  1. Hey guys, remember me? I'm sorry about my disappearance, I have had a lot going on lately. Have not run my Slash for a while, and after stumbling across this thread, I'd really like an excuse to get it out and have some fun. As there seems to be a whole load more spots to go, I'm keen to join in as I didn't think there would be many more places to go, plus I've never bashed with anyone else before. When the weather improves, I'm definitely up for a meet. It would be nice to say hi to some of you and work the rust out of my remote trigger finger. Cheers, Andy
  2. Once I've added the latest mod to my Slash, I'm deffo getting myself and it down for a blast. Got my overtray, spray painted it and it looks awesome so far Just need to finish trimming it to fit, then decal it up, drill some vent holes, fit some cooling and happy days! Job stopped at moment waiting for the cooling fan I ordered ages ago to turn up You'll see me eventually!
  3. Update: after a lot of persistence I have found a UK website that stocks the Jconcepts overtray, happy days! Time for some phone calls later in the week methinks. I considered the undertray Noj, but I watched a review of it on a Slash 4x4 and it just acted like a scoop, collecting a lot of debris inside the chassis. I've just ordered a 70mm cooling fan off the net and I may order the Velineon fan for the ESC later on, so I've started the ball rolling. I plan to mount the 70mm directly under the louvers in the overtray, which I will cut holes in. I'm going to use a 9V PP3 for power and I will mount that in the overtray as well. I've seen a video of this setup and it seems to work well. I'll get back to you all on this once I have it sorted.
  4. Thanks for the advice guys, that Velineon accessory fan looks good, and easy to fit. I'm still running Nimh batteries. It looks like the overtray itself can be modified with some vent holes and a second cooling fan running off a 9V battery after doing some research. Talking of the overtray, I've also been searching the net and am having difficulty finding one for sale in the UK. Would anyone have any advice on how to track one down, or will I have to order from the US?

  6. Hi, I'm looking to add a jconcepts overtray to my Slash 4x4. After reading some writeups on it, it looks like I need to add some form of cooling for the electrics. Can anyone give me any advice on how to go about this please? Cheers - Andy
  7. Scratch what I've just said in my last post, I've just seen a review of the ProLine undertray and it wasn't good, so am having second thoughts. Am considering having a go at fabricating one from scratch, that way I'll get exactly what I want. I might try one of the jconcepts overtrays to protect the electronics as they look good, but I guess I'll need some form of cooling in there too.
  8. Thanks for the link. I reckon I'll go with one of those, as that should protect the exposed entry into the prop shaft. I'm not on ebay, so looks like I'll be paying a visit to my LHS. Soon I may look out for some upgraded off road tyres as it was a challenge to keep it in a straight line going flat out, and maybe stronger nerf bars all round.
  9. Hi everyone. The Techincian, I have run it a few times now, twice on tarmac and twice on short grass with a small mound to do some jumps. I'm astonished with the power it has! I've just had it out today and got it seriously muddy, rolled it a few times and crashed it twice (whoops). It's still in one piece, and I spent ages cleaning it. I think it's an awesome piece of kit. Am now on the lookout for a protective overtray and/or undertray to help keep debris from getting inside. My main concern is dirt getting into the prop shaft and working its way into the slipper clutch. Would anyone here know how I can get my hands on these? Andy
  10. The same question goes for me. I've given my Slash 4x4 a good blast on tarmac, but am itching to get it out on dirt/gravel.
  11. Those suggestions have helped me as well, so when I eventually come to get new tyres for my Slash 4x4, I'll consider Pro-Line. Are there any other decent makes of tyre other than the ones mentioned above?
  12. Taken the Slash out for its first run, it now has its first battle scars.

  13. Update, I have it. Cannot wait to get it out and have some fun!
  14. Thank you for the advice everyone, it helps a great deal. When I get it, I'll take the advice to run it bone stock for a bit, see what happens and upgrade if my driving style ends up breaking something (which it probably will). As far as batteries go, I'll see what the stock NiMH gives in terms of performance and run time. If I have the desire to go faster and/or have longer run times, I will consider a larger capacity NiMH (mAh) or possibly a LiPo. I'll be back on here for more advice if that happens. P.S. Glad I've made a good choice for my first truck - thanks Didski.
  15. Hi everyone, I'm completely new to the hobby and will be getting a Slash 4x4 very soon. I will be using the truck for bashing only. I've just got a few questions about some possible modifications before I do anything. Batteries: I have read that the stock nimh only gives around 10-15 mins of run time. Would there be any other nimh batteries that will give longer run times? Please note I do not want to go lipo. Modifications: Would it be worth doing any modifications to make the truck better for bashing? I know there's a massive list of things you can do, but to be honest, as a complete beginner it confuses me. I just want to know what would be a sensible modification that is not ridiculously expensive. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
