  1. Thanks for the replies - really helpful! Regarding the charger, the previous Vector NX85 charger we used for the Nimh packs gave up so I replaced it with a B6 iMax LiPro Balance Charger which should do the job. One last question though. I found the following battery which looks like it would fit the tray comfortably and is unbelievably cheap at
  2. Hi, My son has a Maverick Strada MT Evo which I upgraded to brushless for him last year. The ESC/Motor combo I bought for him works really well (Turnigy TrackStar) but he's still running NiMh. His main high capacity battery will no longer take a charge for some reason so thought its a good time to upgrade to a Lipo pack. Only problem is I have no idea which pack to go for! The only thing I really care about is giving him the longest possible running time (he only uses his MT for fun) and not over cooking the battery (I hear you can do this if you don't match the battery pack to your motor)! Any suggestions would be very welcome! Specs of the ESC and motor are as follows: ESC Specs: Continuous Current: 80A Burst Current: 95A Resistance: 0.0009ohm BEC output: 6V/1A Motor type: Sensorless brushless motors Motor Specs: Model: 3650 Sensorless Kv: 3520 No. of Poles: 4 Cont Current: 40A Peak Current: 60A Max Power (15sec): 660W Winding: 2D Resistance: 0.0172ohm Thanks!
  3. Really helpful reading - thanks for pointing this out! Based on what I now know, I'm planning on buying a motor/ESC combo with a similar Kv rating as the Evo S model (3215Kv). To the best of my knowledge the S has the same drivetrain as the brushed standard Evo so shouldn't need to change anything else (I hope!). I'll aim to get him a lipo once he has a handle on the brushless. Thanks for all the helpful info guys!
  4. Thanks for this, I visited hobbyking.com and it definitely looks like a cheaper option. Another dumb question though, would you recommend sensored or unsensored? What's the difference?
  5. I recently bought my son a Maverick Strada MT Evo (brushed) for his birthday. While it's great value for money, I'm already starting to regret not paying a little more to get him the brushless 's' version. From what I understand, if I wanted to upgrade to brushless I'd also need to upgrade the ESC too. Is there anything else I would need to upgrade or is that it? I bought a spare 5300mah nimh battery which I'm assuming will be good enough to power a brushed motor. I'm very new to RCs (can you tell?!) and I'm not looking for the perfect solution, just something that will offer a little better performance without having to make a ton of alterations to the stock set up. The cheapest I've found the genuine HPI parts for is
