  1. Spent the afternoon practicing at sweetnap and doing track maintance as some of my on road stuff in a van going to Sweden WC, The currant lay out works well with just enough straight to keep the gyro spinning for tight stuff, The little M5 never missed a beat all afternoon. Loooking forward to this meeting as off road out my comfort zone. Hopefully afew people turn up and this is something which can be expanded on for the future
  2. Tamiya, I'll do you a favour and tell you stop spending money on batterys and chassie servos ect.... JB hit the nail on the head. Wheels and tyres will fail buddy. Starting point for any speed record is tyres that can handle the speed. All the tyres off the shelf will fail buddy, you need custom tyres that wont expand and hit the swing arm and delaminate at speed. it why no one gone above 93mph with an RC bike. record is held by an American called lito who was the editor of RCCA
  3. Oh im still a biker I ride my cross plan to work nearly everyday, did castle comb last month on my race CBR6, Nice and smooth gives me the best lap times but each to there own. Not sure what the standered sb5 esc can handle tbh, 3s could be to much for it, The motor a little slow in the rtr but that would probily be best to start as little things hit over 100kph in superbike trim on race track gearing. You don't learn to ride on R1 when ya start out, skill set not there and that get costly fast in accident damage. Never done a 3s race in the UK as that meens the guys would have to buy batterys and we try to keep cost down for people, you can get a good 2s for 20 bucks.
  4. Hi Tamiya The cheaper chassie are the NF501 and Tundertiger TTe. These wont win a race due to restrictive lean angle, The SB5 was developed by Torrance (TC3/4/5 designer) who jumped ship from Team assocate to thundertiger to win the 2009 world championship in Germany, The sb5 is a fast bike and made the stock A final every year at the world champiobship since with Tomas ferlin at the helm. I race one myself at club as the tour car guy got a habbit of burning there hand on the exhaust of the nitro. you need slight longer front fork legs and a set of PMT 200 tyres and there no reason it wont be a competive bike. Leave the hobbyking nitro alone it has many falts one being the petral tank a bad design and the forks are undamped, just a pogo stick as JB would put it. The vemon is just a money pit, very fast bike but over engeernered and prone to braking. As for being hardline as a newbie not really the case, 95% of us are real bikers so we welcome anyone with two wheels and everyone will help. As for rules, superbike any 1/5th chassie with any motor and a 2cell lipo 7.4 volts stock bike the same but with the mardave G2 brushed moror or a 17.5 brushless and 2 cell 7.4 volts
  5. struggling to get my head round what would happen tbh. I'll think out loud If it a head locking gyro it will always try center the steering servo unless an import is being put in, With a bike we flick it in then release the steering modulate the throttle for turn radias and then power out on throttle and steering When the steering release mid turn will the gyro try to center steering servo and pick the bike up before needed, im sure an import could be put into lean the bike back over but could end up with a 50p looking apex.
  6. I've seen this done on real bikes and it works at keeping the bike vertical, problem come when you ask it to lean over as adjusting only the steering wont bring the bike back up. We do use them on the RC sidecars and lap times have dropped by 20%
  7. Should be the same date as a club meeting, Spoke to Jim afew times about this and should only be 1 extra heat 2 at the most. The sweetnap guy are great, Made me feel welcome when I went down with the bike
  8. BRCA Motocross race held at sweetnap raceway on the 17th of augest. 1/5th 1/4th allowed IC/ electric allowed Normal club prices to enter Any info needed ask here I'll I try my best to answer.
  9. The M5 probily the best value bike on the market, It solid, reliable, spares are there to buy, The only hassle most people have is the rear axle bolt coming lose and losing the chain adjuster which require a new swing arm as the parts are not sold spererate, There easy to make yourself with a dremil. putting Orings on the bolt or grub screw to clap them solve this most times. You don't need the rider on there to use it,
  10. It not so much the weight but the way the power is put though the model, with only one wheel we don't have the grip or the downforce so don't pull so many amps thought the model Were slower basically and easyer on electrics
  11. x3 will have more max RPM than a double. but the double more torque. think along the lines of a big single against an inline 4 in real bike terms When the motor in use it draws powers messured in amps modern brushless motors require a higher amp rated ESC so they don't over heat the ESC and fail. I wouldn't like to answer the 10 T with 35a esc as im not to sure myself (Nitro bike guy in afraid) I know we use a lot less load than cars do so it could be ok.
  12. Hi Sounds like the steering not central is the front wheel pointing straight forward when your off the sticks, Sounds stupid but worth checking. The steering springs have a collet keeping them in place you wont equal distance for both springs. also check one fork not longer than another this can cause an issue / these bike counter steer like the real things so check when you turn the handset left the wheel turns right. If you hold the steering on while turning the bike wont pick it self back up and just go in a straight line, this is the biggest difference between RC cars and RC bike, Flick it on the side bar let go the steering and control the lean with the throttle. In order to go in straight line don't touch the steering, also have the steering EPA set so the front wheel hit full lock just at the end of the stick movment, this make it a lot less twichy to start off. Out the box some bikes have the front wheel axle behind rake angle, you wont the axle in front of the forks Is the gyro spoiling up, with a high ride height these bikes only work well if the gyro is spinning
  13. Anderson or ARX, all the other companys seem to drop the bike after a year or two, the venom been discontinued which is shame, Im really happy with the Anderson it goes round the race track with ease and parts are cheap not that I used any yet it pretty bullet proff if you don't put a stupid fast motor in. 3 rear wheel spacer and two OWB is all the failed in 3 years and I only use mine in the winter when the weather to bad for onroad.
  14. put it in a ballon with a couple of cable ties around the top to make sure no water get's in this time of year,
  15. The stock brushed motor is 15 turns, so any ESC that can handle 15 turns, Did it wet? The nosram evil power esc pretty good, waterproof and can handle 7 turn motors
