  1. Took mine out in the street we've only had a couple of inches - it's 4x4 so plenty of all wheels spins/ power sliding. Drying out in front of the fire.
  2. Thanks fellas looks like I need to delay my visit to the beach until I am more capable with the cars construction, plus it's so damp even the "dry" bits of the beach are going to be salt rich. Just wanted to point out that this is a case of a lack of understanding not laziness - I'll have to set myself some servicing targets and expand my tool kit There really is something to be said about building your car/ kit rather than buying - would come in really useful when it comes to dismantling/ cleaning things.
  3. I'll have a look - although I'm like the vet out of the league of gentleman (if you remember that) - except that anything mechanical I touch dies
  4. Sweet pic - I fancy it but not too comfortable with the post fun activity
  5. I think that might be a bit ambitious at the moment as I didn't build it - don't really want to have to take it to pieces as I'm unlikely to put it back together again - bit like humpty d(n)umpty Any video links for doing the sort of things you are talking about? cheers
  6. Thanks for that - what's the most effective way of cleaning it down? Only had it a week and all I've done so far is wipe it down with kitchen towel and use a dry paintbrush to get grit etc off of it when dry.
  7. Hi, as it says really truck is not waterproofed and I so I thought it might be okay to run it on the dry sand away from the water. Conscious that salt water and electrics don't mix. Advice please - car is maverick strada evo Cheers
  8. Yes 7.2v - got it from the supplying shop and the fella in there seems to be fairly clued up. What's venting? Sounds bad
  9. Hi I bought a RTR Maverick evo MT (brushed motor) it came with a Maverick 1800mh battery which was okay but ran out of power after about 10 minutes. So today I bought a plasma 4700mh nimh battery - took a few hours to charge but just ran it in the road and it must be 20% faster with more power - only ran it up and down a few times but what a difference and a bit more of a challenge to control. The only thing I'm not too sure about is the extra heat that is coming from the ESC and motor - presume this is normal? Looking forward to the weekend when I can take it out for a proper run and see how long it lasts.
  10. I'm sticking with nimh for a while, bought a plasma 4700 battery (
  11. That Imax B6 looks good and not too expensive at around
  12. Just stumbled across this using the search function - that's a first! I bought the maverick evo mt brushed just after Christmas so the OP thread makes a great deal of sense. The manual with these cars is not the best - so I can understand why we look so dumb - I've looked through it a couple of times and it's all techie stuff about the properties of the components. There was a plastic packet of bits in my box - no explanation of what they were - were they likely to be the spacers? To OP which charger did you go for and from where please?
  13. Hi all, I bought a Maverick evo mt (brushed) a week ago - just wanted something out of the box, electric, and easy to use/ play with and not too expensive. Pretty pleased so far just a shame it's been a bit wet. It was meant as a family gift for myself, daughter and wife but as yet thay've shown little interest No great plans to do anything to it apart from upgrade the battery under features in the manual it says" 6.0 - 8.4 volts power input" "13 turn brushed motor" and the motor is "mm-22 540" I'd be interested in knowing which nimh battery is best in the car and whether it will take a 8.4 volt nimh stick or whether this will be too much for it. Also might want to get a faster charger but not that important if I have a couple of batteries. Also what does 13 turn mean? Cheers D
