  1. Capris rock! But anyway, yeah, Lunch Box... anything on the cards for it tonight?
  2. Nice! Off topic completely, but nice!
  3. For kids I'd recommend the Step Up Striker MT-1. My sister's partner has one. It's great fun, slow enough to be safe yet fast enough not to be boring. Comes RTR, is dirt cheap and can withstand ANYTHING you throw at it! And I do mean anything! We've had it getting serious air over rocks and mud and grass and cement numerous times. We drive it full speed at the kerbs and it just leaps up onto them, nothing has broken on it yet in over a year of hard bashing. EDIT: And it sure as hell would handle those steps that your Lunch Box is so fond of!
  4. Only one I own is my trusted Ansmann Mad Rat. Mods are: Team Br00d 19t blueprinted motor, Kevlar 86t spur... and the pirate flag of course!
  5. Will you be able to post a few videos as well? Would be awesome to see it running!
  6. Yeah you had to do everything: Clean, mask, paint, cut shell, cut-out and stick on decals, bolt on grill, mirrors and spoiler. The whole shebang! I'd never sell it, sorry. I'm a Mercedes 190 fan through and through, I own a 1988 Mercedes 190e 2.3 16 Cosworth with DTM wing and Evo 2 wheels. I'd never sell my car either! I've never used the shell, too scared to break it! I might use it for qualifying at my local club and race with my normal shell though.
  7. For the shell and the car kit? About
  8. Thanks guys You're telling me! I just fitted my first brushless system to my High Roller and DAMN!!
  9. HOLY CRAP!!! That thing is now brutal!!! Thanks very much for the help (and persuasion), it's a real beast. I love it!!
  10. There you go http://maximusbanterus.webs.com/apps/photos/album?albumid=11926291
  11. Makes sense to me! I bought the whole Tamiya TT-01E car kit brand new just because I wanted the Mercedes 190e 2.5 16 Evo 2 shell that came with it
  12. The brushed, but I ditched the clash motor and replaced it with a Team Brood Racing 19T motor.
  13. Well I can't justify buying one right now, having just spent
  14. Ok, I'm confused, I said that on the other Lunch Box thread! It still applies here though
  15. Hi, thanks for the warm welcome folks. Yeah I agree, I love my Mad Rat, it's a little powerhouse!
  16. Damn, you guys have REALLY got me interested in these Lunch Box's! Love the work going into these, congrats! I'm gonna have to get one now, and it's all YOUR fault, shame on you all! ... and thanks.
  17. Hello all, have already made a few posts on the monster RC forum, I didn't notice this introduce-yourself part until now. Oops. Anyway, how's it going? I'm Mike, 25, I live in Bridge of Earn, Perthshire in Scotland. Used to race at BRCA club and national level back in 2003/2004 with my Losi XXX-S and briefly with an HPI Pro 4, indoor, alternating wood and carpet surface, 27 turn stock motors. Quit the hobby near then end of 2004, but got back into it last year, although not in competition. Started my own indoor race club for touring cars (www.maximusbanterus.webs.com) with some friends. Been good, and just got into offroad RC for the first time as well. Really enjoying being back in the hobby, and nice to meet you all! Cheers, Mike.

  19. Nice, thanks again. Well I've spent a good few hours today, stripping down the truck, checking everything, rebuilding and regreasing the gearbox and installed the heavier-duty ball-diff in the place of the geared one, in preparation for the extra power. Just got to wait on the phonecall from my friend in Tay Models with my brushless stuff now. Looking forward to it!
  20. Dually noted! Another question: What would I set the Drag Brake and Brakes Strength to in order to replicate the "engine braking" effect that I'm used to on brushed motors when off-power?.... if that question makes sense!
  21. Cool, well that's good to know, but I'm sure the speed will be more than adequate, since I've only ever used brushed motors before. I haven't read all of it yet, but I will. Yeah my friend told me I need to charge them at 3.3 amps-ish as they're 3250's. Ahh right I wondered about that cut-off, thanks for that! I'm sure it'll be a riot!
  22. High Roller is awesome, IF you fix a few flaws with it first. 1- The driveshafts are rubbish, they bent under the strain of the stock motor, replace with C.V. driveshafts. Similarly, the little pins in the hex-drives are weak, put some stronger ones in, I just cut some HPI ones to fit. 2- The idler gear in the gearbox is surrounded by metal gears... but the idler gear itself is plastic. Whoever thought of that needs shot, it might as well be made of cheese. It WILL strip, and pretty quickly. The alluminium idler gear is essential. 3- I replaced the ESC with an Mtroniks one. There's nothing wrong with the stock ESC, only it doesn't allow you to go straight from reverse to forward, preventing wheelies. And what's the point of a monster truck that doesn't wheelie?? 4- The standard radio equipment is, frankly, crap. No range and prone to cutting-out and interference. Swap right away. It may sound rubbish from what I've said, but trust me. It takes one hell of a beating, it's ground clearance is amazing, it looks great, it can go anywhere and it's really well geared and quick as standard. I do recommend it. Infact, only last night I was out with a few friends charging our R/C trucks and buggys around a farm. There was a massive pile of gravel, the High Roller caught about 8 feet of air over it, time and again. No problems whatsoever!
  23. Awesome, well despite saying I wanted a brushed motor, I've just went and bought the stuff from my mate. Etronix 9t brushless system, charger and two 7.4v lipos for
  24. They are all Etronix, not a brand I'm familiar with. That sounds good, what's the point in a monster truck that can't wheelie on command?? Those posts are helpful, thanks a lot, and yeah, I'll check out youtube. Cheers.
  25. Hey, thanks for the info. I have a comm lathe and have skimmed and re-brushed the Orion Core, but it's not as good as it was, it failed in quite a big way before. The Losi LM-32K is a sealed motor, so I can't skim that, unfortunately. Is that quite a decent motor on ebay then? Are the differences between good and poor quality brushless motors as big as with brushed? I spoke to a friend of mine, who runs a local R/C shop, and he can sell me a brushless motor (9.5T) with 2 cell lipo, Speed Controller and Charger for around
