  1. A Truggy will get over more terrain than a Buggy will, and a Monster truck beats both..... Kingpin
  2. Well, touch wood (tap tap) if the weather is ok tomorrow I'll get some more testing done. Primarily, temps and top speed. GPS device, temp gun and esc programming card all at the ready! Going to test 15t, 17t stock and 19t pinion on several test runs. Thinking, would it be a fairer test if I set timing and punch to the minimum? As in off? Cheers Kingpin
  3. Sorted out a GPS Speed app, copied it to my old S2 and found that if you remove the front bumper support, my phone can drop in and be held very firmly in place with cable ties. (Phone just sat on my chassis for a quick photo!) If the weather's good tomorrow, I'll get some more runs in. and so far, this is running very well on 3s! Cheers KingPin
  4. Well, nice day today so I got some testing done.... Both of these were done at half/full throttle (mainly full) up and down a car park for approx 15 mins each time, on 3s. I had to dial down the brakes as I achieved a perfect forward roll (and roll and roll and roll) when I braked hard on a very grippy bit of rough tarmac! 15t - 0 timing - 100% punch - Temp 50oC 15 min cool down 19t - 0 timing - 75% punch - Temp 64oC Couldn't really tell a "huge" amount of difference to the speed to be honest, until I do some GPS tracked speed runs. So 15t seems the way to go I guess? Numbers numbers numbers! Cheers KingPin
  5. Ahh, am I right in thinking Traxxas part 6852x X2 will fit? Looking on the URC forum you have to slightly modify them to fit 100%. Kingpin
  6. Hi all, just wondering if it's worth while getting some beefier driveshafts for my Torment now I've gone brushless? Heard the stock ones aren't great and that traxxas one fit? Anybody know the part number for these? I'm running a 9t Etronix Brushless on 2s. Cheers KingPin
  7. Hi, not ran the 15t yet, got a little distracted with other r/c projects...but I can confirm that even on the stock 17t the Carnage flies on 3s. I've put 6-7 3s packs through it and no breakages/signs of wear. I picked up the sway-bar upgrade to help with the handling, and the motor does get a little warm but after reading up on the advice here, changing the timing/pinion should help. I recommend getting a 3s immediately!!! Cheers KingPin
  8. Hi, got all the pinions from Modelsport, Robinson pinions are fantastic! KingPin
  9. Cheers guys, didn't manage much today because of the stupid weather. I'll keep you posted. Kingpin
  10. Cheers guys, I'll get the 15t in tonight, and give it a test tomorrow. Shall I leave the ESC settings as they are? (I use the program card to adjust) Regards KingPin
  11. Hi all, I've noticed now I'm running my Carnage with 3s its getting hot after 20+ min's. It's brushless with stock esc/motor. Current ESC settings are 50% punch with 8 degrees timing. The ESC and Lipo are nice and cool but the motor gets to around the high 70oC. I know the stock motor isn't a "true" 540 size but still want to keep it until I get a new set up. I'm running the stock 17t pinion, but recently picked up a 15t,16t,18t and 19t. I haven't really mucked about with gearing since the "old days", and can't remember if I go bigger or smaller! Cheers guys. Kingpin
  12. Hi all, still got my Astute for sale....
  13. Mine has got to be, the "scale bug"......I've caught it bad. Started with a Jeep Wrangler shell that i actually bought off you 53HRA (small world) which went on my CC01. Then it was Proline scale accesories, Junfac goodies and homemade stuff until I got it just right.... Then onto my FAV which got the same treatment with scale bits aplenty, homemade netting and a scratchbuilt exhaust. Now I seem to be going down that same road with my TL01/Bowler WildCat project. Whatever happened to charging a battery and going out to play! Cheers KingPin
  14. Hi, no spare gearbox cover, just the one on the car.... KingPin
  15. Ok.....might be open to trades? KingPin
  16. Ok, I can include a new silver 540 can motor, Acoms 27mhz reciever/transmitter(with crystals) and Tamiya TEU101BK ESC, for
  17. Sold, please remove. KingPin
  18. Hi, I have this for sale as I no longer require it and it seems a shame to keep hold of it.It's mint as its never been used.... This is from a Tamiya FJ40 Landcruiser CC01 kit but I changed the chassis wheelbase and fitted a Jeep Wrangler shell. It is cut out/masked well, and painted Tamiya PS-4 inside with Matt Black outside on the roof/rear section to simulate a canvas roof. I painted the body accessories in the same matt black but forgot to prime the wing mirrors so it's flaking off (see pics) it's a quick fix though! It includes the grill, lights, mirrors and a complete L sprue for fitting leds (not included.) Also included is a near complete decal sheet, I only used a few of the sponsors. The only minor things are I drilled the rear body post holes a little bit bigger but once fitted with body clips you can't even notice. I'm after
  19. Another bump, next day postage WITH insurance on this.....Only

  21. Spending? Nope, this my friend, is INVESTING! KingPin
  22. Hi, the end of the motor shaft will look like this without a pinion on it.. " D " So when you fit the pinion, before tightening the grub screw....rotate the pinion until the grub screw lines up with the flat part of the shaft... " here ---> D " a little bit of threadlock in the screw hole won't hurt at this point, then just screw it home, making sure that the gear mesh is correct of course. Good luck KingPin
  23. No worries mate, keep us posted how you get on.... Cheers KingPin
