  1. hey- 9lb eagle in one hand, rc control in the other and mouth to unhood the bird once the car has a good headstart- nothing left to hold camera!!hehe- when I can drag my son out to film it I will!!
  2. hi to everyone that commented on this thread, just thought I'd update as to what I ended up with! I was discussing with a good friend who used to fly goldie, and he said he had an rc car in his attic he no longer used!(after everyones help here-typical!) Anyway after some peeing about with the old , uncharged for ages, batts, They hold a charge for more than long enough for my needs. Instead of covering the car shell with fake fur as planned, I did indeed decide to make up a large but light weight lure, which really bounces around making it even harder for my young eagle to catch! Anyway it works a treat for helping to get this big lad fit, so here's a couple of pics of him-thanks again. Dave Sharpe
  3. thanks, yes lucky but poor! spend it all on the business !! try these guys for the very best hands on experience days: www.icarusfalconry.co.uk thanks again everyone for the help.
  4. Thanks cheese, It is looking like the traaxas slash is going to be the one at the moment, Will look to be buying one in a couple of weeks if nothing else 'better' gets recommended. The ground clearance and speed sounds spot on, and I don't think the high centre of gravity will be a big problem, as fast left and rights wont be the main point of getting the birds fit. they can work out ther footing skills to a degree on wild quarry. The truck will be used to build cardio vascular and stamina, so a few reps, and long distance flights will be sufficient from the truck. As the months pass I'll try and get some pics up of whatever truck we get in action! Thanks again cheese and r46 and everyone else for your advice and input, Dave Sharpe
  5. thwnks guys, will check out the links later, technically if a bird can get itself into trouble-it will! so tyres could always be a risk to a degree, and eliminating risk is always good( lets face it that a multimillion pound industry in this country!!) However, once the birds cotton onto it, they will tend to go for the fur and especially the head! Initial traiing will be on mowed grass, but as the hunting season looms nearer I would want to be able to drive over rougher surfaces, maybe subble and grazinged land etc. Hence I'm thinking big tyres/good ground clearance. I was also hoping the vehicle would multi tsk, and be able to drive slowy over a corrugated factory roof surface?? The more options I have the better-so keep posting! brief, rugged, fast, very good ground clearance, and if cheap then all the better! I don't need the latest/fastest/most fashionable. Dave
  6. ok, cheers chaps, nice to see theres as much diference in opinion with rc guys as with falconers!!hehe I did like the idea of the cheaper one- not just 'coz its cheaper, but the simpler and more rugged it is the better- I want something that within reason, can be used, put away and use again, with minimal maintenance-within reason. I'm more than capable mechanically, but don't want the car to be my 'hobby'. and of course won't be competing with anyone but the birds! on that note, how 'easy' are they to control speed ? something I can learn with some 'playtime' on an open mowed field?
  7. run time doesn't have to be too long, if it can do a few quick spins in succession I would be happy! will check links now!
  8. thanks for that! I'll see if anything else gets recommended, but looks like the one to order then, thankyou. I miss having a bike to wheelie, and that clip makes me feel all nostalgic!!-ta!
  9. r46, love your wheelie clip, the back brake sure does come in handy when you reach that 'oh sht' moment! was that the biaggi clip from yesteryear?
  10. ok, thanks for the link! wow, you guys do mess about with some kit! my question so far would be, would the monster truck version be better for me regarding ground clearance capability? and ruggedness(thunder tiger mt4g3 monster truck)? budgets gone awry already..........! these do look just the job, do you guys know spec re speeds ( 30mph aint much for the birds to catch) and ground clearance/overall wheel +tyre diameters? Thankyou again-Dave
  11. barnetb' was hoping around 200-300 quid? r46, will check out link now, thanks guys for replying
  12. Hi everyone, I haven't a clue about anything rc, but need some advice, and this looked like the best place to ask by far!! I'm a professional falconer and I'm after a rc, batt powered truck. I know the sort of thing I want, but I believe the one in the picture is no longer available as a new product? Godzilla truck?? The truck needs to be capable of at least 30mph on short turf, and hopefully have enough ground clearance to run slowly over old factory asbestolux roofing(big corrugations maybe 4inches deep) The truck will be used to get hawks and eagles fit, by using it as a fast moving lure(one in the pic is a little ott!) and also as a possible extra tool to frighten inland gulls from nesting on warehouse roofs-pest control. I don't want petrol as I don't want the heat risks of hot exhausts etc It does need to be rugged ,obviously the shell will be off mostly,so I don't care what it looks like from the factory. Thanks for your time guys- Dave Sharpe www.raptorxotics.co.uk
