Hello everyone,
For sale is my trusty old HPI Wheely King. This was my first ever 'proper' RC purchase and I spent a lot of fun days running this about. Sadly though due to college, lack of time, change of hobbies and general interests it's time to put it up for sale instead of letting it gather dust on my shelf.
In all fairness I cannot remember a lot about it. What I can say is that I bought it brand new, ran it once as stock and then bought the crawler conversion kit. As well as that I bought the HPI Ford Bronco body which painted yellow using the wrong type of paints so it flaked off over usage, but that makes it ideal as a knock-about body. Some proper 2.2 tyres (sorry but I cannot remember the brand) and I glued those on to the stock rims which I also painted yellow (now I think about that it was a poor choice, but I did it to match the Bronco body). A year or so later I got the HPI Land Rover Defender body and painted silver which doesn't at all suit the yellow rims, but it is what it is and I was happy at the time. The paintjob isn't amazing as if you shine it up to the light you can see through it, but it's not awful.
From memory everything else is stock, except for the stunning pink aerial cover.
As for the bad points (forgetting my poor choice in colours and painting), one of the drive knuckles (I think that is the correct term) broke for whatever reason which makes it 3 wheel drive. This is not at all a complicated fix but I never got around to it as I moved on to new hobbies. It is a fairly old rig, so the motor is probably weaker than it should be and the battery will almost definitely need replacing.
This truck would make a perfect first-timer rig, an even better knockabout rig as the Wheely Kings are pretty sturdy builds and/or a good project for the more serious hobbyist.
If you have any questions or would like any more photos then please feel to ask.
£100 collected (Rawtenstall, Lancashire). I can post if someone really wants me to, but it will be a fair bit extra cost on top plus I will have to find a large box to house this behemoth.
Many thanks,
Tom
