advice?
  21. Shocks worked great! It's given me a little more confidence now to start pushing a a little more. Hence next... We have ramps at our race night, so can get some 'air'. Still getting used to the effects of throttle & neutral in mid-air, will take some practice I'm sure. But here's a Q: I think my wing angle is slightly too inclined at the rear. I think this is why the cars nose is rising on throttle off the ramp (early to mid-air). Will a more flat / horizontal wing help keep the car flatter through early stages off a ramp? Is it more natural to have a flatter wing anyway, or is there summat I'm missing?
  22. Nice 1. Might tinker after Wed nights racing, this weeks race is to test out my new front shocks.
  23. Shock fit went fine, nps. Thanks all. I have much more confidence in the front set now Next... As I bought the RTR, I don't get the significance of some of the build (in terms of meaningful output.) Case in point....the slipper. I know it's there, I know it has something to do with delivering the full/partial rotational power from the motor (indirectly via gears ofc). But what will it do & what are the pitfalls? I guess it can be adjusted, for torque-type effect perhaps?? Any advice is appreciated before I go in & do summat silly!
  24. Lol, unlucky. Better luck on nxt run, eh?
