  1. And I learnt on a raptor 50 nitro, there's no issue really, I can set a goblin 770 up for a novice. The issue is when it goes wrong it goes really wrong, there's a guy on Heli freak who used a TDR as a trainer and apart from one crash at the start did very well. Helis are very differant to any other branch of RC in the fact that they are not self stabilised. They are inherently unstable and without correction will crash very quickly. It's the same for any Heli. The only issue with a large Heli is if it hits you or someone else.
  2. Go for it and get an Mcpx and dx6/7 radio. The mcpx is an excellent beginners tool and much more durable then the 130x which seems to brake very easily.
  3. I will defenatly be there, one of the best Heli flyins in the uk. Will be camping the whole weekend
  4. Price has gone up a bit in the 4 years since I got one. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__10811__HK450_CCPM_3D_Helicopter_Kit_Align_T_rex_Compat_Ver_2.html Mine cost me $15 dollars posted. Still got it upstairs but it never gets flown.
  5. Sorry mate need to be more helpful, they do fly but if it goes in its not worth repairing. You can buy a new kit for
  6. Get us a pic so we can see what you've got. And remember to take the canopy off, we want hard core Heli p**n here Once we know what you have we can point you in the right direction better.
  7. Waste of money, Get yourself a hubsan X4, it works and flys great.
  8. Both the ones you've listed come with there own TX and are not compatible with Spektrum gear,
  9. Orientation is the biggest thing to learn with a Heli of any type. I spent hours on the sim and flying every weekend for nearly two years before it fully fell in place in all positions both right way up and inverted. Keep at it and it will all come together.
  10. Just a warning guys there was a huge batch of fake spektrum rx' that made it into uk shops last year and they were shocking quality. You could still buy them on eBay from hk early this year. Just make sure you do a full range check before you use them.
  11. The 130 seems a firm favourite among the beginners at my club. The only thing that puts me off is reliability, there's some 20 odd 130s in the club and 9 I can confirm have been replaced due to faults. Once there sorted they seem pretty good and fly ok. As above its a
  12. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__37947__Hobbyking_YEP_40A_2_6S_SBEC_Brushless_Speed_Controller.html Proberbly the best budget esc for a model Heli, proberbly the best esc for a 450 full stop
  13. Bright orange ping pong ball on the rear skid?
  14. I think it brings quad copters to a whole new level. Flying a quad is pretty easy to say the least and once you've learnt the basics of going round in circles and loops and rolls that's pretty much your flight envelope reached. By going cp you can open it up to pretty much full flight. Just try backwards inverted out, never mind piro loops and pie dishes. its a quad that might interest me. My last one reached 5 weeks before I got bored of flying the right way up all the time.
  15. New next d quad. Looks like proper fun. http://www.modelhelicopters.co.uk/next-d-stringray-kit-flight-control-only-pre-order.html?fb_action_ids=10151741657207489&fb_action_types=og.likes&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B546486805387736%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.likes%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%5D
  16. Helis will fly in much higher winds then planes will. I'm not normally to bothered by wind and will always fly at least one day on the weekend regardless of weather (even if its peeing down I insist on one flight) it comes down to how confident you are in wind. I set up a fellow flyers brand new trex 600 with vbar on Sunday and he was shocked when I carried it out and gave it its maiden flight in the wind. If its really blowing a gale I fly my gasser, its a flying block and even in 40mph gusts it just sits there calm as. It tracks and flys perfect in winds up to 30mph with no issues.
  17. Some late night action with the twins http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/22802-/
  18. The bixler is a great model for cruising around with. Nice and stable and not to fast. They will work in tight spaces but just need a but more of a heavy thumb. If you want something more serious then the wot4 foamy is a real hoot to fly going from mild to wild with a flick of a switch. But it will need more space if your inexperienced. My tight space I mean a football pitch sized area.
  19. http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/gallery/image/22725-/ He he. I've got twin helis now I won this at Helifest yesterday for my Flight to music. Joe
  20. This is normal on a fixed pitch Heli the left tilt is just what they do due to blade rotation if they went the other way it would scoot to the right, most will do this (even much larger machines) Helis don't like being on the floor or anywhere near it for that matter. You need to lift it positively into the hover. Watch an experienced flyer and they will lift it to head height in one smooth motion with no hanging about.
  21. As Tamiya above asked is it moving left or just leaning left at the same angle ?
  22. Phoenix runs fine on macs but you need to use bootcamp on the mac to get it going. I run it on my 7 year old mac book pro fine.
  23. Hebby was the operator, it's his responsibility to ensure safe operation of the aircraft, this includes taking precautions to protect himself from muppets. It's unfortunate that he had his goggles pulled off but had the aircraft hit someone or something then the CAA and BMFA guidelines would have been used in the prosecution. I can tell you that the BMFA guidelines say that a spotter should be used at all times when members of the public have access to the flying area. The BMFA guidelines are drawn up with the cooperation of the CAA. Of course if hebby wishes to carry on as he is then I'm certainly not gonna stop him. It's his ass that's gonna get locked up if it goes badly wrong.
