  1. Hi all, I have a savage x ss, the older model with the 8 shocks. When I purchased it, there was a mixture of shocks fitted to it, so I treated it to a new set from EBay. They were not genuine HPI, they were the purple and yellow set. The first time I used them on the truck, one broke and 2 leaked oil everywhere. I contacted the seller, who to be fair sent me a new set free of charge. I fitted these and run it for a while, just bashing and playing around. Yesterday I gave it a clean up and service, and found that 7 of the shocks had leaked out all of the oil - I thought it was bouncing around a bit. I have had enough of these now and want to replace them. Is it worth getting another set of 8 Hpi ones or is it worth going for a big bore set of 4? If I go for the four, what conversation kit do I need to go for, any ideas best place to purchase from. Any help or advice is greatly received. Thanks Paul.
  2. Hi all, been playing with my Hyper today, I love it really good purchase, thanks for you recommendations. I have run it in and set up the needles the best I can. It really flies alond and revs right out, the only thing is that, when you slow down then give it full throttle it will bog out (hesitate) for a second then it will pick up and fly off with no problems, it only does this 50% of the time the rest of the time it picks up fine. I am not sure if it is too rich or lean. It doesn't seem to smoke excessively and runs fine apart from that. Any ideas / opinions are greatly received. Cheers Paul.
  3. Hi there, I don't suppose you still have this do you? Cheers pmac
  4. Hi All, I have just taken delivery of my new Hyper 7 Buggy. It looks great, I can't wait to go out and try it. I sold a couple of bits on Ebay and have a bit of cash to spend on my Hyper 7 before it goes into service. The buggy has come fitted with HoBao H-101 servos on both throttle and brake. I have read that these are not up to much, and are worth replacing. I am looking at fitting a Savox 1256tg for the steering and a Savox 1257tg for the throttle / brake. Do you think this is too much for a Hyper 7, would my money be better spent else where? Any advice / opinions are greatly received. Many thanks Paul.
  5. Hi all Got my hyper 7 today, want to install my radio gear before I run it. It has come with the h-101 servos fitted which I believe are a weak point. I am looking at a Savox 1256tg for the steering and a Savox 1257tg for the throttle / brake. I have sold some bits on EBay and have some cash in my PayPal account for some upgrades. Do you think the Savox set up is over kill for the Hyper 7 , would I be better spending my cash elsewhere? Again any advice greatly recieved. Cheers Paul.
  6. Hi All, Thanks for all the replies, and good advice. I had my heart set on a 1/10 scale buggy, but after reading all your advice I will definitely be getting a Hyper 7 now. These forums are fantastic for help and advice, and have saved me making costly mistakes in the past, so thanks again for making them work, and may I wish you all a great Christmas and New Year. Cheers Paul
  7. Thanks for the advice guys, I only wanted a 1/10 scale as I have the 1/8 scale Savage, and I fancied something smaller, I could go for a 1/8 scale if there is more choice, and they are better. I like tinkering and would not mind a project to play around with. I suppose I just wanted something different from the Savage. I just don't want to buy some junk, that breaks every 5 minutes, that you can't get parts for. I got my Savage after advice on here, and am chuffed to bits with it, so I return for advice on a buggy. Thanks.
  8. Hi all, I run a HPI Savage, which I love, but I am after something smaller for playing around with. I would ideally like a 1/10 scale nitro buggy, it would just be used on tarmac and dirt. There is a huge choice about, I would appreciate any advice / recommendations in what model to go for, ideally 4wd, not too bothered about the radio gear as I have that and would install it. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks Paul.
  9. Hi all I am looking to update the steering on my Savage. I am looking at fitting a Savox 1256 servo, is the standard steering crankset / servo saver up to the job, or can anyone recommend an upgrade for the crank set up. Any advice greatly received Cheers pmac.
  10. Hi guys, I am new to this forum, I have a few cars, that are in various states of repair, but I need some advice on my Savage ss. I have had the truck a while now, always been a pig to start and tick over, (when it was running it would blow fuel out of the air intake on the carb) which I put down to the engine being on its way out. My suspicions were confirmed yesterday, when it destroyed the engine. I have had a look inside and it is not worth repairing, so it is time for a new one. The dead engine is a k4.6. I have had a look around, and I see that these have been replaced with the f4.6. I am not too bothered about power upgrades, I would rather have reliability. Is it worth hunting down a K4.6, or is the F4.6 better, or have you got any more recommendations. I don't race the truck I only use it for playing around on the dirt. Any help or advice on this will be gratefully received. Many thanks Paul.
